- ABR Managing Director, Alun Davies catches up with the ABR Festival trail manager Craig Niven. Hear about all of the addition of the new TRF Trail, extensions to the Bridgestone Trail, as well as the updates to the rules and regulations on the course.
The jewel in the crown of the ABR Festival is the 30km-long Bridgestone Trail. An exclusive purpose-built off-road course built with adventure and trail bikes in mind. Hi Alun, I live local to Ragley Hall and I popped up to see the bikes doing the trails, coming off the Ridgeway and dropping back down. I went there towards the end of Sunday afternoon and took my camera and took a lot of great shots of the bikes. I have never been to this event but would now love to go as it just looks absolutely great. I am a biker, I had a R1200GS for 16 years and now have a R1250R. I don't do the photos for any financial gain and just enjoy doing it and a few bikes stopped to ask me if I could send them the photos. I did actually send James at ABR a few but have not had a response. I just wanted to know if you have anywhere where I could put these photos for all to see for free and also no one else making any financial gain.

Will be on 90/10 tyres on a GSA, some off road experience, will I be ok on main trail?
If it’s dry you’ll be fine. I’d stay clear of the hard routes as they tend to stay wet longer and can be very slippery.
Glastonbury festival of Adventure Bike Riding is soon upon us, thoroughly enjoyed this really well organised event last year. Didn't think it could get much better but looking at the detail & star studded line up it clearly has!

Hi - really looking forward to it - I attended year before last and thought it was amazing especially in the context of the post Covid ‘re-awakening’. My question is tyre related - I’m a novice, and I’ve got the standard Bridgestone A41’s on my ‘new to me’ GS - which are great ordinarily- but should I be thinking about changing them up for something with a bit more bite for the Bridgestone Trail….assuming the trail is going to get a bit chewed up one way or another over the course of the weekend….and if so, it occurs to me to ask if anyone / any vendors at the Festival are going able to do tyre changes?
I was there last year and road tyres did the job.
If it stays dry your tyres will be fine but avoid the hard sections as the remain damp a lot longer.

Will the Bridgestone main trail be open on Thursday night for VIP ticket holders? And I’ve removed my T7 pillion footrests…want me to pop them back on so it’s crystal clear or are the Marshalls OK with that? Thank you very much, really looking forward to it
The trail opens at 9am on Friday. And no, you don't need to put the rear footpegs back on your Tenere. See you soon!
I have KTM 690, I know Enduro is the name so presume I cannot ride it on the Bridgestone Trail. But I am a relatively beginner rider and wanted a lighter bike and bought the KTM as an alternative to the Honda CFR. I'm coming with friends who are on T7's.I have the stock tyres E-07's which are supposed to be a 50/50 tyre and I'm worried they won't be good enough for the TRF trail. Can I ride the Bridgestone trail?
Have some off roading experience but will be on a GS1250 with road 6 tyres will i be ok ?
You will be fine on those tyres if it’s dry but I’d avoid it in the wet and first thing in the morning until the dew disappears. Also avoid the hard sections as they hold water longer.

Hmmm. Even if it’s dry the long grass gets rolled over and it’s like ice. If you’re going on Road 6’s be prepared to crash.
on the TRF, I know you are saying 50/50 tyre, I have the Metzler Karoo 3s which are 60/40, good confident off-road rider, used these before on many sections of the TET in Europe, in mud, gravel and shale. Is it an absolute NO for any tyre that is not a 50/50 tyre?
Unfortunately there has to be a line and 60/40 is a road biased tyre.
The rule is there for safety and enjoyment for everyone. You will be able to ride the Bridgestone trail.
@Craig Niven good to know, any of the test rides fitted with 50/50 and are they allowed on the TRF trail 😅 or am I hoping for too much from the manufacturers
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider I’m not sure what tyres they will run but they won’t be going around the trf trail.
Karoo is a 50/50 tire. All of the BMW off road bikes on them or the newer 4 tires.
Could I just ask what is the speed limit on the trails please?
The speed limit around the trails is 30mph.
How will speeding be identified and in forced please
@@iangriffiths9930 The marshals will identify the speeders and mark their trail sticker. Two marks and they will be banned from the trail.

@@MrCRAIGREVO it's before then , I was there at just gone 8am last year and the ride in was at 9am .
