Just getting Demidov, whom we all agree would be a 1st or 2nd overall pick the year we got Slaf, and if we were able to add a fantastic number 3 centre on a Stanley Cup contending team in Hage... This draft was an overwhelming success. If anyone, including Koivu pans out, that is just gravy! Well done Habs. The future is UNBELIEVABLY BRIGHT!!!

Because of Dach's injury and Arizona winning their last game of the season, Montreal ended up with the 5th position and Demidov. In a rebuild, loging games does help at times !!!

The 'character' theme from the HABS management (Gorton & Hughes) has been in place from the beginning, since their first draft in 2022.
I absolutely trust our management & coaching team.
They are making all the right choices, and hopefully they will not feel pressured to 'RUSH' the rebuild in any way despite the impatience of a few HABS fans.

Sure and Maurice Richard and Guy Lafluer were available in the third round in 2024....if you think Quebec is pumping out the quantity and quality, of the 50s, 60s, 70s and even 80s than you are sadly mistaken. I wish, but the rest of the world caught up and/or Quebec doesn't produce as many. Montreal also doesn't benefit from the scouting monopoly it once enjoyed locally before the modern hockey era. No other team is handicapped by pressure to pick players from one province. Let go of that stupid BS. You're not producing enough good hockey players in Quebec anymore to be obligatd to pick them. You chose an Austrian French-speaker last year in the first round with Reinbacher. Oh he has to be from Quebec? That is what i keep saying regarding the LJMHQ: If the league was such a hotbed of promising prospects, teams would be flocking to these players. Who doesn't want great players? The math is simple: a mountain is full of gold, you go and dig there. A mountain is not full of gold, you go dig somewhere else. You try not to waste a pick in the draft. It's precious. If the LJMHQ attracts almost no one, it only has itself to blame. Ask yourself what you need to do to compete with other leagues. The Minister of Sports, a woman, had a great idea: let's cancel the fights. Meanwhile, other leagues and the NHL allow them.
Well, there you go. keep at it.

    • @ratoftoska7497
      @ratoftoska7497 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

There's no excuse to pass on Justin Poirier twice in the 5th round for random unranked players, and don't tell me these picks are worth anything when we literally picked Florian Xhekaj with a 4th round pick last year because he's a "unicorn." The guy had 25 points as an over-ager. "You try not to waste a pick in the draft. It's precious." ― so let's draft guys who definitely won't make the NHL instead of a shorter guy who could make the NHL who literally fell to use on a silver platter and is a local? No one is complaining about us not using our good picks on Q guys. 5th round picks are worthless and we picked two 100% worthless players instead of picking a guy with some NHL upside.

You realize that what you're trying to point at doesn't logically follow, right? Just because there wasn't top end talent from the Q this year, that doesn't mean that a great Q player available in the fifth is suddenly worth less than a mediocre guy in the fifth.
GMs constantly make mistakes; in this case, the mistake is going to be passing over a talented player because he's St-Louis/Caufield size, for 0 risk because it's a 5th round pick. Tinordi, McCarron, Beaulieu, Kotkaniemi, Poeling and co. were all garbage big guys from the first round. But god forbid we use a fifth round pick on a Q player who might be a steal. We gotta get that "gold."
I am 100% certain that you guys would be crying right now in an alternate reality where Demidov and Sennecke were available, and we picked Sennecke because he's bigger. You'd be criticizing management, rightfully so. So don't act like you would never criticize a GM. What a bold-faced lie.

The numbers aren't there. Year after year. Other leagues are doing better. For the same type of players, they will not chose players from the Q. So why? You don't have to answer. @@magicmike7198 Comparable players from outside the Q wouldn't be available in the fifth round. It's not a good rhetorical question because the answer if obvious, but for my side of the argument.
The rest of the CHL isn't that much better than the Q calibre wise anyway, they just have higher top end players, more often. That's why they go early. We're talking about a 5th round pick; that's not OHL/WHL/USHL whatever HL top end talent range. Whether the OHL or WHL produces more high end talent is irrelevant at this point in the draft.
Your whole argument has been circular from the beginning. This is your logic:
The Q is bad -> GMs don't pick from the Q because it's bad -> The Q is bad as proven by the fact that GMs don't pick from the Q as much. Repeat.
Would you pass on MacKinnon, Huberdeau, Lafrenière, etc., because they played in the Q? Obviously not, so why does the Q's calibre matter so much suddenly? Demidov played in the MHL; that's Russian Junior. Should we have passed on him because it's not the WHL or OHL or USHL? Listen to yourself.

Instead, we got nice picks under the previous direction like: Tinordi, Scherback, McCarron, Kotkaniemi... Wow. Omg they picked Joshua Roy and RHP with 5th and 7th round picks??? GODDAMN POLITICS!!!
"This isn’t your fantasy hockey team lil bro you don’t just draft the guy with the highest stats. You pick the best available in the top ten 99% of the time."
Who is talking about the top ten? Can you read? I said we passed over a guy who was BPA with two FIFTH round picks. You think that people are complaining about Demidov and Hage? You're lost. We did, in fact, pass over a guy ranked as a third rounder due to his size twice in the fifth round. That's all. You think that anyone was crying for the Habs to draft a random Q player with our high picks? Stop day drinking or whatever else you're taking while writing these comments.
"God I miss the days when the habs forced Quebec born players in their lineup like Desharnais and Briere lol those were the days the top 6 just riddled with 5’5 French boys that couldn’t hit or fight. But lucky they had a good Western boy in net to keep the franchise relevant."
Ok, switch teams. No one is forcing you to cheer for this team. If a few Quebec born players on the team makes you this angry because you're a xenophobe, find another team. Support your local team or go cheer for nice western boys idgaf. You chose to support the Habs. Why? Leave lmao. You obviously hate Francophones (we aren't French, so stop saying French) so go cheer for some nice Anglo boys from out West. Go cheer for the Oilers.

@@ratoftoska7497 First off, you know nothing about the junior leagues, lol. The MHL is rated as a better league than the QMJHL. Do you know they have actual data to track the competition level in each league? The Q is much lower in terms of competition than the OHL and WHL as well check the data yourself and stop just blinding believing that shit league is good. The MHL has even gotten better since Russians were banned from the CHL import draft.
And Second just stop with the Memorial cup bs it’s such a tired excuse for the lack of talent in the Q yes they have won a decent amount of cups but the OHL and WHL consistently get talent stripped from them especially the good teams because they produce top 3 top 5 top ten 10 talent on a regular basis. It’s easy to win when not single player is stripped from your team. Just look at benson he was suppose to be sent back to junior and his team was going for another memorial cup run but buffalo kept the kid and his junior team traded Geekie and Savioe. Not sure why they did they were one of the best teams in the league but not as good as other teams but they got unlucky benson would have put them over the top. that doesn’t happen in the Q other than Laf which Q player made the NHL at 18? You have to go all the way back to Nathan McKinnon.
And I don’t hate Francophones; but I believe you guys can’t produce top-quality hockey players to save your life… when Quebec has the same amount of First-round draft picks as the province of Saskatchewan, there is a massive issue in terms of development just look at the population difference in those two provinces it’s sad actually lol. And also You can’t pinpoint two draft picks a decade apart and say it’s a good league, especially when one of the kids isn’t even French, nor did he develop in the Quebec minor hockey league system. Plus, Laf is garbage for a 1st overall pick. He was regarded as a generational talent, and since then, people have stayed away from the Q. If a third liner is a generational in Quebec, I wonder what a regular pick is, maybe 1st line in the Swiss league lol.
and when the Habs try to stay away from one of the weakest Junior leagues politics starts to get played. Just like the Leblanc pick there was no need to pick that kid in the first round also the wonderful Beaulieu pick, then you have the garbage Fucale pick (never should of even taken this kid in the second round when Price was in his prime joke of a pick) and RHP was played on the first line even though he was dog shit for you guys because you need to have a French star…Traded a stud dman in Sergachev for another attempt at a French star are you noticing a pattern of political bull shit in your shitty franchise?. And do you also see a pattern with those 4 picks? Two euros and two Americans. They have a much better hit rate when they draft Western canadian kids. This franchise ruined the career of the best goalie this generation saw, because the team tried to play politics and plugged his team with low level players from Quebec and never tried to field the best team. It’s a shame you don’t base your team off of where players are born you base them off of they’re good hockey players. I hope one day the Habs can win a cup with not a single Quebecois on the roster and with the development in QUEBEC there might not be a single French boy in the league🤣🤣🤣 and I do cheer for Edmonton lots of quality Ontario and Western boys on that squad big and tough which is exactly how hockey players should be and guess what they’re a contender each year. I wish they would draft dmen in the first round instead of Euros but whatever.
