    The Native Americans fled the north because of a series of extremely cold winters. The Mayflower landed near the end of that time, but before the natives returned. That’s why there was no contact until after the first winter where a large percent of the Mayflower colonists died, including my 14th great grandfather, William White. The Great Dying didn’t make room for them, the Great Winter did.
