    The amount of work you put into your videos is astounding! And the brilliance of it is how you mesh humour with characters and still offer a super clear explanation of the core mechanics of each game you are reviewing! I have been binge watching your videos since I discovered your channel. In my opinion you take the number ONE spot in board game reviews!

    I have to say, i haven't really had much experience with hidden movement games, but the experience i have had with them is pretty entertaining, I recently played my first game of "Escape from Aliens", and it felt just so suspenseful, up until the point i realized I was the only player anywhere 4, and had managed to convince everyone, mainly through some very lucky card drawing, I was on the other side of the whole map. Easily one of my favorite boardgame moments I've ever had. Great video and review, and your comedy is really good! keep up the good work!

  • @mzrousar

    Thanks for the video! I've played Scotland Yard (fun but a bit light) and Dracula (way too long for me) and love the idea of hidden movement but haven't found my sweet spot. White Chapel and Specter Ops look like they should be next on my list. Thanks for the give away! Very generous of you :)

      Mr Jack is a decent 2 player game, but it's VERY different to Letters from Whitechapel. Mr. Jack doesn't use hidden movement in its truest sense, as seen in these six games. It's a much more puzzly, abstract game.

      Yeah, I love the theme. In fact, I think I prefer it to all of the themes in this video, except perhaps Nuns on the Run. Rumour has it, Renovation Games will be bringing it back - I hope they bring it up to date and give us a less massive box!

    4:06 The fact that you included this joke so that the 7 people who live in Australia could guffaw just a bit too loud while watching this is why you're a bloody ripper mate. May Jon the ripper be as infamous in a hundred years as that Jack fellow who seems like a lovely bloke.

    I picked up a copy of Spector Ops a few months back and I really enjoy playing it. I feel like it balances really well between the hunters and the spy. Also playing with one secret traitor on the hunter team mixes things up in a really fun way. Its fun watching the hunters tear each other apart with suspicion trying to figure out which one of them is the traitor.

    • @actualol
      @actualol  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ian Whitley Yeah, I really want to try the traitor version again. The rules are really underwritten for it, but I love the idea.

    • @Chezetoats
      @Chezetoats 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actualol that is true. It could use an extra page of just clarification on the rules. Although I realized after playing a game called Warrior Knights that I much prefer underwritten rules to overwritten rules, that game had pages and pages of verbose explanation for no reason and made it hard to keep track of what the actual rules were.

    I grew up with Scotland Yard and Clue: The Museum Caper, both of which are largely responsible (along with Sleuth) for my immediate interest in later years, when I heard that board games were in a renaissance. I own Specter Ops and Escape the blah-blah-blah-horrible-name, and I've played Whitechapel once or twice. Specter Ops is by far my favorite. It's just so tense and exhausting. With the 5-player traitor game, the tension is on both sides of the table. Great great game.
    Thanks for another fantastic video. I always look forward to your next offering.

    Is it just me, or are these games extra gorgeous? Letters, Ops, Fury, and even Aliens all might be some of the most visually pleasing games I've seen.

    • @actualol
      @actualol  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Stephen Hager Yeah, completely agree. The board for Specter Ops is stunning and the Whitechapel one isn't far behind. The Nuns on the Run board looks very dated in comparison.

    • @stevehager
      @stevehager 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Someone somewhere did a comparison between the Whitechapel map and a map of actual Whitechapel at the time and it is spot on! I think the mood set by the Specter board is perfect for the gameplay as is Fury. Nuns and Scotland Yard do seem dated but still enjoyable to look at (I guess I've got a thing for maps/building layouts)!
      Thanks for the video(s), love the way you showcase games!
