I somehow already knew you were joking at the beginning and it was definitely going to be VS. Nigel.... theres no way he wouldn't be involved in a "game of the gods"
Love when the tiles line up just right for a game like this. Bingos with J, Q, Z, and a blank J, all in one game - that's just special. Although now I wonder if anyone's ever managed bingoing with all 4 power tiles in one game...
Another great video! One thing I really like is when you dig deeper into the stats at the end, and tell us not only that an 18-turn game is impressive, but that there have only been X number of recorded games in history under 20 turns, etc.
I think it's closing on poetry that, everything else being equal, had Nigel scored one more bingo to tie Mark's five, their point difference would have been 1.
This game has a complete rack for both sides, unlike their game game posted in cross-tables. Another phenomenal game with a total of nine bingoes from the Scrabble greats!
I saw a comment of yours on an old video where you said some simulation was done that found the Q would need to be worth 16 points in order to be considered neutral. I think that is extremely interesting and I feel going over that study in a video would be super cool. One question I have about this is should scrabble get an update? It sounds crazy but you’ve said before that only 50% of games give both players a chance to win and that just seems crazy low to me. I feel like we should welcome rebalances that would get that fair game percentage as high as possible. If adjusting the tile distribution or point values makes the game less dependent on luck, why shouldn’t we consider it? Maybe bingos should be worth less or maybe you get one free exchange per game if you have all vowels or consonants. Has scrabble ever had an update besides the dictionary in its 50+ year life? Anyway it’s something to think about and I think it would make a great video. I love your game breakdowns but they’re starting to blend together a little bit and I think a video about a topic like this would be a great change of pace

WOVE vs WOVEN - is it possible Nigel chose WOVE, at least in part, so as not to dangle the WOVEN(S) hook in a triple lane, since he’s not holding the -S?
Please put up the definitions for more or even all words and let it linger on the screen longer so we don't have to pause as much, just a suggestion thanks.
"everyone's favorite cry of Bacchic frenzy" lmaooo
Had me lol-ing even on this cranky no-sleep morning.
@@quinnculversame
A rather obvious choice but I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to cries of Bacchic frenzy.
I prefer EVOE# myself ;)
That play was bacchic crazy
That final play of (J)ANIZARS let the world at large know what a force Nigel was going to be.
I somehow already knew you were joking at the beginning and it was definitely going to be VS. Nigel.... theres no way he wouldn't be involved in a "game of the gods"
Good instincts :)
The games are obviously fantastic but I'm also a fan of Will's narration. Super informative, engaging, and often funny. Thanks!

[Spoiler Warning]
Was still expecting Nigel to find a way to win until the last tile was played :)
A spoiler warning would be nice. On mobile the top comment shows automatically and it's your one at the moment.
@@mnm1273 I'm so sorry, I had no idea mine was gonna be on top m(_ _)m
ty for the warning
Thanks for adding the spoiler warning.
@@mnm1273 Thank you for pointing it out. I wrote an apology as well earlier, but I can't find that comment, so sorry again m(_ _)m
Will Anderson, the Agadmator of scrabble
literally 💀

Didn't even notice that. Nice!

I still find the Cappelletto - Edley battle more enticing, but holy hell this is top 10. Great choice, Sir Anderson! 🤟
You have a link to that by chance?

mark nyman mentioned now I can die happy
ok now PLEASE make a video on mark's 193 point comeback in the 1993 world championship
This one's on the to-do list for sure (actually his full history with Joel Wapnick is amazing)
thank you will! another excellent entry - I particularly enjoyed the humor in this one. :)
I actually saw some of the bingos in this video. Im learning through osmosis. Thanks for another great video!
Good eye!
Amazing game! Eagerly waiting for the next videos on Mark vs Nigel.
Congrats on your hundredth video! Love them a lot.

I think a very thorough video about tile values and how we might change them could be a banger... I'll add it to my list!
This is the first time I've ever seen Nigel Richards lose a game
Scripting was great on this video, Will. Appreciate your content. Keep up the good work!
i love these videos. so awesome to have such a world class player break down games like this.
Timelessness of this game is incredible
Incredible game. Keep these brilliant videos coming.

"sorry mum, I've got to see this video of two people with incredible racks on the internet first"
Excellent video again. Great work
Haymaker after haymaker - astonishing
okay I'm proud of finding Jingoes even though I didn't know Sny and couldn't play it.
Would never have considered fatwa could be a verb though
Agreed that caught me off guard too!
Will, what does Nigel Keep in his fanny pack? Is that where he stores his power?
WOVE vs WOVEN - is it possible Nigel chose WOVE, at least in part, so as not to dangle the WOVEN(S) hook in a triple lane, since he’s not holding the -S?
1:45 nice
where is the chart at 6:54 from?
scrabbleplayers.org/w/Records
Many records available here!
Still waiting for the longest words played, highest scoring plays, and highest scoring words
Only 2/8 triple word scores were used, that’s rare
plz make another vid on these 2!!
Man has a good picture of Nigel and no one else
Please put up the definitions for more or even all words and let it linger on the screen longer so we don't have to pause as much, just a suggestion thanks.
Janizar is such a cool word
do you have a video on how to study words? i.e. what are those modern tools you mentioned?
I have a very old one here that should still be close to what you're after:

was EXO invalid?
was DAIKO or GI invalid?
Yes, these words were not in the SOWPODS dictionary used at that time
So early 😦 can’t wait to watch
How is 'ew' not a word but 'euoi' somehow is
Oh, like you haven't cried it out when in a Bacchic frenzy
@@qqw743 hahahaha
Ew is a word now, just not when this game was played
Ye is King
Geez.
Euoi!
Not going to lie when I heard "he got I G to pair with his N" I was thinking something completely different
That play is probably reserved for Japanese tournaments ⚠
do people actually make a living of scrabble competition? lol
Will you kinda are the Roger Federer of Chess
I thought it was pronounced yay
K well you're just making up words at this point

The world dictionary is annoying. So many words that dont even look like words and wayyyyy too many bingos. Gross
