A few questions and answers

  • A long boring video with bad sound where I answer a few questions that have been asked of me over the last year or so. I forget to answer a couple of the questions, partially answer others and completely ignore the most frequent one.
    Why, just why? people ask, Where do I come from? How did I get here? Where am I going? How do I know Lord Muck? Does anybody actually care?
    Well clearly some people do or this video wouldn't exist.

    The only reason I'd unsubscribe to a channel is that the content gets samey and predictable or the person gets big headed, yours is quite laid back, easy watching and interesting.

    I have made videos and taught full time [ now part time online] Since the 1982. I understand the large amount of time and effort it takes to explain the inner workings of equipment, with a camera pointing at you, editing, redoing, uploading. I am sure it is easier to keep the camera in its case, than bring out. Great you make the effort and I enjoy watching and learning from your skill set.

    Haven't got a clue why people flit in and out of your videos they are always good and you always learn something. I assume that the tool bag was preprepared as I would never find all the ring spanners together and the tool I want is always at the bottom. Also enjoy a vintage Thursday with Cow Framer Dan, nice to see the spanner work and also good to see some of his vintage kit earning its keep.

    As for the tools I have lots of draper and other cheaper stuff and I've not got too much trouble fixing things, and I'm really only a stockman, no proper spanner training but I do enjoy fixing things and of course I'm a bit of a MF obsessive

    Good explanation about tools needed. Far too many younger people get roped into buying far more than they need. I am guilty of that myself. A lot in my boxes I have never needed. I don't have a clue why people don't subscribe because it costs nothing. I sometimes can't get through a full video at once so I pause & get back to it. Thanks for sharing

      I have no problem with Snap-On tools themselves, they are a good quality professional tool and I have at least my fair share, what I don't like is the way they draw in young people and keep them locked in for life with extended credit. I also don't like the way people who have them often try to make out that if you don't have the right brand of tool, you can't be a good mechanic. It's about state of mind and attitude, not what tools you have.
      Thanks for watching.

    Unfortunately the people who were here at the end to hear your question about unsubscribing in the first 30 seconds are those of us who don’t indulge in such disrespectful behaviour!
    This was an interesting video, I must admit I was surprised how few tools you need to do such major overhauls on an old Massey - but I guess what really matters is the skills and knowledge of the spanner-wielder and not how fancy his tools are!

    • @ClarenceFudWeasel

    The one thing that stands out in tools today are the socket sets.
    Years ago, when you bought a set it was always 12 point sockets, such as yours. I had a stubborn nut, I was trying to get off the other day, and needed a 12 point socket, (thin wall) and could not find one. Try to find a 12 point socket set now a days, like trying to buy a dinosaur as a pet. I am sure there are some available, somewhere, but try to find one.

    Always look forward to any Fud Weasel notification 🔔 definitely no unsubscribing going on here and will still be here to the bitter end and always give the thumbs up 👍. Let’s have more questions and answers sessions maybe they make interesting content we can all learn from. More good content here on subject of tools because you really don’t need a massive collection of designer Snap on stuff to crack on with a job Facom is indeed a personal favourite of mine especially when it comes to sockets highly rated well above Snapon as they are nothing like as brittle and don’t seem to give out when the going gets tough. Screwdrivers equally as good also and satin chrome finish with lots of lettering forged in makes them easier to keep hold of unlike Snapon which I can only describe as like handling wet fish oops dropped it again into the belly plates😮

    • @ClarenceFudWeasel
      @ClarenceFudWeasel  ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for all the info. Did you ever finish the video series for the MF135 or the Hydrqaulic Horrors 100 series Hydraulics? I would like to see the final put together and adjustment of the Draft and Position Linkage. I am taking my 1973 MF135 apart since I can't find a good mechanic to do it. I have an independent PTO and the clutch pack is engaging suddenly, not slowly. Also, my hydraulic lift is not controllable. I have a manual, but your videos take the fear out of doing it. Thanks again.

    I started spannering in 1974 and was told by an engineer who was teaching me to buy Elora combination spanners. I bought a set of AF and later on a set of metrics. Always felt they were more comfortable to use than Snap On or other makes. I think Elora quality dropped a bit later on, but still have most of the original ones I bought. Only thing missing from your socket set was the 2ft bit of pipe to go over the end of the T bar.
    Dont really understand why people unsubscribe from you, its certainly not me. Cant beat looking into the guts of an old Massey.

    • @ClarenceFudWeasel
      @ClarenceFudWeasel  ปีที่แล้ว

    You're a bit "niche" Fud Weasel but I'm a fan because I really like Masseys. I've driven very few, first farm I was on had a 188 and the second (for 9 years) had a 178. It was a bit light for what I often used it for on heavy ish Cambridgeshire ground, could have done with that 188 and the first tractor I ever drove was a 35x. I'm fascinated by how they worked, I did go to college and gained a Craftsman's certificate in agriculture but the wasn't much agricultural engineering involved. I left the land in 86 and went into construction driving plant but mostly trucks, now as I approach retirement I drive domestic bin lorries in Cambs. I'd love a 35x but have nowhere to keep it, play with it or time to fiddle with it. Regards Paul.

    I think everyone should buy the tools they can afford & justify for what they do. I bought my first set of snap-0n wrenches in 1979, & I still use them every day, as I do all the other tools I own from that company. The only tools I was ever disappointed with, were the ones that I bought that were poor quality & had to buy twice. 50 years as a mechanic justifies good tools & I would do it again. My set of tools will be enjoyed by another generation

    Of course I made it that far. No worry of me unsubscribing. I agree, not necessary to spend a lot on tools, for all practical purposes mine are all rummage sale/ flea market brand. About your videos, it doesn’t matter what brand tractor you are working on, the principles of restoration are the same for all except if it’s a Ford (just kidding). You do your work in a straight forward down to earth manner and anyone from a novice to an expert can pick up pointers from you. I myself hope I can pass some knowledge on to others and at 68 I’ll definitely admit that I can pick up info or little tricks of the trade from people 50 years my junior. Not to ramble, just saying it like I see it. Don’t change a thing.👍

    It’s surprising how little you need to work on equipment whiteout thousands or pounds in a kit. Still have a Halfords advance set which is on its 3rd landy and been through 2 mogs and onto the trac. Wouldn’t worry about the yt number, mine jump around all over the place but then it’s a lot worse channel than yours 🤦‍♂.

    • @ClarenceFudWeasel

      So you must have a Whitworth set then as well for the LR gearboxes. I gave up on LR years ago, too much rust and as for the steering relay shaft hidden between the frame and the welded on battery box 🤦
      I don't worry too much about TH-cam stats, I would rather have a few good followers than the pea-brained rabble that makes up a big part of the internet 😁

    Suspect the subscribing issues are more about chicanery that an actual anomaly. There may be an explanation as follows. If someone is sub'd to too many channels, they may not receive timely notifications for new content across the spectrum.. An alphabet example of indifference.
    So some might keep a list of interesting channels that do not post often or consistently, & simply check that list of occasionals - periodically. They sub when they find new content as a means of support but unsubscribe when they leave, again because alphabet is not reliable in presenting ALL of the sub'd channels when signing into YT. This is only a theory, plausibility is anyone's guess .🗽🇺🇸👌 I recently "cleaned up" my subs list, as it had grown & included channels no longer of interest. I find the channels of interest, populate more readily when signing into YT. W/ some housekeeping. Yours & Kimberly' s , very few others, on my sub~list, wherein new content is infrequent. That got a bit long winded. 💡 If I believed in conspiracies, it is alphabet incentive for more frequent content. Yours isn't controversial, but a fellow like Wes Pandy, suspect Google drops subs from his channel, *accidentally* because he does not drink the kool~aid. 🤔

      I think that the workings of TH-cam are convoluted and nothing would surprise me about their traffic management. I have no doubt that they have an agenda and use social engineering to push it. But such is the world we live in. We can't fight it, we just have to live with it.

    Good morning or afternoon Mr Fud-Weasel (depends on when you read this comment) sorry for a ridiculous question asked, do feel free to test any nuclear weapons on to me especially my brain is not what it once was, when you said you worked at a Ford dealership in Essex, do mean a tractor dealership since you a agricultural engineer? And believe it or not this Dunderhead idiot (me !!😬) Did not realise we do have an Elora socket set especially the ratchet were pushed in the head instead of filc the lever to change direction, unfortunately for it's my family member, (I was born in a hospital while he was born in the monkey enclosure in a zoo) love Elora weirdly I always thought they were Draper, another glasses I'm needing, he also loves Britool's and love's their torque wrench's his lathes, hope you enjoy Lisa TRACTOR GIRL Turner's latest video, very interesting lady especially when she answered my questions, do please excuse me I've been up all night because of that mad bonkers woman whom I work for is lambing and her husband has buggered off with his University trip overseas, (He really knows how to avoid punishment) and I see an ape coming this way, I better hide the bananas, have a good day sir.🙂

      @ClarenceFudWeasel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I worked for a while (a long time ago) for a Ford tractor and machinery dealer, now sadly long gone, in Sussex/Kent area. Elora was at one time imported by Draper, but were always an independent German brand. I have been chatting to Lisa Turner a bit over the last few days. I think her channel has a lot of potential, she's producing some really good material and deserves to see some decent growth.

      I don't know if you agree with me on this idea Mr Fud-Weasel but would it be a good idea to mention her channel in your next video to help it grow perhaps? a channel can't grow without a bit of help. I accidentally came across it thirteen days ago and I was surprised by her talents. We need to try persuade her to buy one of 500 series's something better for her tractor road run's although I do admirer her for have driven a 3065 and she said she wished to have a 3095 at one time, a big plus, as for Cowfarmerdan he really needs to buy a 590.
