I love tinkering on that type of stuff. If I was faster at it - I could probably get paid for my work. Last season I had the stainless rub rail off & was able to remove a couple good doinks the previous owner left in the rail for me. I was able to hammer & dolly the trim true - then buff & polish the rail in those spots. 100% fix. Fun repair - in hindsight.
I'm hoping to have time (before next season's launch) to clean up all of the stainless rubrail, as it has seen a bit of dock rash that doesn't look very good. Farther along on the port side, towards the bow, there's some seriously imbedded rust that I want to eliminate. It does flake off, but will need removing and sanding/polishing like you did. But that's for next year, as Boogaboo is floating now, so no chance for this season. BTW, my awesome Launch video comes 9ut on Sunday!! 👍🤗😁👌🍺🍺🍺 And funny you mention doing this type of work for pay; how many times have I asked myself that same question over the years 😉

Our boat doesn't have a macerator pump, as discharging black water overboard is illegal in our area - something I would never do that even if it were legal.
Fine job there. I had similar gunk build up under the rub rail on my 1986 Catalina. No leaks inside, so I just power sprayed it with a hose, evicting a few spiders along the way. 😆 Hope that Corina was refreshing. 🍻
As a general contractor, I've often used a deck screw to dig out dirt from screws - a truck I employed on this job, but never made it to the video. Another hunt is to use a good screwdriver bit, as once they start to round over, they'll just make life difficult on the subsequent screws. Best to toss those screws and replace with new (if not too late in the job timeline).
I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, but I've used Sikaflex exclusively on all these types of projects over the past 20+ years and it hasn't failed me yet 👍

In actual fact, I only removed the rub rail across the transom and probably 2/3 of the way up the port side of the hull, so I'd say roughly 40% of the entire rub rail. The port hind quarter was the only area that I had seen water coming in (a couple of screws that protruded through), so that's all I needed to do - especially considering that the boat was being launched early the next day ( th-cam.com/video/sCawqAJZFfY/w-d-xo.html ). In all, and given that the Sikaflex was only required on the screw heads, I might have used maybe 1/3 of a tube for this job. So far, all good :-)
I was impressed with the condition of your hull to deck joint - it certainly looks as if it was done right at the factory. Some boats are produced with huge gaps in the joint that cause the caulk to repeatedly separate and fail. Your SR is a 98' and mine's an 01' so I'm hoping mine was done with the same care and attention to detail as yours. This is why we keep coming back to SR boats, right? Just finished installing my 2 SIMRAD chart plotters last week (12" and 7") and of course we're having thunderstorms roll through FL all weekend. Will feel much better once I can power them up on the water and confirm my 2 transducers are working properly - SMIRAD forward scan for "reef avoidance" and an Airmar B164. Next project will be antenna installations on the arch - 20+ Halo radar, 3 GPS, 1 AIS VHF, 1 VHF and 1 Glomex for digital TV (not on the boat to watch TV but handy for news). Looking forward to seeing your launch - good luck and have fun!

Replaced the refrigerator on my Silverton yesterday. Stripped about 10 screws from the mount brackets. Guess I should have cleaned the heads better.
