  • In this video, Dr. Fontaine discusses some of the basics in anatomy, such as how and why low back sprains occur. More importantly, he shares details of sensory nerves embedded in the ligaments and muscles surrounding the pelvic joints (sacroiliac joints). These soft tissues are often neglected during injury rehabilitation, especially when there is no treatment following injury. Active release techniques applied to these tissues and sensory nerves allow for better healing and can resolve sensory nerve entrapments that are often a source of chronic pain following repetitive flexion-type posterior element sprain/strain injuries to the lower back and pelvis.
