This is incredible. You guys smashed it with this one. On a side note, this being your first video of the year, I chuckled a bit when the line "I heard you missed us, we're back" came in.
Flippin excellent! Watching the drums only section was great - revealled some super cool roto work, and sounds that reminded me a bit of Billy Cobham's Spectrum!
The pedals used on the actual recording were the electric ones Pascal is using. So to accurately recreate the sound of the song, they used the same electric kick drum sound!
@@cavansvec weird thing, do you think this tune might've influenced metal drummers to adopt that kind of clicky tight bass drum sound for more clarity in guitar heavy mixes? Other iconic drum tones from later in the 80s seem to try and replicate it naturally, by just tuning and muffling the kicks in a certain way (also having plastic or wooden bass drum beaters instead of felt ones)

I just can not for the life of me understand people who try to play drum parts note-for-note like someone else did. It's like trying to have someone else's kids or repeating word-for-word what someone else said in a conversation. This song is definitely one you hafta get extremely close to the original. But memorizing every note that Alex played, for me, is just strange. Good player, btw.
This channel is mostly about recreating the sounds on the record as a "how to get this sound". The nearly note-for-note recreation also makes it good to learn from, which makes it additionally informative. It's not simply to show off or entertain in a vacuum. Usually the sound recreation videos dont have full covers so the full cover videos are in part to appease the "man I wish he showed the full thing" types of comments.
@@TEKKENGOD23 not that he'd even care to try, but I doubt Alex could repeat it note for note at his age like this guy did, at least not without some serious practice and effort. it's been 10 years since the last tour, and he hung up the sticks when Eddie got sick. and he rarely did the intro live except much earlier in their career. either way it's not clear who's actually the ignorant one here.
Forgive me for sounding dumb....but what are you using for the bass drums with no beaters that I can see anyway...??... Brilliant tho...well done all...
Including the stick click after the first break brought a big smile!!
You guys always nail these but this legit sounds EXACTLY like the album. Well done!
This is so accurate, I can almost see the neck brace.
😂
The drumming, the visual compositions, the lighting, the editing -- your videos are the best to watch 😂😂

You nailed it Pascal!!! Hells yeah!!! And that snare, holy crap🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
That is awesome!!!!!! 😱🔥🔥
Amazing cover Pascal! Nailed it.
But Ed’s tone on 1984 was to die for. What a monster tune. The mighty Van Halen at their absolute peak!!!
Wow, great playing!!
Never seen this guy before, well done sir!!! And I have to say, that's a unique kit with the roto-toms. Pretty cool
I have to leave a comment. Flawless!
The best I’ve ever seen do this one! Incredible! And the drums only = So helpful for us hacks. Awesome! Subscribed!
...Thielentastic...!!!
I love the sound,
This drummer is amazing
Kick triggers! That's the way it's done.

Excelente tocada!!🎶🥁⚡✨☝🏻🤘🏻👍🏻🌠💖
Pascal you’re a beast
Gran brano... bellissimo lavoro e video... complimenti ❗🔥💫

Nailed it.

Superbly done! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 The best I have seen on TH-cam. 👍😎🤘🥁
As always, great video!
Great cover!!
🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪
Muito bom, Man!
You gotta do a follow up video for Satch Boogie!
I wonder which cover was the most challenging for pascal??
Excellent ! 👍🏻 the only thing that could have made it better is Paiste cymbals.
What electronics are used for the bassdrums and the floortom?. Cool cover
Roland TM6 Pro, KT-10 Kick Pedals and Roland Single Trigger for floor tom.
@@marcotoscano4692 ,thnx
great performance dude
But one thing got wondering
what happened to the bass drum pedals?

What is the point of the bass drums? Just for look?
Amazing cover! Was Alex known for using the electronic kicks? the feel and response must be so different
He used electronic kick drums and floor toms for 1984 and had roto toms, acoustic snare drum and acoustic cymbals too.
this beat is not as easy to play as it looks...a lot of stamina is needed to keep it going at that tempo.
...it doesn't look easy...
Shuffling the bass drums is tough enough.
more bass drums == good
almost 1to1
Nice! I read that the opening rhythm isn't a drum but an sick hot rod idling.
It's meant to sound like a hot rod. It's all Alex.
I really don't get how those pedals work
Roland KT10 trigger pedals I think.
@@JacksonAxe so is not using the acoustic kick drum and he's relying entirely on the the foot blaster?

Why's that? I'm not a smoker.. rather f'up. Yp?)
But don't be lazy&look at how 539' sounds.

Make those drums louder in the final mixing, after all it’s a drum cover
Where’s that II from sleep token drum sound

@bmac4 Ah, okay. So there's some history behind it. Makes sense. 🤘
I don't even think Alex could do it better
Most ignorant comment I’ve seen this morning. Thanks for the laugh bright and early 😂

4 kicks and no beater at all? No no no… don’t like false bassdrums

They look like Roland KT10 trigger pedals from an electric kit.
