You remind me of my dad. He was always looking for a cheap plane to pick up and get running. He bought a gul wing v77 stinson that was used in ww2 than sat in a hanger in MN for over 40 years without seeing the light of day. He bought it and flew it home to central ND after spending 1 week working on it. Watching you makes me think of my dad. Thanks for the great content keep up the good work.

Haha my dad bought a Stinson station wagon in the mid 1970’s. Ended up having a bent crankshaft, probably from tipping on its nose with the engine running. He sold it at a big loss…

I flew a Stinson Wagon a few years ago, had the 'Big Rudder' conversion, short field was awesome, top speed was ummmm...
But you couldn't beat the nostalgia, it wasn't mine, it belongs to a good friend, he sold it and funnily enough bought an RV... because it was faster. He paid about $45k for the Stinson.

Hey Jimmy, you should consider taking the jet home and pimp out the interior into a cool AirBnb with full on controls and a flight sim in the cockpit area. Also screens showing SkyKing, TopGun, The Great Waldo Pepper and other flying movies. If you could trailer it to Sun n Fun bet you would rent it out for sure. More fun than a Winnebago. Also a place for your volunteers to sleep when working on the 310. Just think of the possibilities. 😁

When a plane is stripped of still valuable parts it is usually because it can be no longer signed off on annual. The reason for that is a fuselage has a limited life cycle in terms of a number of pressurization of the craft. 1 takeoff and one landing is one cycle. The number varies but as predetermined by the aircraft mfr. The mfr. knows how many cycles they designed before metal fatigue definitely occurs. A15 minute flight is one cycle. They also have limits on engine hours as well. You got took!

When I first saw the thumbnail of the other video I thought you would refurbish it and get it flying. Now that I see inside, INCLUDING all the missing avionics I don't think you could even re-purpose it as a sim. If you gave it a simulated (think cheap LCDs) cockpit of a newer Citation, like the 3 or CJ4 a simulator might work. Otherwise, I think it would make a cool man-cave for when you cannot be on a plane or at the airport.

Having watched in my life a lot of Cessnas being built and flown, it hurts my heart to see one meet this kind of demise.

It's got real good air flow on those jet engines run a hose to the back and you have afterburners 👍🏼🤠🇨🇦

Jimmy: start a overnight Air B and B with an Airplane! Get old planes just big enough to make a cool overnight place to stay and provide the film Airplane for visitors to view!

Jimmy, I absolutely love your videos and commentaries. You remind me of me in my younger days. We not only share a similar sense of adventure, but a similar sense of humor as well. Back in the early 70’s, while kids my age were into chrome and flames, I was into bringing classic cars, trucks, and whatever, back to their former glory. One of my best was an old and worn out 1946 Stinson 108-3; the “Station Wagon of the Skies.” I picked it up for $1,600. The bones were good except for a little corrosion in the tail. You know, that little place that nobody can get seem to get into to inspect. That and the engine was toast. It had a well roasted and toasted 6A4-150-Franklin. A fellow I went to school with got me 6A4-165-B5 165hp. Franklin for $500, that needed to be rebuilt. C’mon, it’s like a VW engine on steroids only with two extra round thingies that, I believe you call them, money to noise converters. This thing also came with pontoons, that were used only once. Since my brother-in-law did contractual work for Edo Corporation, in Manhasset, Long Island, NY, they not only refurbed my ‘toons’ but also painted them in the same paint scheme of my Stinson; all for $500. My first flight was 5 months after purchase. When I opened the hanger doors, the previous owner damn near passed out at what he saw. When I pulled out to the tarmac and we were ready to fly, I put him in the pilot seat. And yes, he was the original owner, 1946. He said, “But I don’t have a license.” I said, “Neither do I… let’s just go for it.” I scared the crap outta’ him. All in good fun. 😂

On my 16th Christmas I got $500 in cash as a present. I used it to buy a Russian night vision scope from the now-defunct US Cavalry catalog. It was awesome.

Omg the wife greeting at the end and your reaction I’m in tears love the content and I love airplane scrap yards scored some seatbelts out of an old usair 320 a captains seat out of a md80 and a damaged winglet had to make an appointment but if u are a serious buyer they will let you buy stuff out of scrapped aircraft

Engine cost; I would guess you will need more like 500k for both no? Not the same technology but a new pt6 is close to 1M.
On the live show, here are my ideas:
    - it would be nice to do one with the 401 guy rebuild rescue
    - let's talk about the status of the 310, what's been done, the schedule to completion, the budget (spent and to be spent) etc
    - a few ideas of next project like the constant-speed prop Lancair
    - more generic topic but whats the future of GA with ever increasing gas price and parts for certified aircraft.

I recently told my better half that I want to buy an ex airline bathroom and put it beneath the stairs in out future home, hidden behind a regular door. She laughed and actually likes the idea! She also wants some galley carts for the kitchen. She's a keeper.

Cut the wings. Mount the fuselage to a trailer and remake the interior and sell it as a “glamper”.
Better yet, buy several more of these and put them into a ring of static displays, serve box wines, Ritz crackers and cheeses for a new fangled glamping experience.

I’m a 78 year old airplane nut with 46 hours of flight experience. Haven’t flown since 911. Do you think it’s crazy to still want to get my private license and eventually buying a 152 to build hours. I live in Trinity, Fl. Really enjoy your crazy adventurers. I soloed in a 172.

Definitely need to name this the 1/2mill project.
That’s what you’re gonna have in it just to get it to roll across the ramp down for the annual and then probably another 150 to 200,000 to get it out of annual.
