Casey Anthony Murder Case | Mental State & Personality | Guilty or Not?

  • This video answers the question: Can I talk about the Casey Anthony murder? Casey Anthony was charged with killing her two-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony. This crime allegedly took place in 2008. I'll be taking a look at a lot of different factors in this case including potential mental health and personality factors, but just to be clear I'm not diagnosing Casey Anthony or anyone else involved in this case.
In 2008, Casey Anthony was 18 years old and Caylee Anthony her daughter was 2 years old. They lived with Casey's parents, Cindy and George Anthony. From an outside observer’s point of view, this case started on July 15, 2008, when Cindy Anthony called the police and reported that her granddaughter was missing for 31 days.
The next day charges of making a false statement to law enforcement were filed against Casey as she lied during the investigation.
in October of 2015, she would be charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child. In December, in a wooded area near their house, Caylee's body was discovered. The trial which started in 2011. There were really two theories of the crime that kind of emerged. On the state side their theory was that Casey bought chloroform used it on Caylee and then suffocated her and on the defense side they said that it was an accidental drowning. The prosecution rested on June 15, 2011 and 15 days later the defense rested. The jury found that Casey Anthony was not guilty of any of the homicide or homicide related charges, but rather providing false information to a law enforcement officer. So she was convicted of four counts of lying to law enforcement and sentenced to one year per count, but when taking into account how long she'd already been in jail and the good behavior time she'd earned, she was released shortly after the verdict.

They did not have this information at the time when the trial was happening! They've searched her internet explorer browser history and did not find any of this stuff. Later on it turned out she was using firefox browser from another account and searched for these words but it was too little too late! Now its not possible to bring this case back to court anymore.

@Michael Evans It is also quite mishandled in the U.S. If a person's diary was legally obtained during a search, and relevant to the charges, it is fair game to use against a criminal defendant. However, typically only the relevant entries will be admissible as evidence. In the U.S. each state has its own rules of evidence and federal courts have the federal rules of evidence. And of course, first, you have to prove who wrote the diary, that’s a separate issue. This comment section is not enough to go through all of the key parts. The answer to whether a personal diary can be used in court as proof, which technically is called evidence, is it depends. In this case, the jury did not find direct connections between the diary's content and the charges.

The is wrong on some of the case facts too. It was proven to be Caylee’s hair in the trunk and it was just speculated by defense that the searches were a software error and they searched when Cindy was clocked in at work, so it was for sure Casey. A lot of people feel that their child is “in the way,“ they wind up being neglectful parents and not giving a shit which she seem to not be. There’s an entire community of people (the majority of Black people) that engage in that type of “parenting,“ Nobody says anything about it it’s just a given. She had choices, easy choices she could’ve just let the grandparents raise her and do whatever the hell she wants, she seems like that type, I’m the same way. She could have given the kid up for adoption, these were choices that would’ve left her less exposure. She’s definitely not stupid, she has a fairly high IQ, it’s pretty obvious, I think she would’ve known that her odds of getting away with something like that would be very small. She valued her freedom and probably would’ve done something more selfish like just do whatever the hell she wanted and let the grandparents watch the kid. Come to think of it I was kind of raised like that at a point and I didn’t even think about it. My mom was divorced and she was out dating or doing whatever the hell she was doing, We lived across the street from my grandparents for a while and I remember being there more than I remember being at the apartment across the street. Very hazy. I think I was only three though... i’m gonna say that her father was a real creep in all of this, he’s an ex cop and knows about these sort of things and seemed like he definitely was a bit of a Socio path. I don’t use that word lightly. It’s possible that he knew that he would be accused of sexual molestation and excepted it for the, “greater good,” of the situation in terms of finding her innocent. I feel like everyone in the house knows that something happened and maybe there’s an agreement of willful blindness and at least two people (Casey and her father) know precisely what happened because they were involved. Probably an accident but there are much more efficient ways to get rid of a body then 19 feet off the road right near your house. To me that seems more like 22-year-old girl thanking then retired cop thinking. Hmmmm Of course the reason she got off is exactly what we’re all talking about, nobody knows. We all have extremely reasonable doubt. You can’t (shouldn’t) convict somebody if nobody knows what the hell is going on and People have “more questions than answers,” as the defense pointed out to the jury, this was I believe very key in the closing arguments. He did a fantastic job “Instructing,” them on a moral, intellectual and legal reason to find her innocent. I also find her attractive, that’s besides the point but I figure I should say that, why not. She’s a crazy, smart, probably psychopathic, slutty sexy little thing. Who wouldn’t want to have sex with that, well maybe a lot of people, but I sure would.

In regards to her parents not reporting Caylee missing even though they lived with them. Casey and Cindy had a big blowout right before Caylee was last seen and Cindy was saying she was going to fight for custody of Caylee. Casey went to stay at her boyfriend's and kept coming up with excuses for her parents. Caylee was with the nanny, they went on a trip, etc. Though her parents didn't really believe it, they just thought Casey was trying to punish them for the fight by keeping Caylee away. So, they had finally nailed down Casey's location and Cindy forced Casey to admit she didn't have Caylee and Cindy finally called 911. Side note: Casey never reported her daughter missing, her mother did, and Casey didn't even want to talk to the 911 dispatcher.

14 What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God's part? By no means! 15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion,[b] but on God, who has mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.
19 You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” 20 But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? 22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory- 24 even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles? 25 As indeed he says in Hosea,
“Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’
and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.’”
      26
“And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’
there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’”

While working with Child Protective Services, I had seen many parents drug (whether alcohol, pills, etc) their children so they could go out to party. Casey may have done this on purpose or by accident, either way, she got off way too easy. I was shocked at the verdict and the thought of her getting away with murder still makes me sick to my stomach. I’m sure she’s doing fine now, she has no conscience and is a habitual liar. And the way her attorneys behaved after the not guilty verdict, jubilantly celebrating (the old guy gave the finger to reporters) only shows you this is a game to them. The prosecution produced overwhelming evidence in support of murder--a dead baby with it's mouth covered with duct tape in a few trash bags thrown into nearby woods and a mother who didn't report her missing and consistently lied to her friends, parents, and police. The defense produced a cooky theory about an accidental drowning and a loving mother throwing her child's body into the woods to allow it to decompose and let the animals eat it while she entered a Hot Body Contest at a bar to console herself in her grief.
This jury would have bought oceanfront property in Arizona from the defense attorney because they had to sit in that courtroom for months and he made it interesting. They didn't adjudicate on evidence. The facts just weren't as interesting as a far out narrative. I wouldn't be surprised if all the jurors in the case haven't joined a cult at this point.

The biggie being that um.. a DEAD BODY was confirmed to have been in the back of her car! All the specialists who testified to the smell, George!, then the cadaver dogs who are extremely accurate, and finally the defense specialist who later confirmed he wasn't allowed to speak on anything but the science of the trash. Had he been allowed to expand, 100% he would have confirmed he believed it was a dead body. I mean... case closed Casey.

I think that her Parents were supporting her. At the very least they were babysitting Kaley. I think that they were expecting Casey to do more for Kaley. They were still married, as was and is the norm for many people. Casey never married her baby Daddy. To them this was probably a source of irritation.
I also think that Mr and Mrs Anthony intimated that they could take her kid. Maybe that they would take her kid, so that the little girl would be raised "responsibly". Casey was too busy partying and having a good ole time to be a real Mom as her parents saw it.
They probably made her parenting painful. They chipped in with supporting the baby. Maybe they could do a better job than she? Casey probably loved her daughter but also reckoned that if she couldn't have her than nobody could have her.
"If I can't have her, nobody is going to have her!" is a common motive. It's idiotic thinking. I would rather see someone in good hands than be dead. I've let girlfriends go for that reason. The test was re-run and again found to be inconclusive. He spoke with the office in CA that processes the tests and he received some info as to why the results could be inconclusive. Basically I scored extremely high in honesty and consistency in my responses but yet there were no other patterns to be found anywhere. So apparently they seek specific patterns and I was all over the place in my answers but still considered extremely honest and consistent. The psychiatrist accused me of randomly filling out the test and not taking it seriously and that wasn't the case at all. I took it very seriously and answered each question very honestly. Cindy tried to protect Casey by saying it was her who googled "chloroform", but obviously this computer search happened to a specific time at which Cindy was at work.
While Casey did pretty well at school she dropped out of high school without telling their parents. She left the house every morning and went to the mall. That's kind of when her career as a professional liar and con artist began, and her parents apparently went along and even attended her "graduation" making up excuses why their daughter wasn't actually called to get her diploma. Weird much?
I'm troubled about the result of the psychological evaluations. There's no way she can be "normal"?! She can be very convincing, however. Do you think she played both experts?
I like that you didn't chicken out of publicly saying she did it. I tend to like the manslaughter scenario. She drugged Caylee so she'd sleep through Casey's nights out. One night she overdosed and panicked. Her whole life she had gotten away with bullshitting her way out of trouble - why not this time?
Thanks for your videos, I like to listen to how you approach these questions.

Tamara Gerber so I am positive she is borderline personality disorder, histrionic type at very LEAST. And unless an evaluator sees evidence of it during the brief time they are involved with her, it’s not going to be diagnosed because any smart borderline or sociopath can fake normal in a contrived clinical situation. We know that doesn’t occur from an organic issue in the brain or biochemistry or genetics, but as a result of a systematically & dysfunctional and traumatic environment. I think she’s an only child (?) so the parents could direct all the dysfunction onto her from birth. They certainly are not going to give ANY negative history when asked! Also, Casey is smart and every smart borderline seems WONDERFUL at first but as you observe over time....watch out! And in an outpatient clinical setting you may never get a glimpse of the behaviors, reactions etc that are troubling. I’ve been clinical but with access to residential or actually working right in the residence. Lately, it’s with adults in rehabs, detoxes & halfway houses. I can say without a shadow of doubt that meeting someone like Casey Anthony for a couple one on one sessions, there is no way to observe her “natural” behaviors, reactions and belief systems. She’s smart. She knows what’s distorted in her thinking and even tho she thinks SHE’S RIGHT she also knows what answers are expected from her. So ultimately this is all moot I just realized because diagnosing a mental disorder would not have helped convict her. It would aid the defense. Who clearly did the impossible without it! And had she been found to have any form of sociopathy like a personality d/o it would’ve been moot because she still knows right and wrong! A sociopath just doesn’t care. We’d be blaming the finding of not guilty of any murder charge on the mental disorder had she been determined to have one, instead of being shocked and dumbstruck at what many feel is a miscarriage of justice.

I am bowled over by your mommy skills but that anecdote has nothing to with whether or not Anthony is guilty. I hate when people who are completely untrained and uneducated in psychology make judgements about how others act during and after traumatic occurrences. I will go ahead and add---I know of a case in which the accused was absolutely innocent and the DA made judgements about how the accused was acting during the first month after the allegation. The accused was not acting sad and upset enough about the situation for the DA. The accused posted a picture of herself on social media smiling. I was told by the accused that she was in shock, the situation didn't seem real, it seemed like a novel she was reading, like it was happening to someone else during that early time. A few months later, it hit her full force. And I know that's very similar to how my brain reacted when my husband unexpectedly died at a young age. So I've had just about enough of "Anthony didn't act sad or worried or panicked, at least not that we can see, she danced and smiled, she must be guilty." I don't know whether she's guilty or not, and I don't know, if she is guilty, exactly WHAT she's guilty of, but her behavior proves nothing.

The most you can say about it, by itself, is that it could prove she had something to hide, but what? That she killed her with malice aforethought? We don't know. That she killed her accidentally? We don't know. That she knows who killed her and is covering up for that person? We don't know. That she was negligent in leaving her daughter for too long with the person who then killed her? We don't know. Or she had nothing to do with it but has a mental illness which led her to act inappropriately afterward and then concoct lies? We don't know.

      @jn8ive60 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@cheriszymanski2752 *Sigh*. Blame them for WHAT? The prosecutors could not prove how, when, or where Caylee Anthony died. When you can't prove any of those three things, you do not have even a manslaughter case, let alone a first degree murder case. The prosecutors did the best with what they had, but they didn't have enough. There was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING "cut and dry" about it. And what do you think the judge did incorrectly?
Yes, yes, you were worried about your daughter when she didn't get off the bus and you acted immediately. Good mommy. Guess what? When my children were young, I did exactly the same thing. They could tell you stories about it. I can tell you a story about it. When my thirteen-year-old daughter was not outside the movie theater when I arrived to pick her up, I immediately drove to the police station. Impressive enough, I hope.
But I use my brain and so I know that the fact that a different mother behaved very differently when her daughter went missing is not proof, in and of itself, that she murdered her.
For the record, I am not arguing that Casey Anthony is innocent. I do not know whether or not she was guilty, and if she was guilty, I do not know exactly what she was guilty of. What I do know is that the case could not be and was not proven against her, and I would rather see a hundred guilty people go free than to see our system of "innocent until prove guilty" go by the wayside.

I thought perhaps the attention Cindy gave to Caylee made Casey upset. I wondered if Cindy failed to show very much love to Casey as she was growing up. Then when Casey saw all the attention her mother was giving to Caylee, it made her jealous and angry. Therefore, perhaps Casey decided to get back at her mother by eliminating Caylee. Dr Phil’s latest click-bait: “Lady Gaga’s Choreographer Evaluates 20-Year-Old Who Claims She’s The Best Dancer In The World.” On the show, Dr Phil and the choreographer publicly shamed the dancer after she performed-all for the benevolent purpose of slapping her with a big fat reality check. Did she meet any criteria for a personality or mood disorder? We’ll never know....
Dear CRACKERJack, I appreciate your comment in defense of Dr Phil, citing his saintly patience. But he NEEDS the patience of a saint - considering the fact that his guests are cherry-picked for their extreme dysfunction - and considering the delicious drama that comes from The Hawthorn Effect, when people modify their behavior because they know they’re being observed. Extremely dysfunctional people + Hawthorn Effect = Dr. Jerry-Springer-Phil.
Yet I can see why you stuck up for Dr Phil. He’s famous. He’s friends with Oprah. He’s not a complete monster. For example, he offers his guests post-show interventions & counseling, which is a good thing. But unfortunately he also offers his guests with a sensational slew of on-the-spot therapies that involve surprise! family members, surprise! criticism, and surprise! topic changes. At least one person has committed suicide, and many lives and reputations have been damaged, after being Dr-Philled. He’s been sued by guests, and his conduct has been reprimanded by the APA.
But the whole reason for my post was to comment on how Dr Grande’s educational approach is helping mental health and mental illness. Now that he’s doing more videos about famous (and infamous) people, I began to think about another PhD psychologist whose show features famous people. Comparing the two made me take a closer look at Dr Phil... how ridiculous his approach and antics are, and how they actually support the prejudice, ignorance, and stigma that surrounds mental health.
It’s no wonder that Dr Phil surrendered his psychology license 14 years ago-something he should be disclosing at the beginning of every TV episode. He’s not “textbook.” He couldn’t, or wouldn’t, adhere to at least one of psychology’s core ethical duties: “To strive to help the public in developing informed judgments and choices concerning human behavior.... in order to contribute to human welfare.” Dr Grande, on the other-hand, does this grandly. While Dr Phil has made a mockery out of mental illness, Dr Grande is giving it a makeover, making it both legit and fascinating.

He said she was incredibly manipulative and made sure to appear solely one way in front of the jury, but when they were not in the room she'd be loud and obnoxious, yelling at her attorneys and just being a B. Well, one of the biggest problems with the state's case was they charged Anthony with first degree murder and the autopsy was indeterminate (ie they couldn't say for certain how she died). Or when. Or where. So first degree murder is really overplaying your hand, so to speak. Something like you're talking about, with a 'involuntary manslaughter' charge due to negligence would have been much more likely to land a conviction.

You people think you know the facts of the case as they were heard in the court room, when in reality, you only know of little bits here and there, usually to sway you into believing one side or the other. The 12 jurors heard all the facts of the case and received a set of jury instructions that had to be followed. These instructions are generally clear and concise. e.g If you determine that Casey did not do action "X" then charge "1" should yield a "Not guilty" verdict and lesser included charges should not be considered etc. So all in all, based on what was discussed in the court and based on the legal standards, they probably yielded the correct verdict.
I personally believe that she DID commit the murder. However it is incredibly important, above all, to maintain the presumption of innocence and the proving of one's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The reality is that sometimes we will get cases like these. Cases where the common sense part of our minds tell us that of course "she's guilty!" but the evidence-based side of the case don't actually sufficiently support that proposition. This is unfortunately a part of a justice system that leans in favour of the freedom and liberties of defendants, as it should.

After the week was up Casey had claimed that she had a problem with her car, delaying her return home. And then more & more excuses until finally the parents freaked out completely and called police. She said every time she wants to speak to Caylee, Casey hasn’t put her on the phone, making excuses. These parents clearly wouldn’t have instantly thought, “They’re not back in a week, she must have murdered Caylee”. No parent would just think that. Even if you have a bad feeling you’d be in denial. I think these parents are amazing. The fact that they alerted the police when their pain and panic became bigger than denial about their daughter. Let’s face it..most people would still try to protect their child, even though they believed they’d killed a child. Look at psychopath Cindy Watts.

The impound company who had her car which tied to her parents was the first thing giving the parents cause in the eyes of the law to have police look for them. The mother and father (ex cop), knew enough about the fl law and are now worried enough, to know to say it smells like a dead body. Cindy tried to retract that statement to some degree because at that point she lost her granddaughter and didn’t want to have her daughter die by lethal injection too. You are right, after one week of the run around even from a lifer problem-child doesn’t make you say my granddaughter might be dead. I have a problem child, she withholds me from seeing my grandson when she’s mad at me or up to something and doesn’t want to be accountable and in fl, it’s perfectly legal for her to do so as his parent.

She kept telling Cindy that Caylee couldn't come to the phone because she was asleep or off with the nanny. I'm sure that Cindy must have been frantic. At the same time, in a state of denial, not coming to terms with what could have happened.
I disagree with Dr. Grande in the way that he makes it sound as if Cindy was inactive during that month that she didn't see Caylee. She was calling her constantly. The lie about George covering up a drowning death was ridiculous, as most of Casey's lies were. If that would have happened, he would have reported it immediately. It really just surprises me, like of course the jury was doing their job to the letter, and their decision was out of what I consider a technicality of burden based upon the rules that a jury must follow. But at what point does someone say “Fuck the burden of the state, she clearly did something, and a little girl lost her life because of it. She can’t escape punishment, we are responsible for making sure she doesn’t.” I feel like that should be the ultimate job of the jury in the end. But of course, that’s just my opinion.

1980Punk I agree she’s guilty, but our court systems are based on a standard of reasonable doubt. In this case, the way they presented the evidence leaves room for doubt. I think the jury was right, and the blame falls on the prosecution. Again, I agree, Casey Anthony should be in prison. This is a fail on the part of our prosecutors.

If she had just over sedated her why the duct tape? Did she think that the baby might wake up after the sedation wore of? Who the hell knows, but there is a dead child at the end of the day whilst in her "mothers" care and when her corpse was found she had duct tape around her mouth, she was wrapped in plastic bags, inside a hold-all in some woods near her parents home. Well she didn't do it to herself and she wasn't in the care of her grandparents. Go figure.

This case stunk from day 1. That's a woman with a black heart. She was staying with her boyfriend after a argument with the folks. She told her parents she'd dropped her child off at a babysitters and hadn't seen her for 31 days. Umm, no. A loving mother doesn't let her child go missing for 31 days. Her daughter was cramping her style. The majority of young guys don't want baggage and instant dad isn't appealing. She got rid of her baggage. I think she did it and convinced her parents to cover it up. She may have said she drowned and they bought it. What good would it do to lose your daughter as well? We all react differently to tragic events. Going partying isn't usually what one would expect. No "normal person" would know their child is dead and say it's Party time. The most horrific event possible is the loss of a child. This should have destroyed her but she just kept on trucking as if she didn't have a care in the world.

I do not believe Casey’s father was ever in on it. Idk if you saw the interview with her parents about 3 years ago but her father has absolutely no contact with her. The mother is doing everything she possibly can to rebuild a relationship with Casey. The only reason the mother & Casey do not have a strong relationship (at least as of 3 years ago, they may now) is because Casey chooses not to, the mother constantly calls and begs to see her. The father & the mother have almost divorced because of the mother’s refusal to acknowledge that the drowning theory is BS. They also have almost separated due to the mother still testifying on Casey’s behalf after Casey accused her father of the horrible molestation charges. It was heartbreaking to see the pain and frustration in the father’s face as he sat there with the mother through the interview. He has lost everything; his granddaughter, his daughter, and a genuine relationship with his wife. I don’t believe he was ever involved.

The worst thing about this is that I've read that Casey has "recovered" from those "horrible times" she hard, according to her lawyer, and she is still dating and partying in Florida and will release a movie about her life story this year (although it might get postponed due to Corona). I watched the trial carefully and listened to the evidence and the defense. Personally, I do find her behavior bizarre when taken overall. First, she says that the nanny who is interestingly enough called Xanny, which is also a street name for Xanax, kidnapped her daughter. She told a story about working at a location where she did not work and took the detectives there on a wild goose chase. She found an apartment complex with a tenant's name Zenaida and then used that as the supposed location where she had left her daughter thereby implicating this woman who had nothing to do with it. Then, the defense does a 180 and says that the child drowned, that she found her, and that, when she told her father, together they decided to cover it up!? Now, we are talking about reasonable when it comes to believing the evidence one hears at trial. There is nothing reasonable about the premise that one's child has drowned accidentally and rather than call 911 and attempt resuscitation, you decide to bag the child up and dump them in the woods. I do not know how the jury considered that as a reasonable response which therefore gave them reasonable doubt as to the State's statement of facts. Circumstantial evidence is every bit as strong as direct evidence and can be considered with the same weight. I believe that the circumstantial evidence in this case points to Casey Anthony accidentally overdosing her child with Xanax, possibly, in order to make her sleep, or possibly using some other method to make her sleep and left her in the trunk, so no one would see a child sleeping alone in a vehicle, where she died while her mother was out partying. I know that that is a theory but whether it was exactly that way or some other I do believe Casey was responsible for her daughter's death. I do not believe that she intentionally killed the child so first degree murder would not have applied. As to her behavior, of course I defer to the experts., however, just from the facts that were presented, her behavior is rather distant, detached, showing little empathy and if one watches the meeting she had with her parents while she was in jail and how angry she became and how she attacked them, things become a little clearer. I found her very manipulative with her parents. I was also amazed at the ease with which she lied and the level to which she was able to make those lies believable. Or in other words, how credible she came across as though she believed them herself. Even though later in the trial we find out that her story has completely changed. I do not believe that George Anthony sexually abused her or would have taken his granddaughter and dumped her in the woods, in the swamp, in a bag.

Everything you say I agree with and this is one reason the police should have immediately taken this way to a psych ward and had her committed as they did the investigation. They still could have gone back to the psychiatric ward and asked her anything about the case or anything to help. Also, a psychiatrist maybe could have had a bit of Fortune in getting some truth from her mouth but I kind of doubt it TBH. When someone doesn't call about their kid after 31 days and then they send the officers on these chases for people that don't exist such as the nanny, that's enough to put this lady in the psych ward because she's absolutely not sane. It's not excusing her but I am saying that if this was normal thinking with parents, we would hear stories like this every single day multiple times on the news. You wrote what you did and you ask yourself if this sounds like someone that's got all her marbles in the right place? Not saying that this makes her innocent any more than it would make Ted Bundy innocent. But Ted Bundy is a psychopath and sociopath based on the psychiatrist and their assessments when he was still on Earth. so I personally think that Casey Anthony should have been taken to a psych ward quickly since she was taking the cops on a wild Chase like chickens with their head cut off. Maybe the shrinks could have got something out of her that the police could not. I mean you know that when you said that you already understood and understand this is weird behavior not to report a kid missing. The crazy thing is they never put her in a psychoid the entire time to try to see if a shrink could maybe pull the truth out. SMH I'm sorry but I'm using speech to text and it still gets me riled up just thinking about the entire case back in the days. You made a lot of good points. Peace

I am a criminal law defense lawyer, with 30 years of experience and for me, saying that the state did not prove its case instead of 'I did not do it' is a tell tale sign. That said I really like your nuanced verdict. We simply can never be sure.

I think the key that was over looked early on in the case, Was in a jail conversation with her mother, She admitted that her daughter wasn't far from where they lived. It turned out to be true. Only the guilty party would have known that detail.

The parents ruined their lives and reputations to cover for their daughter. They allowed themselves to be sacrificed to save Casey from life behind bars. Poor Caylee had a monster for a mother. Justice was not served in this case. Caylee was thrown away like trash. So sorry for my grammar error you are correct about the word thrown. Thank you for that I should have known better.😊

It’s likely that all the previous times they had let her off the hook & covered for her was what created the monster she became. Not that it was all their fault. Pretty sure she has had the seeds of sociopathy in her character from a young age, and was probably able to deceive her parents from early on. Who doesn’t want to believe their children?! And she is a very convincing liar. The problem is that when they did actually catch her out in a serious lie, they not only accepted her ridiculous explanation, but also covered up for her to family & friends. So, what did they teach her? My behaviour has no consequences; I can get away with anything. One thing I will say, though, is that I hope she never ends up in an unhappy marriage or with another child who becomes inconvenient, because I would be seriously concerned about the life expectancy of either husband or child (especially if there’s another guy in the background)!

No, they really didn’t realize she was missing. Every time they asked Casey about it she fabricated another plausible explanation. Casey often took Kaylee with her & stayed with friends or boy friends. She once took her on a road trip out of state. Remember, Cindy didn’t even notice that Casey was 8 months pregnant, even though every one else noticed it. She firmly believed that Casey had never had sex!! She is blind when it came to Casey. She survives on denial, poor woman. And she’s very controlling, but with a child like Casey who’s a pathological liar, maybe she HAD to be!

To answer your last question, Dr. Grande, Casey had been lying to George and Cindy and believed her for most of her life. When they asked her her about not bringing Caylee home she always had an answer for those 31 days she did not bring her home. Once they found the abandoned car, Cindy got serious and begin calling people and going to look for Casey. That's when she called the police. For my thoughts on whether she killed her baby or not: Of course, she did. I also believe she had been abusing and torturing her child for years. I watched that trial everyday. She had been fired from her job more than 2 years prior to Caylee's death, yet from the time Caylee was a year old she took her every day to a " baby sitters" while she was working as an event planner. So my questions are where was she putting Caylee, what was she doing with Caylee or who was taking care of Caylee and where did Casey go for all those years and WHY was that never brought out at her trial?

  • @AccordingtoJexi

This was probably the saddest case I ever watched. Knowing she was found not guilty crushed a lot of people. There was just about no one who watched that case unfold that didn't believe she was guilty. So so sad all around

The State ultimately failed the little girl. They did not prove the burden of guilt. I agree with everything you said. But the state should have not left this to chance and if they weren't ready they shouldn't have gone to trial. Thanks to double jeopardy protections they will never get a second chance to try this woman.

      I think you're right.
One thing I don't understand though. The prosecution thought that Casey Anthony probably murdered her daughter but they didn't really know for sure because they didn't know the circumstances of Caylee's death. Yet they were aggressively seeking the death penalty. So State officials are actively trying to get a US citizen executed for a crime that they don't even know was committed (1st degree murder) - let alone whether Casey Anthony did it or not. And nobody said anything about it. Where was the trial - Florida or North Korea?

  • @colleenjohnstoncomedy3036

The Anthony’s didn’t know where Casey even lived. Cindy has to ask Casey’s friend to lie to Casey and lead her to where she lived. Casey was making up stories not answering their call etc etc
