The year this song was released around 80/81 I started to learn to play pan with my hometown band Merry Tones from Diego Martin, Trinidad. I had to call it a day because when the melody was in Port of Spain I was now coming outta Diego, talk bout outta timing!!! And when somehow ah meet dem in town ah used to blow pass dem and end up in San Fernando, while they now reaching San Juan!!
Well, my story is a bit long, but... Crazy walked in, and invited me to his house in Diego. He burned the song, along with 8 other Crazy Christmas tunes, onto a CD for me, His one condition was that I promise not share his music with those who would seek to profit from it by "bootlegging" - a promise I have kept to this day. I named the CD "Crazy : One of a Kind" In honour of the "chance" meeting. One day if I meet him again I'll ask him to autograph the CD for me. He is a great guy! CRAZY!
@Caribman9999 You have one on me! 1979 he release his first album 'Crazy's Super Album' CM001 which had Parang Soca. He had a 12" single Parang Soca and Muchacha in 1979 CM003. His next recording was an album was in 1980 called 'Madness Is Gladness' CM003 which he had 'Muchacha' on it. If you take the file #CM003 on the 12" single you will see it is the same file #CM003 on his 1980 album. Yes, it was released for Christmas '79 but was popular for Carnival 1980 that is why I play it in 1980!
Classic Muchacha by Crazy! Can someone post up the original that everybody likes to hear? The original with more upbeat tempo, more musical instruments.

The radio used to play "Parang Soca" and the original "Muchacha" for Christmas. Thanks to ScorpioPetey for bringing back the memories but although this "Madness is Gladness" version from 1980 is okay....it's not the best. It's still out there (the original of 1979) waiting to be found and posted. The original does not have Crazy saying "Remember Madness is Gladness!" which is a signature of the Madness is Gladness LP version

My search ended at Crosby's in St. James, though Crosby's was not able to solve my problem, since the song is apparently not on any CD except as a Crazy 3-song- medley). Then Crazy, i.e. Mr Edwin Ayong, aka Calypso Crazy of course, walked in: (yes, he himself: how Crazy was that, eh,man?) How he helped me get the song that's my Crazy favourite is below.

I seem to recall going to a wedding in early December 1979 and partying to this song there (it was at the Bel Air Hotel in Piarco). Anyone have any AUTHENTIC information about the release date? The other thing I remember about this song I will put into another comment below.

This is not a parang sokah. Just because we hearing spanish words and rhythm. It's a blend of two rhythms.
