    This all round flat water board is without a doubt the most compact iSUP board on the market. Shorter than the incredibly popular 10'6" Ride, and yet still very stable, the 9'6"x32"Compact allows similar ability paddlers to get on the water. But with it being much lighter and half the size of the Ride when packed down it really does allow you to take it places. After reviewing the Red Paddle Co Compact in January 2019 we've received lots of questions asking " Is this just a flat water board or can it handle itself in the surf too?" We put this super compact board to the test with a small family surf day at the beach.

    Great handlig of the board! I just bought the Compact 12 and I am super happy. Paddling on the sea would be next level for me as a beginner, I really enjoy the lakes around Munich at the moment. Thanks for showing. Greetings from Munich, Volker

    Awesome to see your daughter on the water with such confidence!! Great video, I'm yet to get out of the river and into the sea on my iSUP and I have a feeling Izzy will put me to shame! 😂

    Your a good man, can’t wait to take my daughter out on the waves once she’s a little older. Awesome video, hope red paddle makes some changes to the whip soon. Otherwise this may be the board to add to the quiver.

    This came out just after I bought my Ride 10'6 for travelling, typical! Love the 10'6 though, it's very versatile. It will be coming with me to Italy shortly.

      Sorry about this Spin Drift. The 10'6 is still a great board I know you will have loads of fun with it. Its cheaper than the Compact too! Thanks Reuben / SUPboarder

    It's amazing how an inflatable object can take that. It took those waves with the weight of a man on top, yet it didn't bend in the middle. I would like to see it take on some slightly bigger waves.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have surfed other inflatable SUP in surf well over head high and this board felt stiff enough to handle much bigger waves too. Thanks Reuben

    Hi Supboarder, love your vids!!! Just wondering whether the red ride 10’6 will perform well in the surf? I bought it as more of a beach day board but fancy having a go in the surf! I’m a lighter rider so any thoughts would be great. Thanks, Sam.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Sam, I have surfed on a 10'6 many times. Its not a performance surf SUP for sure but it will be fun on the small days. Just get your weight back onto the tail on takeoff and the board will be happy to play in waves up to waist high. Thanks Reuben

    Do you have any issues with your compact?my first board cracks in the middle after 3 times in the sea. Also I know happening to other's. Second board no problem at all for now.

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nikos. We didn't have any problems ourselves but like you we did hear others having issues. I believe the issues have all been sorted now and every single board that had a problem was warranted. I think investing in these boards is still a great move. Thanks Reuben

    how would it compare to the RIDE 9.8? I'm looking at that and it seems similar spec.
    I'm missing an allround isup in the fleet, more for family beach days and holidays. but would like it to be fun in 2ft-ish surf

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John. Yes its a very close feel on the water. In fact I would have a Compact over a 9'8 and for family days out like in the video it's perfect. Thanks Reuben

    Thanks for the helpful review on this. How would you compare it to the RPC Whip for surf?

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Whip has a finer tail. So it surfs better then the Compact. But because of the fins on the edge of the compact it still surfs well.. But the Compact has a bit more stability. Thanks Reuben

      9ft itiwit no longer available until March next year ☹️

    • @SunriseSessions
      @SunriseSessions 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@burbusbond hmm. That's a bummer. Did decathlon confirm that they will be coming back in March? I thought that I saw on there Belgium site 'discontinued line' which would be a shame.

    • @burbusbond
      @burbusbond 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SunriseSessions I messaged them on FB and they said there was a supply problem bit they where coming back. I want one. They look good

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what you want it for. The Itiwit is a better board in bigger surf but for small surf like in the video the Compact works fine. For finish, quality and ease of transport the Red Compact wins every time. /// We haven't heard anything about the board being discontinued. But if they do I cant imagine that they will be leaving a gap in the Itiwit surf range. Thanks Reuben

      I bought the 500 surf in 8ft length for my 7yr old and 5yr old daughters to use on the lake and messing about in the sea. they love it, and the thinness of it at just 4 inches makes it super easy for getting on and off, less affected by the wind, and nicer when the older one starts to catch little waves. At the moment in the surf we play on it without paddles - so using it as a big prone board, me on the back, her learning to paddle with her arms then stand. saw a great youtube video of this from some surf school in hawaii, using a sup with an instuctor on the back to get kids feeling confident about paddling and popping up. but more fun seems to be having three fiends sitting conga-style on it, with me shoving them into waves. Then when they're bored/tired...its a decent little board for me to surf on. On flat lake stuff we use the Red 32" wide, but also the itiwit 12'6" by 29" touring, which is heavy but fantastic too, and great value.
