Why are people acting like her reaction to that is unreasonable? Emily was refusing to cooperate and didn't care if she was a danger to the others. The stranger said the Wendigo detect movement. No one can explain why they think Emily is incapable of finding another room to hide in. Emily does not have a crystal ball, and just because she says something out of fear does not make it fact. Seems like more self pity and bandwagoning from the fandom to me.
@@scm4942 After a while the Wendigo will realise, the flamethrower guy said that Wendigo's can smell you (when he and Chris go get Josh) and also, if you knock out Josh with the bat, the wendigo will still take him, even though it was impossible for him to move. The flamethrower guy even said that it should be used as a last resort

Why do you think Emily would be facing "certain death" in different room similar to the one they are in? The flamethrower guy said to get down to the basement. There are plenty of other rooms in the basement, and if Emily did start transforming in a different room it would give the others time to escape. I mean, they have to do something if they believe Emily is a threat.
He was still injured by the Wendigo. Plus, he probably knows Em well enough not to get between her and somebody else while they're fighting. Also, if you look at him after Emily slaps Ashley, he does something that could be described as reaching out for her.
Just imagine all of your friends turn on you and having to wait while they decide whether you're going to die or not...and then finding out that they freaked out and threatened you over nothing with "I was scared" as their only excuse, like you weren't fucking terrified, and then them saying "try to understand" after threatening to kill you. That slap was 100% deserved, and this is coming from someone who likes Ash better than Emily
This scene is actually the one reason why I like Emily the slightest bit more than Ashley. Ashley's over-confidence in her own intellect almost costed an innocent person's life, that person being a bitch not withstanding. Another thing is that even though Ashley herself seems to find it a legit reason to shoot your friend to survive, she is willing to let Chris be mauled by Wendigo for doing the exact same thing to her. Ashley's a hypocrite.

Retorting to violence and slapping doesn't "make you a human". Giving in to stress and voice out your doubts like what Ashley did is what a normal person would do, Ashley could have just taken the gun from Mike and straight out shoot Emily, but she didn't, she was scared and paranoid, she doesn't want to die as much as anyone there felt. But slapping her even after she apologised and express remorse makes that person a BITCH. Like, it's not as if her claims were baseless, it's a situation where one mistake can lead to her loved one (Chris) and friends (Mike and Sam) DEAD too. And honestly, I don't like either of the characters so there's no bias here. I'm just saying this based on the situation. Did Emily deserved the doubts and accusation, maybe not, but did Ashley deserves the slap? It's even less justified than what Emily had. Of course, I don't expect a character like Emily to just let it go and forget about it but I wouldn't go as far as saying that Ashley deserves it.
Look, I don’t hate Ashley. I was honestly more in favor of her over Em in the beginning but boy I cheered when she got that slap. She nearly got a friend *killed* over nothing and Emily was right in that what she did was inexcusable.

The "after all this time, you're still cranky" got me so pissed? Bc she's acting like this isn't a highly stressful situation that anybody would be terrified (and a lot of ppl use anger as a defense mechanism bc they don't like being afraid or feeling vulnerable)

To be fair, he was still in pain for running away from the Wendigo and he is traumatized for seeimg the old get his head chopped off in front of him. Plus if you shoot Em and he is alive you can see Chris Rocking back and forth in complete shock.

Chris is exhausted, traumatized and injured. He had to 'kill' Josh (fake, sure but the image of the pig intestines falling all over is still burned into his brain) he had to shoot himself, he learned his best friend has been giving him ptsd all night as revenge for a prank he wasn't even part of. He's been awake how many hours(?) Running through the snow, he saw a man killed right in front of him, he was almost killed by Wendigos (which seems to be something he never even heard of before) and then he watched Mike almost shoot Emily. It's a small miracle he can even stand up. Also the slap comes almost out of nowhere. Even Sam didn't expect it.

How was Ashley supposed to know his journal had information about the bites? It could have been a log of his daily activity for all she knew. Besides, she didn't want Emily killed. Ashley's relationship with Mike drops to zero if he killed Emily. Also Ashley is traumatized and emotionally unstable at this point in the game. I am sure she would love to control her emotions if she could.

She said in all caps "OMG CAN YOU JUST GET OUT OF HERE" and when Mike decided not to shoot she told him "I hope you made the right choice" in a very serious tone. If I were Emily in that situation and someone had a gun to my head ready to kill me I would slap that person too, for almost killing me over something that actually ment nothing. People need to look at the bigger picture when Emily said "I'm the one who's scared". Just because Ash looks more scared doesn't mean that Em isn't, She's the one who fell down from a fire tower into a mineshaft, saw a human head, read about cannibalism (Hannah eating Beth's body), got chased by a monster and got bit. Bonus, a gun was pointed at her!

He already planned on leaving them, but with Ash freaking out like that he already took up the role of protecting everyone, if Ashley was right in her paranoia and anything happened to them he would blame himself.
People getting mad at Emily seem to forgot she desperately outran a Wendigo and got safely back to her friends, and a few minutes later Ashley pretty much tells her to kill herself by making her leave the safe room
looking back now, i realized me liking ashley was really stupid. emily is easily the best character in until dawn, if not sam. she had every right to be upset and slap ashley, not only with the reason that she almost had emily killed, but because of the fact that ashley was so goddamn annoying from the beginning.
Emily was one of the best characters as far as survival, but she was bitchy as hell in almost every scene. This is the only situation where her frustration and attitude is justified tbh. I don't think it is weird to like Ashley because she seems like the most realistic teenager in this situation.

She genuinely felt bad about it, hence the apology and the fact that she accepted the slap *without* retaliation. If she was trying to make herself look like the victim (like you think), she would have tried getting revenge on Emily afterward, but she doesn't. Even _after_ getting slapped, she continues to apologize and walks away instead of hitting her back or fighting. She owned up to her mistake like any decent person would. Upstairs the flamethrower guy literally moved them downstairs BECAUSE that’s such a bad idea. Most of the rooms are locked because of josh’s prank, so was she just supposed to wait right outside the safe room?!? that’s still worse than just being in a safe room. and she was trying to reassure Emily that she’d be okay she wasn’t trying to apologize. And it’s funny because she literally tries justifying it “I didn’t know what was going to happen! None of us did!” That’s called justifying her actions. She (and the players) only choose to tell the truth because they don’t know that Emily is going to get pissed about almost dying for nothing. Of course her honesty went up when she tells the truth, it’s the truth, and she spoke it, you can’t get more honest than that. However telling the truth then doesn’t mean a damn thing about her character when she’s lying about actually feeling bad about what happened to Beth and Hannah though, it says that she really doesn’t regret them going missing and never returning. Which says a lot about her. More than enough. She did apologize though, after she got slapped. Also even if the safe room isn’t entirely safe, there is such a thing as safety in numbers, you are statistically more likely to survive if you are all together.

I thought exactly the same...There is a whole book full of information about the Wendigos direct infront of them...and instead of keeping an eye on Emily and going through that information, they demand her to leave (and probably getting killed) or beeing shot. But well, maybe you can explain this with they all went trough horrible things and probably are traumatized by what`s happening around them. I don't know if I could be that rational in that situation. But if you´d like to see it this way, it would only be fair to understand that Emily was afraid, too. And she got kind of betrayed by some of her friends, endangering her live. I couldn't stand Emily, but I totally understood her reaction in this scene.
It was so satisfying seeing her get slapped. I stopped liking her after she kept crying all the time. I understand, she was scared, heck I would be scared too if I thought I was about to get killed. But she whines about everything. And not only that she told Chris to shoot her instead, I just did it because I was like *Hey she's risking herself for me*. But then later when you're playing as Chris again during that scary wendigo chase part, and then you tell her to open the door for you, but then she remembers the flashback of you supposedly shooting her instead and locks the door and leaves you to die outside after she TOLD you to shoot her. At the end of the day, what had cry baby Ashley ever done for anyone
I can understand from both sides of the parties but I think the main reason why a lot of reactors are siding more with Ashley than Emily is also because of how Emily is represented as a real "B" so they are less than likely to sympathize with her. Everyone is scared to death and quick to do whatever it takes to ensure survival despite the selfishness or irrational thought it takes. No one wants to be alone in situations like that and anyone would probably react the same way Emily would have if they were in her shoes after discovering the news.

Emily was in a tower that collapsed into a mine, fell again, lost Matt, found Beth's head, had a direct encounter and near death with the wendigo and STILL managed to get back to the lodge and tell everyone what's happened. My only gripe with Em is I don't like cheaters but hell, Matt over Mike?? Nah, Mike all the way, even tho he starts off abit of a b@stard, it's full redemption from here on out, even more so if he saves the dog.
Tbh I love Sam but not much people notice that she doesn't do anything to help her friends most of the time. She knew about the prank but never said anything to Hannah before anything happened. She tells Mike not to shoot but doesn't do anything to stop him. She tries to Justify Ashley's actions but doesn't stop her from getting slapped.

It's so funny to watch these people react like it's some high-school drama. If this was irl, there are great stakes, people's lives at risk. Emily is in the right to slap her because Ashley led someone to kill her out of pure assumptions. This moment instantly made Emily a much more complex character to me, one who is reasonably mean (plus her momentary hesitation after having slapped Ashley).
There is no sane way anyone would be so forgiving if their friend (Ashley) pushing ignorance (when the information was provided by the flamethrower and was in the book easily accessible) that would've motivated another friend (Mike) to send them to their deaths or kill them. And Ashley kept going at Emily instead of giving her space. It was more about how to make Ashley feel better than about Emily especially since there's the chance to conceal. Ashley can be a very sketchy, reckless, cruel and irresponsible 'friend' if the player chooses to. Ashley twice is in a position to sacrifice a friend over herself and three times to sacrifice someone in general. If you had to choose between Ashley or Emily as a survival partner it would be Emily every time because she may have an on/off attitude, which you can ignore more than whiny from Ashley, but she's resourceful, task focused, tries to be more composed even in the worse situations and will use her intelligence over falling apart at every daunting task.

I dont think she's a boring, you can make her a cold person at the end, where she caused death of her best friend(Chris) and 20 minutes later caused another death (Emily) + make her sole survivor, she probably gonna be crazy after all. Or you can make her a good person, just need to do good choices with her. I think the most boring character in a game it's Matt. He still say the same thing in interview, even if Matt abandoned both Emily and Jessica, and both of them could die in the mines.
The Wendigo bites are not infectious, Mike tried to shoot Emily with a gun, Ashley let Mike shoot Emily, Emily would be killed for no reason, I’m on Emily’s side. Ashley and Mike were the ones in the wrong of this situation.

Deciding to throw her out to her death or literally shoot her before reading the book they had the whole damn time just to make sure. @@lanarose1075 Here's why I think all their reactions make sense: Ashley came under attack the most in Josh's prank and even if it was just a prank, it must've still been pretty traumatizing and just when that was over and she thought she could catch a break, she finds out about the wendigo and can even watch it kill Chris so it makes sense for her not to be able to think straight. Emily's reaction made sense for reasons you already mentioned in your reply. Mike has already encountered the wendigo, and at this point, still believed Jess to be dead because of it and he doesn't want to risk that happening to any one of them again. Chris had just watched the wendigo slice the flamethrower guy's head right off and he just doesn't want to risk seeing that happen again. Even Sam's reaction makes sense too coz at this point in the game, she's been through the least and is the only one that hasn't seen the wendigo yet so of course she's the one with the most sanity left and can be reasonable.

Why do you think Emily would be facing "certain death" in different room similar to the one they are in? The flamethrower guy said to get down to the basement. There are plenty of other rooms in the basement, and if Emily did start transforming in a different room it would give the others time to escape. I mean, they have to do something if they believe Emily is a threat.

This scene is actually the one reason why I like Emily the slightest bit more than Ashley. Ashley's over-confidence in her own intellect almost costed an innocent person's life, that person being a bitch not withstanding. Another thing is that even though Ashley herself seems to find it a legit reason to shoot your friend to survive, she is willing to let Chris be mauled by Wendigo for doing the exact same thing to her. Ashley's a hypocrite.

Retorting to violence and slapping doesn't "make you a human". Giving in to stress and voice out your doubts like what Ashley did is what a normal person would do, Ashley could have just taken the gun from Mike and straight out shoot Emily, but she didn't, she was scared and paranoid, she doesn't want to die as much as anyone there felt. But slapping her even after she apologised and express remorse makes that person a BITCH. Like, it's not as if her claims were baseless, it's a situation where one mistake can lead to her loved one (Chris) and friends (Mike and Sam) DEAD too. And honestly, I don't like either of the characters so there's no bias here. I'm just saying this based on the situation. Did Emily deserved the doubts and accusation, maybe not, but did Ashley deserves the slap? It's even less justified than what Emily had.

Chris is exhausted, traumatized and injured. He had to 'kill' Josh (fake, sure but the image of the pig intestines falling all over is still burned into his brain) he had to shoot himself, he learned his best friend has been giving him ptsd all night as revenge for a prank he wasn't even part of. He's been awake how many hours(?) Running through the snow, he saw a man killed right in front of him, he was almost killed by Wendigos (which seems to be something he never even heard of before) and then he watched Mike almost shoot Emily. It's a small miracle he can even stand up.
Also the slap comes almost out of nowhere. Even Sam didn't expect it.

How was Ashley supposed to know his journal had information about the bites? It could have been a log of his daily activity for all she knew. Besides, she didn't want Emily killed. Ashley's relationship with Mike drops to zero if he killed Emily. Also Ashley is traumatized and emotionally unstable at this point in the game. I am sure she would love to control her emotions if she could.

emily is easily the best character in until dawn, if not sam. she had every right to be upset and slap ashley, not only with the reason that she almost had emily killed, but because of the fact that ashley was so goddamn annoying from the beginning.
Emily was one of the best characters as far as survival, but she was bitchy as hell in almost every scene. This is the only situation where her frustration and attitude is justified tbh. I don't think it is weird to like Ashley because she seems like the most realistic teenager in this situation.

She genuinely felt bad about it, hence the apology and the fact that she accepted the slap *without* retaliation. You cannot be serious. That is _literally_ what the "conceal" option is for - to hide the truth and avoid punishment. If she was trying to avoid punishment, she wouldn't have hid the truth. The idea that's she's not genuinely sorry is false. And she _didn't_ conspire to have Emily killed. She wanted her to leave the room. That is *not* the same as trying to have her shot by Mike. Having her go somewhere else would *not* have made her chances of surviving lower than anyone else's - the so-called "safe" room was not guaranteed to be "safe" anyways.

She (and the players) only choose to tell the truth because they don’t know that Emily is going to get pissed about almost dying for nothing.
Of course her honesty went up when she tells the truth, it’s the truth, and she spoke it, you can’t get more honest than that. However telling the truth then doesn’t mean a damn thing about her character when she’s lying about actually feeling bad about what happened to Beth and Hannah though, it says that she really doesn’t regret them going missing and never returning. Which says a lot about her. More than enough.
She did apologize though, after she got slapped.
Also even if the safe room isn’t entirely safe, there is such a thing as safety in numbers, you are statistically more likely to survive if you are all together.

I thought exactly the same...There is a whole book full of information about the Wendigos direct infront of them...and instead of keeping an eye on Emily and going through that information, they demand her to leave (and probably getting killed) or beeing shot.
But well, maybe you can explain this with they all went trough horrible things and probably are traumatized by what`s happening around them. I don't know if I could be that rational in that situation. But if you´d like to see it this way, it would only be fair to understand that Emily was afraid, too. And she got kind of betrayed by some of her friends, endangering her live. I couldn't stand Emily, but I totally understood her reaction in this scene.
It was so satisfying seeing her get slapped. I stopped liking her after she kept crying all the time. I understand, she was scared, heck I would be scared too if I thought I was about to get killed. But she whines about everything. And not only that she told Chris to shoot her instead, I just did it because I was like *Hey she's risking herself for me*. But then later when you're playing as Chris again during that scary wendigo chase part, and then you tell her to open the door for you, but then she remembers the flashback of you supposedly shooting her instead and locks the door and leaves you to die outside after she TOLD you to shoot her. At the end of the day, what had cry baby Ashley ever done for anyone
I can understand from both sides of the parties but I think the main reason why a lot of reactors are siding more with Ashley than Emily is also because of how Emily is represented as a real "B" so they are less than likely to sympathize with her. Everyone is scared to death and quick to do whatever it takes to ensure survival despite the selfishness or irrational thought it takes. No one wants to be alone in situations like that and anyone would probably react the same way Emily would have if they were in her shoes after discovering the news.

Chris says nothing, Sam turns her back, Mikes got the barrel up her nostril and Ash is egging him on. Tbh I love Sam but not much people notice that she doesn't do anything to help her friends most of the time. She knew about the prank but never said anything to Hannah before anything happened. She tells Mike not to shoot but doesn't do anything to stop him. She tries to Justify Ashley's actions but doesn't stop her from getting slapped.

If this was irl, there are great stakes, people's lives at risk. Emily is in the right to slap her because Ashley led someone to kill her out of pure assumptions.
This moment instantly made Emily a much more complex character to me, one who is reasonably mean (plus her momentary hesitation after having slapped Ashley).

There is no sane way anyone would be so forgiving if their friend (Ashley) pushing ignorance (when the information was provided by the flamethrower and was in the book easily accessible) that would've motivated another friend (Mike) to send them to their deaths or kill them. And Ashley kept going at Emily instead of giving her space. It was more about how to make Ashley feel better than about Emily especially since there's the chance to conceal. Ashley can be a very sketchy, reckless, cruel and irresponsible 'friend' if the player chooses to. Ashley twice is in a position to sacrifice a friend over herself and three times to sacrifice someone in general. If you had to choose between Ashley or Emily as a survival partner it would be Emily every time because she may have an on/off attitude, which you can ignore more than whiny from Ashley, but she's resourceful, task focused, tries to be more composed even in the worse situations and will use her intelligence over falling apart at every daunting task.
The slap was definitely was valid, but I’m ngl her saying sorry like that had me feelin for them both

It’s funny how people are saying it’s unreasonable but slapping Ashley was a 100% normal reaction that anyone would have if they were almost shot because of Ashley freaking out at them like that and she pushed REALLY hard for Em to get shot so I would’ve felt the exact same. Honestly, I loved Ashley on my first play through but after a while I realized she was a bit of a manipulator honestly

I dont think she's a boring, you can make her a cold person at the end, where she caused death of her best friend(Chris) and 20 minutes later caused another death (Emily) + make her sole survivor, she probably gonna be crazy after all.
Or you can make her a good person, just need to do good choices with her.
I think the most boring character in a game it's Matt. He still say the same thing in interview, even if Matt abandoned both Emily and Jessica, and both of them could die in the mines.

I had mixed feelings about all of the characters. I think I only liked Sam and that was it . But that was a satisfying slap 😂

For me both Ashley and Emily reactions are based.
Emily had every right to be pissed. Her life was threatened by her FRIENDS. Not a monster, she was literally almost killed (and can be killed in that situation) by her own friends. She had a gun pointed in her face because they wanted to jump to conclusions despite A. Being told by the flamethrower guy that you turn into a wendigo by canabalism in the mountains and B. Deciding to throw her out to her death or literally shoot her before reading the book they had the whole damn time just to make sure. She is not being unreasonable for being angry that they almost TOOK HER LIFE by jumping to conclusions.

@@lanarose1075 Here's why I think all their reactions make sense:
Ashley came under attack the most in Josh's prank and even if it was just a prank, it must've still been pretty traumatizing and just when that was over and she thought she could catch a break, she finds out about the wendigo and can even watch it kill Chris so it makes sense for her not to be able to think straight.
Emily's reaction made sense for reasons you already mentioned in your reply.
Mike has already encountered the wendigo, and at this point, still believed Jess to be dead because of it and he doesn't want to risk that happening to any one of them again.
Chris had just watched the wendigo slice the flamethrower guy's head right off and he just doesn't want to risk seeing that happen again.
Even Sam's reaction makes sense too coz at this point in the game, she's been through the least and is the only one that hasn't seen the wendigo yet so of course she's the one with the most sanity left and can be reasonable.
