    You guys are such pessimists, ogre warmaul has 50% chance to attack wrong target, but look at it from other perspective, it has 50% chance to hit right target
    Keepo
    Also you can combo Hemet with Tinkmaster overspark, so you kill your own minions for more value

      Here's how I use Ogre Warmail: Dreaded Corsair and Ogre. Occasionally I end up with Ogre plus two free Dreaded Corsair on the board. It's not bad, it's just random and you only really need one in your deck if you feel like using it. Its probability can be controlled to an extent.

    I think a fair buff to Hemet would be to change the text to:
    Batlecry: Destroy a beast. If you don't destroy a beast, gain +2 Health.
    It makes it a viable card with good stats even if you don't destroy a beast, and it doesn't get op with 6/5 stats and you kill a beast.
    If you don't kill a beast, it has the same stats as Stallag or Feugen, not counting their deathrattles of course.

    I dont believe there should be bad cards in the game. If all the cards were to be good people had more choices of making different exciting decks since they can only pick 30 cards. i really think blizzard should buff cards like nozdormu and hemet so that they are at least usable. Why don't they do that? If nozdormu for example is as good as ysera then players have to make decision to chose only one of them right? as it is, these cards just suck and they are just fillers, it should not be this way.

      The reason is so people can have the option to make fun decks. Some cards many used to consider bad such as flare are now used in constructed hunters same with antique healbot it's used in priest the point is to make the game enjoyable compared to just having all good cards with very little variety

    IMO, Cobra Shot is probably worse than most of these cards. I just don't understand what blizzard was thinking when they made it. It's a dark bomb, but it costs 3 mana more just to deal 3 damage to the enemy hero, that's INSANE! It probably wouldn't even see play if it would cost 3 mana lol

    I can see what you're saying about Hemet, but think of this. This card most of the time trades with highmane, the best hunter card. Kill 6/5 and then both 2/2s trade into it. Sure thats a best case scenario. If this was a 6/5 it would see play.

    I tried to make Shadowbomber work in a burst priest deck, together with Leper Gnome, Mind Blast, some rushy mechs and Auchenai+Zombie Chow. Didn't work out often, but when it did, it was fun^^.

  • @xEddyTheGr8x
    @xEddyTheGr8x 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    As it turned out, Shadowbomber is pretty great in my Aggro Priest. Play him early to rush your enemy down or play him late for burst damage to finish him off. SB + double Mindblast = 12 Damage to face for 5 Mana.

  • @AlexeyFilippenkoPlummet
    @AlexeyFilippenkoPlummet 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hemet Nesingwary can be useful in a hunter heavy meta. Basically it snipes Highmanes which are often played on turn 5/6 by hunter. So it might be worth keeping for scenario when the whole ladder goes hunter mode. The worst case scenario for it (aside from AoE which are always bad) will usually be exchanging this creature for a 2 mana card, which basically puts you 3 mana back tempo-wise. You can live through that. But killing Savannah Highmane/Gahz'rilla/The Beast/King Krush/Core Hound for 5 mana AND having a 6/3 residue is a good deal (and hunter gets these cards often from webspinners).

  • @SeregPie
    @SeregPie 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hemet Nesingwary was the first and only legendary I got from opening GvG packs. And he was inside the 3 free packs.

  • @Kowzorz

    I find usage of Shadowbomber in a priest heal deck. It lets me get early Light of Naaru out and gives me a target to heal for my early Lightwardens. The extra reach of 6 damage that also puts a minion on the field is useful too.

  • @Kippydahcamper
    @Kippydahcamper 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember them talking about some internal GVG testing and they said some Beast themed deck was really OP. Although if they were talking about some crappy Druid of the Fang combo deck or maybe control hunter I've yet to see either of those deck types do anything but fail on the ladder. Could explain why Hemet is so overcosted.

  • @TheAmberFang
    @TheAmberFang 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hemet is also okay to have against Druid, since Druid of the Claw transforms into Beasts now. Granted, that still makes him bad against 7 classes, excluding stray Stranglethorn Tigers and Stampeding Kodos. But I suppose more classes might be getting random beast synergy in the future to make him somewhat viable. GvG already released random Murloc synergy for Shaman that I don't think too many people would have expected, so maybe we'll see some beast synergy with Warrior, Priest, or Mage or something.

  • @CosmosCopilot
    @CosmosCopilot 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You know, thinking about it, Hemet Nesingwary might be trying to tell us something. I know at least in Magic, and other card games might do this as well, they'll usually put something in sets to hint at what the next set will be about. So one set they'll throw in a couple of cards with enchantment synergy, but then not that many enchantments, but then the next set will be filled to the brim with enchantments. They could be telling us that the next set might be themed around beasts, and that we'll be seeing a lot more beasts coming in the future, so that Hemet might actually be useful.

    • @J1ffyLub3
      @J1ffyLub3 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      i see you're point, but hearthstone isn't like many other card games, nor should it be. it doesn't even have that many cards when you think about it (especially in terms of what's in the meta). there we're no hints to upcoming naxx or GvG cards, so why would they start doing stuff like that now? there are really only a few cards outside of each expansion that synergized extremely well with the new cards.
      making a shit card now in preparation for this new meta trend is just ridiculous. Hearthstone doesn't have enough cards to pull this kind of stunt off, and even if the meta did shift gears the card would simply get nerfed like everything else (im talking about unleash the hounds, leeroy, starving buzzard, soulfire, etc)

    • @CosmosCopilot
      @CosmosCopilot 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well Hearthstone is still a very young game, so anything is possible, really

    • @J1ffyLub3
      @J1ffyLub3 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** it is, which is why it has only so few cards. so one of my points is every card kind of has to count as of right now because there are only so few. blizzard could pull off stunts like this when there is a sizeable enough card base where one expansion doesn't disrupt the entire meta.
      you mentioned magic, magic does indeed foreshadow upcoming sets with their cards, but the meta in magic (magic doesn't really have that strict of a meta anyways) doesn't shatter after another set comes out. i'm excluding the standard format because that restricts card use, and there is no form of restriction in hearthstone yet besides class cards

    • @__-be1gk
      @__-be1gk 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hemet was put in because beasts were supposed to be made more powerful with this expansion and everyone is bitching about Hunters all the time. He's bad because he was executed poorly, either in favour of flavour or because the devs are just bad at making card games. It's that simple.

  • @MaDrung
    @MaDrung 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use shadowbomber for a deck with higher mana requirements. It's good to be able to do damage from start, and the next turn be able to heal yourself if you have no other 2 mana cards in hand. I find it usefull many times. I've also been able to win using this card directly to face.

  • @TheBigHunger70
    @TheBigHunger70 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

  • @Lizard008
    @Lizard008 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Agree on most of it. Ogre Warmaul,however...I think has some possibilities:
    - When there's only one target to hit (hero)
    - You decide when to attack with it, so... you can attack with minions first to make sure your attack comes out good or ideal instead of *_urk-plsOMGkillme!_*
    Other notes:
    - I don't think it'd ever be viable to run 2 in a deck
    - it's absolutely true that it's a horrible turn 3-play
    - it's 8 dmg for 3 mana. If you're controlling the board, that's a lot of dmg for little mana on one card. Of course... having conditional cards isn't ideal.

  • @learnicolas6481
    @learnicolas6481 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've use the Ogre Warmaul in a Weaponwarrior Deck and it's a decent weapon. If the board is clear, it's four damage to the face and since that count's as a turn on which the Warmaul did not hit the wrong target you can be somewhat sure it won't hit the right target next turn and act accordingly.
    It's certainly not an extremely reliable and god weapon but it is fun and has it's moments.

    Flying Machine + Cold Blood deserved some kind of a mention, I think, it's a far more practical combo for a 5/4 with Windfury for 4 mana... sounds far better than target dummy and even all the other cards, combined.

    Kripp, have you considered the use of flying machine in a hobgoblin deck, i got destroyed by this car din ladder i dunno just something to consider.

  • @mickey6739
    @mickey6739 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, what? ....Warmaul is one of the main advantage cards in my warrior deck. At least half the time I play second on that deck, I use a coin on turn 2, use the weapon, and slap on the 3/3 pirate taunt. This weapon synergizes incredibly well with pirates and even when it comes to hitting things, it tends to let me hit what I wanted it to.
    And the shadowbomber is actually a 1 mana drop on purpose. How many times did it happen that on turn 2 you got nothing to play AND nothing to heal with hero ability, hm? That minion gives you advantage because the 3 damage you take is less significant from the 3 damage other classes take maybe with exception of high-healing paladin or druid decks.

  • @a_Lemming
    @a_Lemming 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Although there are a few uses for it (Über control, maybe, dunemaul shaman is really hard to use if your opponent has even a single minion on the board. Maybe if it had one more health and one less attack...)

  • @gallaros9
    @gallaros9 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Hemet would be far more viable and interesting if it was more related with his "hunting" quests. Lets say it still only removes beasts, but in return, it gives you a weapon. For casual scrub beasts, you get the Nessingway Elek gun, but for a legendary beast, you get the Nessingway 4000. Stats of those weapons could be made to ballance, and since nessingway effectively gives you removal and weapon, they can keep/nerf its stats if they wanna.

  • @RePaperBag
    @RePaperBag 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ogre Warmaul and Shadowbomber are FAAAAAR from being the worst GvG card. Have you ever seen a cobra shot in constructed maybe :P? There are many other cards which sucks. But I totally agree with the rest of the list though. Great vid Kripp Hipp

  • @firelizard96
    @firelizard96 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 1/4 minion Flying Machine + Divine Blessing and Inner Fire is probably the only creature that can deal 16dmg with that combo (if it doesn't get killed or silenced). But I agree that it's still quite bad on it's own.
    I'm pretty sure the idea behind the priests Shadow bomber is your ability to restore that health.
    I haven't really tried Target Dummy but I do feel like it can be decent and quite helpful in a few situations.
    Either than that, I agree.
    P.S: Gnomish experimenter is really bad (unless your deck is spell oriented) especially in arena where you're way more likely to pick the most valuable minions.

    easy fix for Hemet: Battlecry: Destroy a CREATURE. Makes him the bigger brother of Big Game Hunter that way and a legendary that specialises in killing other legendaries. And it would already have countering cards, mostly Deathrattles with some really negative stuff you dont want to launch. And like Big Game Hunter, he would die superfast after his battlecry anyway.

  • @rickygore4956
    @rickygore4956 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if instead of the battlecry, Hemet Nesingwary was invincible while attacking? The whole "Lone-Range" mechanic would make sense. As well, it still dies to 3 damage even it's first attack (a la Darkbomb) so cards like Sludge Belcher still compete for the 5 slot. With something like Dr. Boom romping around, that won't be too overpowered.

  • @Toptengamer

    They should change the battlycry on Hemet to "Kill a Dragon". Still not great, but at least it would have some niche application where it can actually be useful, like when there are a lot of decks with Ysera or Alex.

  • @storotso
    @storotso 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason why cards like hemmet nesingwary exists is because all the cards in HS are based of things in the warcraft universe, with the legendaries being specific known characters. They want the cards to match their warcraft equivalents, and so they make cards that have really wierd effects

    • @kelp017
      @kelp017 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mustard0981 Milhouse isn't as bad as you think. If you can catch your opponent without any spells when you play that card (for example the opponent has only 3 cards left) you can get massive value out of it, plus with the extra 8 mana you can buff it up so it can survive damage spells.
      Playing it on turn 2 would force your opponent to waste at least 2 spells (most of the time and IF they have them in their hand) to kill millhouse and this is not really a wasted turn since your opponent had to waste his turn killing Millhouse. This makes it safer for you to play a big creature like a Yeti without any spells in its way. If Millhouse doesn't get removed, then there will be a massive tempo swing since they can't really play any minions otherwise it would be a 2 for 1 and it secures the early game for you. The bad situation to play this would be against a freeze mage or a Druid where they have powerful spells with massive value like Starfire and in the end-phase of a control game.
      In conclusion, Millhouse is meant to be used for drawing out removal or gain tempo.
      Disenchant Nesingwary though.

    Flying machine is at least a decent card. It's a potential match winner with rogue's Iron Sensei and/or Cold Blood. Or anything that boosts its attack.People will tend ignore it when it's played if you have just about anything else on the board and then you can strike REALLY hard with it.

    I've been playing a Mech Warrior Hobgobliny deck. it's by no means the best deck, but I've gotten to rank 5 with it, and it very much feels that it could do better than that. Flying Machine is one of the best cards in that deck :) .

  • @BelligerentWombat
    @BelligerentWombat 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you tried flying machine in a spare parts deck? If you add alchemist to that deck too he transforms into an 8 damage minion with the stat swap (or more if you get +1 attack spare parts) or 4 to the face and clear a 4 minion. He's way better than that crappy 1-4 gargoyle and is a windfury minion that stands a chance of living through summoning sickness. I think he's actually okay. As a pure non-combo drop he works out okay vs Paladins.

  • @aickavon
    @aickavon 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    way to balance hemet. give him 2 health. Or better yet, if he kills a beast, give him +2/+2 which would make him a 5 drop that could theoritically become a 8/5 plus a destroyed beast. He would still be balanced enough in the fact that he wouldn't be good against anyone other than hunters and druids, so he wouldn't be overplayed, but at least he'd have a competeing chance against some other 5 drops.

    • @TheSquareOnes
      @TheSquareOnes 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is very true, especially now that Druid of the Claw is a beast in both forms. Hemet is likely to have a target against both druids and hunters, if we ever see a metagame environment where those are the two most frequently seen classes (not out of the question since both have had wildly popular netdecks multiple times in the first year) he could immediately jump from weak to being nearly an auto-include.
      I just wish they would have pushed his stats a little more. A 5/3 for 4 would probably be fair and would do a lot to make it less of a risky inclusion in decks since it would be easier to find a time to play him against decks without beasts. It still dies to almost everything other than 1-drops and 5 attack is already available in the 4-drop slot on better bodies. Maybe in the next round of card changes they will do something to make him just a tad more attractive.

    • @TheSquareOnes
      @TheSquareOnes 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      logan mcvey
      You can make decks without spells pretty easily now and there have always been decks with very, very few spells. Minion-heavy decks will only become more common as the card pool grows each year, in addition to more and more competition for 5-drop slots showing up. Even now I don't usually include Loatheb and only rarely find the battlecry to be a serious issue when others play it, a stealth tiger is often far more threatening. We'll probably see a lot less of Loatheb in time. He isn't a bad card by any stretch of the imagination but he's nowhere near as good as his popularity would make it seem either.

    I think the one and only way to make Hemmit in any way viable, is to make all the dragon/drake cards beasts. Yep, Ysera, Alexstrasza, Nozdormu, Malygos, Deathwing, Twilight Drake, and some others would be marked as beasts. If, and only if, this happens, then, Hemet will be a not too shabby card, especially against control warrior, where the majority runs both Ysera AND Alexstrasza. I think this wouldn't be a nerf specifically, because you can have beast synergy. Eh, just my thought on how to make a shit card, a little better.

  • @slenderman1858
    @slenderman1858 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hemet was CLEARLY made to counter face hunter. Even against other classes, it could be useful. Druids have the Druid of the Claw/Fang which would be good targets. Against ANY mech deck the shredders could pop out a beast as a target. Mages could Unstable Portal into King Krush, Ghaz'Rilla, or The Beast. Some people might just run some beasts because they are a F2P new player and they don't have many other options. At its worst Hemet baits out some kind of removal or gets rid of that crappy minion you didn't want to waste your bigger removal on. He's not totally worthless. Almost forgot to mention Malorne. He's a beast. Also a god sure, but he is a beast.

  • @INeed333Quid

    GvG completely killed beast synergy hunter, I used it pretty much every season since like January, a like beast control hunter, highest i got was 58 legend in EU on the last day of the month. Beasts are just so terrible now when you compare them to their equivalent drop, even Savannah Highmane doesn't have significant advantage anymore now that Piloted Sky Golem exists which anybody can use. Seriously I knew beasts were gonna be terrible once I saw the cards for GvG, but I tried out my deck the other day which has hit legend multiple times, swapped my Oasis Snapjaw for Chillbeast Yeti (can't remember it's name), which was like the only good swap I could find for my deck, and then managed to squeeze Gahzrilla into my deck too. The deck totally totally sucks now, I was winning like 45%, the ones i was winning i was just basically outskilling them or getting lucky haha. Its like, you play Dire Wolf Alpha, they play a good 2 drop, you play Animal Companion, you get the fucking pig, they clear your board. You have nothing to buff with Houndmaster and play it anyway cause Hunter dies without board, they play Piloted Shredder. You could get choose which card you wanted to draw from your deck every single turn and still lose to a decent player. Beast Hunter is so so dead.
    So yeah, Hemit Nessingwary being the worst card, I've gotta agree there. I can't see it ever receiving play from competent players, unless maybe Druid became extremely dominant, and nobody could beat them, people would maybe start using it for Druid of the Claw? I doubt it haha.

    I was testing a deck that used Divine Spirit, Inner Fire and Maexxna. It seemed everyone would ignore her, even after a Divine Spirit, and I would essentially kill big targets for free. Faced off against a Handlock, and manage to win by killing all of his giants with her while keeping her alive.

  • @lkjkhfggd
    @lkjkhfggd 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ogre Warmaul is okay. 50/50 to miss means that on average it will hit what you want once and then miss once, probably equating to a one for one trade. Though sometimes it hits face twice and you just lose a card and the opportunity to kill something with a weapon for two turns, and when that happens, you probably lose the game unless you can rush the opponent down. As far as arena is concerned, I hate this card tremendously, but I will easily take it over some other terrible common cards in the game (like Flying Machine or Stoneskin Gargoyle). Because on average I expect to hit what I want once, it should still be useful, unlike some cards that can never hope to get value. And hey, sometimes your arena draft isn't blessed with enough Fiery War Ax or Death's Bite and you take this because it's a weapon. As bad as Ogre Warmaul is, I don't think it's in the top five worst cards, and I would easily replace it in this list with Cobra Shot.

    • @TheSquareOnes
      @TheSquareOnes 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eh, if it were for almost any other class you might have a point but when you can run Death's Bite for just 1 more mana it's hard to see why anyone would really want the warmaul outside of novelty (or perhaps ambitious dreams of slaying a stealth auctioneer, assuming they ever see one of those again). Yes, in arena it might be better than some other bad picks but only by virtue of it being two removal opportunities and not because it serves that function well.
      You're right about Cobra Shot though, no idea what they were thinking with that one. Not that hunter needs efficient damage+removal cards right now but at 5 mana it's pretty close to unplayably bad. Too slow for both aggro and control and without enough impact relative to other cards that could fill that slot.
