    The "handle" on the full sized notebook is very useful for holding the notebook in your non-dominant hand and writing. That is, if you're standing, or otherwise don't have a desk, and need to write something. Slip your hand through to hold the open notebook. I believe this is more the point than a "carry handle."

    You're correct that Quattro is for pen geeks. Fountain pen folk who want to carry a few differently sized nibs or differently ground nibs like a stub and architect will find it useful.

    I've got the small Lochby notebook and I've had it for probably 9 months now. I like it quite a bit, I got in to journaling and didn't want to buy little amazon basics notebooks anymore so I got the Lochby. I have a pair of pens, a 6" machinists scale, a Sharpie, and a small compass. It's been great I've had oil and grease on it because I have it on the shop floor as well as the office. It's been durable and great the only real downside is every time I go to buy replacement notebooks they are always out of lined variety of paper refills.

    I really like the pocket journal. I use it as my wallet. The external pockets are great once broken in(I used five zebra 701 and left them in the front pockets for about a

    With the pocket journal, you can put 2 books in, the cover slips in that pocket on the left side cover, as well as the back cover pocket, pens slip into the pen pockets on the front cover. The second layer of pockets on the leftsided cover are business cards. It is a great notebook for professionals and trades people on the move. The A5 journal is a folio and traveller notebook all in one. I can fit 3-4 A5 inserts aswell as a notebook (cover slipped into the back pocket as folio), it can handle a lot. You can keep your whole life in that A5 cover, I love it.

    Oh man, I'm really looking for something like this because my whole life-planning and day-to-day-organizing is completely offline and none-digital. But these products here are definitely not what I need. But I love that people are developing products to serve people like me. Keep going maybe someday someone will get it right. The Tool Roll seems to be the most useful here.

    These are really for pen folks (think more fountain pens). The larger loops in the tool roll are for larger diameter pens (some get pretty girthy). The shallow pockets are practical for pen cartridges, nibs, ink cloths, micro-mesh, etc. The color also works, for ease of seeing things.
    Analog writing is making a comeback of sorts. There is something very satisfying seeing one actually write (very personal) than relying the digital world reducing individuality.

  • @elocher4
    @elocher4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just to play contrary here, as a songwriter I prefer to not have perforated notebooks. I carry a small journal in my back pocket everywhere I go and I actually switched to Rite in the Rain pocket notebooks because my old notebooks had perforated pages that would constantly fall out. The downside of course is that a waterproof pen is required to write in them because the paper is coated in wax, but it's extremely tough to tear and it won't fall apart when wet.

    • @jeremyyap6824
      @jeremyyap6824 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Pocket Notebook refills are 3.5"x5.5", so they're the same size as Field Notes and there are Cahiers and plenty of other notebooks that come in that size.
      The Field Notebook refills are A5 size, which is also another common size so you can find plenty of potential refills.

    For all the writers and "stationary nerds" out there, please do a review on some great pens UNDER $50. Maybe some gentleman-style knives in the same price range? The super classy bolt actions you have are very shiny but most of us are never going to spend $100+ on a single pen. Help us find those diamonds in the rough?

    • @Cjbrachio
      @Cjbrachio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check out offerings by Machine Era, for pens. Nick has spoken a great deal about those, and they have a few models under the $50 range.
      As far as “gentleman-style” knives… best advise from my perspective, would be to go to a retailer site, sort all offerings by price, and scroll until you find something you think you like, then come back to TH-cam and check for reviews. The problem with the term “gentleman”, is that, it isn’t particularly a category that means the same thing to everyone. Find something that looks attractive to you, within your budget, and do a little bit of research, chances are that you’ll find what you’re after.

      I picked up a titanium Twosun pen on eBay for $15! I must’ve gotten pretty lucky, and I wouldn’t had bid more than $20 on it at the time, but now that I own it, and knowing what I know about it, I wouldn’t had thought twice about paying $35-$40 for it. Iike it a lot, it’s so smooth, comfortable etc. and I was never into pens before owning this one.

    Must say that I spent some time looking for a portable, (pocketable?), notebook cover not too long ago. And for some completely inexplicable reason, nobody seems to be able to handle a PEN properly with their notebook. Most had nothing, some put them in the completely wrong place, some used "expendable" stretchy loops. You would think it would be an important part of the design process...but, nope.

  • @loganholmberg2295

    I like the notebook but your right about it. It's just like the leather notebooks I already have with chinsey pen holders I don't trust. it needs to hold pens internally with a hard surface that goes over them so it doesn't affect my writing. Then maybe I'd pay 50 us for one.
