is this device possible to flash with esphome or other software or must cadio be used please advise thank you
Awesome project! Just some constructive criticism, the stereo mic is a little distracting when wearing headphones. Maybe consider downmixing the stereo recording to mono. Maybe it's not that bothersome to anyone else though 🤷🏻♀

Hi i used the same things as you and i flashed the latest ccadio firmware. I am using gpio 14 for ir , 13 for receiver and 12 for button but when i try to configure remote func then it automatically shows that remote sensed so the button changes to green and the ir doesnt light up help

Ir transmitter is working but didn’t work properly like if i press on button in app it gives beep sound in my ac but id didn’t operate i have new inverter ac maybe that’s why it’s not working

How difficult would it be to add a temperature sensor to this so the a/c could be set to turn on to chill out heat at different trigger room temperatures and to v turn off when the target temperature is reached?
It's not very difficult to do so. Interfacing a temperature sensor with this should be simple. However, don't ACs already do this?

So why not make the pcb modified to build around the other esp board instead of retro fitting it?

Esp01 is programmable but we haven’t tested it with ESPHOME so not sure about it

Very well done, but for such a tinker project the most important part is missing, the reason why a person would go through all this hoops and loops to make settings on the a/c through another device than the normal IR remote. iTS ABOUT MAKING THE A/C SMART: I do not understand why all you super smart programmers forget about this important reason. We need to be able to connect a light sensor, a temp sensor a humidity sensor at the minimum. Than need to be told the name of the variables, so we can set them via a script. like f.e. : if light on, and temperature is above 26 switch on a/c. If it is getting warmer increase fan speed. if temp is under 20 switch on heater. and so on. That would make such a esp project interesting.
great . i made ir using nodemcu board. it worked well. its a pity that it use some comercial software. i will look for an opensource option instead. but the video is very good.

I find it annoying for such in house applications having an AP for each project instead of STA and configure the (static) IP or mDNS name from the app's settings.

Have you guys tested it with set top box remotes? Those are notorious for using very different protocols and finding a compatible IR receiver is way hard. I made a similar project few months ago. So comenting from that experience
What is the issue you have with it
