Hauslane 30" Stainless Steel Under Cabinet Range Hood | Lowes Home Installation

- My Samsung microwave with exhaust fan finally broke so I had to replace it. Instead of replacing it with another similar unit, I decided to upgrade to a dedicated range hood because I do a lot of cooking.
UPDATE: I think the vent ducting is bigger than the range hood outlet so air is escaping through the opening because it's not an exact tight fit.

Hi Jay, I just installed mine. During the frying/smoke test, I had no issues whatsoever. It caught >99% of the smoke. The difference in my installation was to replace the rectangular output to a 6” round. The under cabinet was refitted with a new round cut. The height also makes total difference, my old install was at 23” from the gas stove. I moved it up to 28”, creating a better catch area. Yes, the cabinet was also shortened.
It’s been a week with some heavy cooking, and so far, Hauslane hasn’t found its match yet!
Thanks for watching. I had Lowes install mine but they didn't use the aluminum tape so I was forced to make it work myself: th-cam.com/video/aeN-ZVjPxkk/w-d-xo.html
If you continue to press the fan speed decrease button it will turn the fans off. That way you don't need to shut down the power. So fan speed decrease 654321 then press again for off.
Yes. The Lowes contracting company is coming back out to investigate about the air leakage because they forgot to check for air tightness.
Hi Jay- I am thinking to purchase a hood range. I am thinking of Hauslane PS18 or PS38. Ps38 is little expensive but have better review. Not sure if its worth the money. Have you ever used IKTCH 900 cfm under cabinet hood? my biggest issue is cooking smell (Indian). any suggestion will be appreciated. TIA!
I've never used that brand. I would suggest getting a higher CFM and read the online reviews. Also ensure airtight fit during installation.
I have the PS-38 and I LOVE it. I also have a Forno stove with 5 20K burners, and my hood is able to handle all 6 burners (100K BTU). Very little smoke and smell remain in my kitchen. You will not be disappointed.
Yours must be properly installed and sealed airtight to prevent leakage. Who installed it?@@DennisGrahamJR
Those people need to CLEAN 🧽 after they cook every time!! Lazy people.. I’d give it 1 year until it’s all caked up with grease again.
The grease buildup was from the lack of a proper exhaust system and since I do a lot of stir frying. That is why I changed it to a dedicated range hood instead of a microwave combo.
Great under cabinet Hauslane ventilation hood! Curious since you got it at such a great price - did you buy it around Black Friday?
I bought this around June.
You should really clean all around your stove and behind it, you have a beautiful exhaust hood, we have the same one, but your stove area is greasy.
Thanks for the tips!
Do you have a problem with the clock? I am looking at the same model but Amazon reviews show the clock runs slow eventually, by 15 mins in some cases
I just checked. It looks like it's slow by 5-6 min.
@@Jay_Rule that's unfortunate but oh well. I just bought this model as it looks to be the best option for under the cabinet style range hoods at this price range. Need that ultra high CFM for Asian cooking and wok action haha
@@superrmang The clock is the least of your worries as you can always reset it or make it a few minutes faster. Are you installing it or Lowes/Home Depot? If you have them install it, make sure to have them use the right size adapter or the provided aluminum tape to ensure it doesn't leak air. This video will explain everything: th-cam.com/video/NEc2_DW9Re8/w-d-xo.html
Your under cabinet range hood got Boing 787 engines. Very powerful suction…
lol, good eye
Do you have make-up-air since it is >400cfm ?
What is make up air??
@@Jay_Rule Due to homes being air-tight these days,we need to replace the air that was just vented out by the range-hood. If not, it will start to pull undesired air (CO, other air) from fire-place, gas water heaters etc. Usually your city sets the building code. Most ppl dont know about it and the person selling you the hood dont want you to know about it:). Read it up.
I am in the process of installing a fresh air system. For now, I open my sliding glass door in the kitchen.
What is the model? UC-PS18SS-30 or UC-PS38SS-30
The purchase link is in the description. It's the UC-PS18SS-30 model
It looks like it getting sucked through the light sockets not the vents
That is because they didn't properly attach it. It should be air tight. The installers didn't even use the aluminum tape.
How many CFM?
Advertised as 850CFM but the contracting company for Lowes didn't even bother checking for air tightness or use the aluminum tape so now there is air escaping which inhibits the performance.
Very thorough review, much appreciated. But smoke overflow with simple steak frying suggests its a do not buy. Wouldn't frequent stir fry Asian style be even worse. Wish you'd do that test, stir fry meat + veggies, for example, or update your daily usage results. Thanks.
Thanks for watching. It's not the fault of the range hood but the installers: th-cam.com/video/NEc2_DW9Re8/w-d-xo.html
bro did u really just hang two air plane pictures up instead of cleaning or painting that wall? 😆
I did because I didn't have time to renovate or clean 🤣
@@Jay_Rule that's so funny! You just need a good degreaser and all that stuff will wipe off the wall and cabinets too.
Well anyway nice hood. How has it held up?
I do have degreaser. Unfortunately, the contractors Lowes hired didn't use the aluminum tape so there is leakage. I have to find a way to open the duct box in order to apply the tape. I show the problem in this video: th-cam.com/video/NEc2_DW9Re8/w-d-xo.html@@FilthyCasual_Jhn20v29
ThankYou !!
yw
They didn't even connected to the outside venting vent
Lowes stated their contractors don't check for airtightness. It looks like I will have to open up the duct box myself and install the aluminum tape: th-cam.com/video/NEc2_DW9Re8/w-d-xo.html
@@Jay_Ruledid it help? I got the same one and noticed it’s pretty weak too.
@@AznAnarchy99 Did you check to see if they used the aluminum tape to ensure air tightness? I bet there is a leak like mine. Check to see if the outside vent flaps are indeed flapping.
Glad I’m not eating there. Nasty
Ouch
