Thanks for the detailed and informative review. It looks perfect, except for the gaming input lag issue, like with the Q2 Pro. Are there any similar quality mini projectors with batteries that don't have this issue?
Hiya, the Original Q2 had much better performance when it came to input lag. But there has been a new update to the Wimius Q3 which addressed all the app issues. In my video description I've listed all the apps that have been fixed. I will need to test this machine again when I get time, to see if input lag has been improved with the new update. Hope this helps 🙂👍
Hi there, I've just checked the manual and it doesn't state the short throw distances. When you say 35cm image is that just horizontally across or diagonally? And are you sure you mean cm and not inches? I'll set this up and check for you once you confirm. Thanks 🙂👍
Thank you so much for this great review and comparison! I have the impression that moving images in particular look much smoother and more fluid on the Q2. You can see that very well with the black horse, or is that deceptive? 🙂 Thx and best regards
Hiya, thanks for your comment. 🙂 I was streaming from TH-cam so smoothness can be affected by my internet speed, and not just the projector itself. I'm glad you found the comparison helpful. I'll let you be the judge of what looks best and smoother to you. 🙂 I appreciate you dropping by and leaving me some great feedback 🙂
Great (best) review on this unit! Could you tell me if you can run this on an external power source like a power bank, to get a longer run time, or would that ruin the encased batteries? I would imagine the on board rechargeable batteries are not easily replaceable? Thanks!
There have been 2 updates since my review, these issues have been fixed since my review. #Update :Wimius have now pushed an update and fixed some of the above issues. 1. The white Netflix app now works properly once updated via the Google store. 2. ITVX now works once updated on play store. 3. My 5 now works once updated on play store. 4 Amazon prime app now working, but must use mouse curser on the remote control. Apps still having issues.. channel 4 wont run without Google play services, which are not supported on your device. This I updated a few weeks after my review on my video description. There might have been more updates since, but I haven't checked it lately. Hope this helps 🙂👍
thanks, just got the Q2 pro last week haha. I always thought the Q2 pro also had 720p, the previous version was lower res if i remember correctly. So i dont understand how Wimius can say the Q3 has higher resolution (40:56). From looking at your comparison, i would still prefer the Q2 pro with the smaller pixels and accept the overall lesser sharpness. Given that the Q2 pro has a 3400mAh battery and the Q3 having 8000mAh battery i expected a bit longer duration for the Q3: All in all i am not sure if it was worth it to release this as a better model
I know the Q2 pro looked better to me in terms of pixel density, but the sharpness was better and contrast and colours were slightly improved on the New Q3. I found better app compatibility on the Q2 pro as well. But Wimius are releasing a software fix for the Q3 soon to fix for better app compatibility. As for the resolution looking lower than 720p in my testing, Wimius are looking into this as it may only be affecting some models. It's a new product and new products sometimes have software glitches, but Wimius are actively working on fixing some of these issues. They even emailed me today saying there should be an update very soon. You still made a great choice my friend don't worry, the Wimius Q2 pro is a great machine. I often buy things too, and then a new model comes out! 🤣 That's always the way with technology. Plus Wimius are really fast at releasing new projectors onto the market. How are you liking the Wimius Q2 pro?
@@ReviewingHub Dont worry, i am still fascinated what they were able to squeeze out of those little boxes.I could return the Q2 to amazon but i wont do it. The differences are too subtle for me to justify that. I notice they call the Q3 pro dust resistant, that would be a plus though. The value for money of all of those units is great at the end of the day
I'm glad your happy with it mate 🙂👍 The Q2, Q2 pro, and Q3 all have fantastic dust resistance. I haven't had any yet on all 3 of my machines, that's one of the best things about DLP projectors. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found the video helpful 🙂 @cryptogaming9935
The input lag is due to the refresh rate. Try changing the HDMI input to 50 Hz and it will be resolved. The same happens with Steam Link and similar devices; it's simply the projector's refresh rate, which is 50 Hz.
@@ReviewingHub Not just for gaming, but for media players as well, you should set it to 50Hz. For example, I use Stremio and Kodi, and I have to set them to 50Hz, otherwise, I get the judder effect, which is the loss of smoothness. Normally, media players like VLC, Stremio, and others in their settings allow you to maintain the 50Hz refresh rate of your screen, or even on the Steam Deck or a PC. So, having it at 50Hz is not a problem, you just need to take a moment to configure it. To see this for yourself, cast a video from your phone to the projector and then change its resolution. You'll see it works at 50Hz, or check the video info in VLC when you're playing a movie. I hope this helps; the projector is amazing, you just need to take your time to understand how it works.
Of course, I bought this as well! 😂... I need to ask you a question.... what is the maximum distance I can hold this projector? I need it to figure out how many inches I can make at most, since I would like to buy him a projection screen of the portable kind... 80? 100? 120? In fact, if you have a canvas to suggest, please send me the link...thanks! 🥰
Hi, 🙂👋 Ha ha 🤣 nice one👍well this is a great little machine my friend. 🙂 I've just checked the manual and it doesn't state any max distance image size. But I think you would be ok with 120" I would try to stay under 200" as the bigger image you try and project, the image will look less bright on the screen. I think 100" in the sweet spot 120" should still be great! You want a projector screen that has a black backing on so light can't pass through the projector screen. You want as much light the projectors capable of bouncing back at you as much as possible. Those cloth bed sheet screens are terrible! You will loose a lot of light, contrast, colour saturation, and sharpness using them cheap screens, Try to avoid them. Any pull down screen, or motorised screen, or fixed frame screen on Amazon should be fine. The Duronic brand on Amazon is pretty cheap and should be great for getting the most out of this projector . Any screen with a black backing you should be good! And try to look for a gain factor of 1.0 or 1.1 within the listing. Hope this helps 🙂👍
After a few days of use, from not too long distances, I think I hate that black pixel edge! I think I will go back to the q2 pro, which did not have this effect....
Oh that's a shame, yeah the pixels blend into each other far better on the Q2 pro, this is why I pointed this out in my review. Wimius tell me it may only be affecting some models and that they are looking into this as all the tests they have done with the Q3 outperforms the Q2 Pro. Thank you for letting me know how you got on with the Q3, it's much appreciated. It also helps Wimius improve their products as they might read the comment section and get genuine customer feedback like this. Thanks for sharing your experience it definitely helps 🙂👍
Today support replied to me, I sent them pictures.... they suggested a useless solution... that of increasing the brightness from the picture options. Obviously it didn't solve anything.... I'm very annoyed... I sent them back the pictures to let them know how useless their suggestion is! I think if they don't find a solution I will proceed with the return!
Thanks for getting back to me. 🙂 Yes brightness will definitely not solve the black border resolution issue. Wimius emailed me yesterday telling me the factory is upgrading the machine so it can present true 720p resolution. I'm not sure if they mean through a software update or through hardware? I would maybe wait until they have sorted the resolution out, it maybe only affecting some models, but I understand where you're coming from as the Q2 pro does look superior when it comes to Resolution. I'm sure Wimius will find a solution for this soon. But I understand if you're going to return it. And I really Appreciate your feedback 🙂👍
Also from today, I have another serious problem: the projection does not start.... there is the home screen, then everything off...permanently off...it's broken...after 3 days of use 😐😐😐

Thanks for the video. I purchased the Q3 a week ago and have been very impressed but the Q2 pro looks awesome too. Agree with most of the findings in this video. Combination of mouse input and normal input to select menuitems. I downloaded chrome and an apk installer and managed to download and install some other apps. Is there a way of customising the menus or apps displayed?
Hiya, I haven't really tried customising the layout yet to be honest. I've just reviewed this projector as it was sent to me, and from a first time buyers perspective. Wimius tell me there will be a new update that will be pushed out to all devices soon, which is great to see. How did the other APK's work when you installed them onto the machine? Did they run smoothly? I'm glad you are liking the new Q3 hopefully in the next few weeks it will be even better with this new update. 🙂👍

Hiya, Yes you can use a power bank to extend the battery life. The power bank must support fast charging, and output 2amps, anything under and it won't charge. Hope this helps 🙂👍
It won't compete with Wimius 1080p home cinema projectors no. As most of these are 1080p resolution. The Q3 is designed for portability and convenience, so it's not really meant to compete with the home cinema line. However, it does come pretty close considering it's small size, it packs quite a lot of performance in a tiny little machine. Also, what I didn't include in my review Is I had this projector on for over seven hours straight! It was connected at the wall and it didn't overheat or shut down which was amazing! So this machine can be treated like a home cinema projector if users wanted to do this for long periods at a time. This machine has been well designed when it comes to cooling. If you're a pixel peeper, you will see individual pixels at around 2.6 meters away on the 80 inch screen. Stand around six to seven meters away and you probably won't notice the pixels. On a 1080p LCD projector you don't notice any pixels at distance. Hope this answers your question 🙂👍
