I am concerned about monks, friars or nuns who wear lay clothing. I feel that if they are obviously religious then they are more approachable by laity.

Thank you for making this video. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I am very drawn to such a life of complete religious service. I can only imagine the peace that a life dedicated to God in such a way would bring. You are all so blessed to have the lives you hold. But for my 3 beautiful children I feel sure you would find me knocking on your door one day.
Anyway please forgive my ramblings. God bless you all and those that I have seen in this video will be in my prayers tonight.
    Ah, the road not taken...

Do you know that Anglicans have their own Dominican Order? There are quite a few who are married and with children.
They may not be Roman, but they're pretty close, and there's quite a bit of to-ing and fro-ing between the Roman and Anglican brothers and sisters.
It, too, is a consecrated life.

what these videos also leave out is those orders congregations who do not have spiffy, dry cleaned habits and who don't have ancient castle-like convents or friaries. I knowof more than one whose beginnings are apartments, old trailers, and so on-- and whose clothing at first consists of homemade, imperfect habits and veils. These places are the beginnings of new life. Especially in the traditional latin-mass world.

I’m a Nun myself and the Order that I belong to do not wear habit. I’m 30y old. I committed myself entirely to God when I Professed My Vows. God called me as I am and that’s how He wants me. Not wearing a habit does not make me “LESS NUN” than the others that wear a habit.

Our world is nearing Messiah words, if people leave Catholic faith I as a convert in 1995, they I wonder if they understand were sacraments are in Scripture Matthew 16 18 John 20 19 23 John 6 51 55 others in old books, it is important to ask questions, before I entered the faith I read the Catholic Catechism went to library, asked Priests questions if I didn't understand part of Mass. He knew he told me, it has Biblical meaning many back to Jewish times. Remember Jesus was Jewish his new community Universal Church was set up like Moses Moses sat on chair and taught as our Popes. Jewish Synagogue has Scrolls the priests walks around with just as our priests hold the Bible up High an people stand and reverence it. They had Tabernacle we have Tabernacle with Host. Ours is fulfillment they still wait many have come into our faith many are Jewish Messianic Jews not in Catholic faith but believe in Messiah

The idea of nun's habit comes from the logic that one should be with the people in the world yet apart from them. The habit was designed to be like the dress of common women of the medieval era. And I do believe they must dress like the common people around. They are recognized as religious, not because of particular dressing code but by their intrinsic worth. I too was nun and loved that life till today. Here in India it looks very odd to go about in habit. When I wore saree , people were much at home with me.

This verse (Romans 12:2) demonstrates the Two Kingdom concept: The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of the World. As an Anabaptist, take this verse seriously and avoid as much of the world system as we can. We dress modestly and women wear a veil at all times, so that we can instantly pray if needed. People feel free to talk to us about spiritual things which they would not ordinarily do if we appeared like everyone else.
