I'm a Gibson player and fan, but the Epi just looks nicer. Much nicer. Just my opinion.

Answer to your question: epiphone factory got machines that work to precision and exact, well gibson got that too, but not for the customshop, in the custonshop, gibson works like the old school, all handbuilded, so you dont got exact things

The thing with the headstock Logo is the fact, that the Furnier from the epi is with a cnc mashine and filled with the Same material as the frets. On the Gibson the they carved the Gibson logo and the Diamond by hand. Thats thats why you have the little extra space thats filled with glue

Israel Vazquez Zerecero I have an Epi bullseye and curious about how the neck feels compared between your two. I think the Gibson has a thicker feeling neck but have no way to check it out myself. Also the bridge pup is closer to the bridge than on the epiphone not sure but that also may affect the tone. Thanks

OK guys, simple! The Epiphone is a sticker/stencil. The Les Paul is an actual INLAY done by the custom shop.

id like to mention the epiphone has a clear coar fret board, and smaller fret wire. the gibson has bigger fret wire and a bare fret board. the smooth fretboard and smaller frets is fine for a lighter string, and lighter strings are easier on your hands. i got old man hands. LORD IOMMI uses light guage strings.

gibson does real mothr of pearl inlays on the head stock thats why you see the roundings. epiphone uses a flat vernier that has the logo name diamond and the black backing all in one.

Have you seen a difference between Korean and Chinese epi camos, particularly the weight. I've owned both and got rid of the chinese as it felt so much cheaper and lighter even with the real emgs. I just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience?

    • @randymiles904

I own several high end imports, and the Korean stuff is very hard to beat. I own a Korean les Paul standard, with a beautiful flame top. It's an actual maple cap and the guitar is at least 9 lbs. It sounds and plays as good as any Gibson I've owned or worked on.

Hey nice video. Just getting started back into playing after 25 years and I'm looking to not spend more than a few hundred dollars and after watching your video I think I'm just going to go with the Epiphone. Considering it's probably about a 10th of the price. Any amp small combo amp you recommend? I heard that the PV viper 2 is a nice combo amp

Go for it! If small combo/practice amp is what you're looking for, I'd say just grab one that's a deal from any of the major brands that is pre-loaded with effects for you to play around with and is portable & convenient for transport if you want to rock out somewhere else. Cheers dude!

I can vouch for all the info here as well - I currently own this Gibson, it is my second ZW Camo and I also have a LP Custom Bullseye. Another important difference is that the Gibsons have binding over fret edges. Neck profiles are different as well - Gibson is like a 50's neck, very chunky, the Epi is thinner. Gibson is also a fair bit heavier than the Epi.
I also have one each of the Korean made ZW Customs as well (Bullesye, Camo and Buzzsaw all Unsung plant mid 2000's) - They all have the extra wood in the heel on the back of the neck.

Tim Jones I had a feeling the neck profiles were different between the Gibson and Epi I’m thinking the new Wylde audio versions are closer to Gibson feel since Zakk actually plays that version. Have you noticed that the Epi bridge pup is mounted closer to the bridge? I’m wondering if you find a difference in tone especially if any for Epi have active EMGs? Thanks
