    Yes, this woman has curly hair. Albeit, loose curls, but curls all the same. She has different curl types and patterns all over her head, and the curliest place is on the back of her head, where she has full curl "loops" and even ringlets.
    Also, to you ladies saying that she doesn't have curly hair, consider this: she hasn't been taking proper care of her hair and her curls. Her curls are damaged, and a single good wash isn't going to fix that damage.
    If she were to keep up this routine and start and continue to take proper care of her hair, I _guarantee_ that her hair would be 10× more curlier at the end of just a couple of weeks.
    As someone who's helped others learn to take care of their curls (irl), this happens a lot.
    Again, after consistent and proper care and maintainence, I would almost bet money that her hair would be much, much curlier and more "acceptably" curly.

    Ohmygosh, where have you been all my life? I've spent a lifetime fighting against my waves/curls instead of working with them. When I call salons and ask, "Do you have anyone who is especially good with curly hair?" I get the standard reply that all of their stylists cut/style curly hair. - - NO, THEY DON'T.- - The end results in this video are gorgeous and I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Thank you! Off to buy DevaCurl!

    amazing results and yes her hair is curly, there is different type of curls. Why does everyone hate, just because her curls are not super tight, there is many different type of curls.

    The hair came out nice. I see people here criticizing that the hair is not actually curly, but they missed the whole point - all they're trying to show you is how to take frizzy, lifeless hair and get it to form defined waves/curls. The process would probably be similar for waves and curls ranging from type 2a/b to 3b/3c in my humble opinion. Also there are plenty of videos featuring women with tighter curl patterns, so you can just watch those if the model's hair isn't curly in your opinion.
    I have to say, the model could probably have achieved that result with a little less work... I love my DevaCurl light defining gel, and I definitely don't spend very much time on my hair. All I do is run it through my hair after I dry it with a T shirt. Then scrunch a little and let it dry naturally. And my 2b/2c hair comes out looking great.

    I'm new to Devacurl products and I need some help with this 3 step process! When I do it exactly as the video, it comes out great. The problem is, I don't have the patience to let my hair air dry. So today, I did the process, then put my hair up in the Devatowel for about an hour, then used a diffuser on my hair. It turned me into a big poofball! With winter coming up, I'm not going to want to go around with wet hair at all, so I'd appreciate any advice. :)

    • @Nataliegbeauty
      @Nataliegbeauty 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Marcia Moore when you are diffusing are you moving it around a lot? I know when blow drying people think it's essential to constantly move but that's not the case with diffusing/curly hair. You want to keep it still in the area until that section is dry. If it gets too hot do a cool shot every once in a while. Also you may be wrapping your hair for too long. Within an hour (depending on curl type) hair can dry significantly so if it's already pretty dry, hot hair can cause some frizz. Also when diffusing you want to use high heat and low speed because the air pressure can cause frizz. Friction = frizz. Hope I helped some :)

    • @mushymarshmallow
      @mushymarshmallow 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, that did it! Thanks so much for the advice. I was moving the diffuser around way too much, but when I did as you said my hair came out great.

    • @mushymarshmallow
      @mushymarshmallow 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ryann, I did find another technique. I bought myself a Soft Hood, which is a bonnet you attach to your dryer. I plop my hair in it and it takes about an hour to dry my hair completely in it (as opposed to the 4-5 hours to dry naturally).

    • @strangeduckling
      @strangeduckling 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When using a hair dryer, don't use heat! The heat will damage your hair and make it very frizzy.
      If you're in a real hurry to get your hair dried, you could try _gently_ scrunching your hair with a microfiber towel (or soft cotton t-shirt) to get all the excess moisture out of your hair.

      Exactly!
      No one seems to notice that she hasn't been taking proper care of her hair and that her hair is damaged. A single good wash simply isn't going to fix it.
      If she continues to properly care and maintain her hair, I would almost bet money that her hair would be 10× curlier in just a couple of weeks.

      there are actually classes for this to get certified be ause there is a technique used to achieve maximum results. in my opinion she didnt work it in enough. after u detangle curls and place where wanted thats it. dont want to disrupt the curl. this line is to define each curl in its natural pattern.

    RAKE!?!? YIKES. The only place that EVER mentioned raking was the Ouidad crap. No WAY would I pull on the curl to elongate it. No Deva stylist ever raked at any time (squish to condish!!!). No stylist ever put my hair in place while still in the bowl (even a level 3 certified), LOL. Yes, we scrunch product in upside down (never had a timer going for it, though). Clips are AWESOME to use. Almost had a heart attack w/ the second raking, though. I shake a bit underneath.... Her hair turned out well!

    • @drew_drop
      @drew_drop 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me Irene raking is a good way to ensure the product is pushed into the hair cuticle, a method used by many curly girls.

    • @anthonywill
      @anthonywill 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also raking is used to detangle the hair because brushes are a huge no no. Many of us Curley's only detangle in the shower with conditioner lathered in our hair

      Corinn Keene I have naturally thick curly hair shirley temple ringlet style and I would have loved to have seen her use this technique on someone with thicker curlier hair.....because this works fine on someone with thinner wavier hair to top it off my hair goes past mid back so for me to do this technique would take more time and be much harder they should have used someone else for the video.....

      curls and wurls come in all shapes and sizes! Just like there are different textures of hair there's a variety of curls. There are kinky, cherub, botticelli and waves. Some people have several different curl patterns also. Get Lorraine Massey curly girl handbook to learn about curls or Terri's tightly curly method, all curls depending on texture and type of curl need to be handled a little differently.

    • @idalenavalen5580
      @idalenavalen5580 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MonkeyLove some of us have tight curls that dry out really quickly . There are no tutorial on that is what I meant . I know there are different types of curly hair . Lol

    • @Munky0229
      @Munky0229 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Terri's Tightly curly method might be for you! Google it she's fantastic :)) Deva isn't great IMHO for very dry thirsty hair. SheaMoisture is better.

    • @Munky0229
      @Munky0229 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** Oh and in the CurlyGirl Handbook the process for multicultural curls is similar to Terri's. Lorraine suggests coating your hair with conditioner before getting it wet in shower, to let it soak in. Then wet and work that into scalp and length. Rinse, take another palmful of condish work it through and LEAVE that in. Proceed with gel.

      PatronSaintOfTroll it might not straighten very easily, it depends on the hair, some people with 4c hair can straighten their hair with one pass, i need too run 5-10 passes on a single strand of my 3a hair and even once i get it straight, it will start too fluff and curl back up by lunch time. How easy hair straightens is not an indicator of how curly it is, ive blowdried people who have straight, wavy and curly hair, usually, the straight hair puffs out the most, and the curly hair usualy straightens the best.

    • @strangeduckling
      @strangeduckling 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You have to remember that she hasn't been taking proper care of her hair and that her hair is damaged. A single good wash simply isn't going to fix it.
      If she continues to properly care and maintain her hair, I would almost bet money that her hair would be 10× curlier in just a couple of weeks.
      Plus, her hair has different curl types/patterns all around her head, with the curliest part being on the back of her head. If you watch in a good quality of video, you'll see that she has curl "loops," as well as some ringlets as well.

      Maybe you don't know how the internet and youtube works, "girl". There are a ZILLION videos with #3 and #4 curls demo'ing Deva products including on their website. But I suspect you're a racist and are mocking the hair stylist inferring that she couldn't possibly know how to "deal with "non-Caucasian" hair. Obnoxious. NEWSFLASH: PLENTY OF WHITE PEOPLE WITH STRAIGHT OR LIGHT WAVY HAIR WORK IN THE CORPORATE DEVA HAIR SALONS. But I'm sure a sophisticated chick like YOU goes to NYC all the time to get your hair done, at Devachan right?
