It just amazes me that Singapore managed to restore/preserve their ecological balance so that otters can live in the water near the city. Can’t imagine the same in my city. It’s so unbelievably beautiful!
Otter don't survive just anywhere, they need a natural water source for food, they prefer fish or seafood, we have river and ocean otter here. Someone's pond with fish in it will do just fine too. The koi in Vancouver's Classical Chinese Garden were decimated by an otter that kept coming back, and that's right downtown in the city. The otter became known as "The Godf---otter"
There isn’t as many otters as this makes it out to be. There is estimated to be 180 otters in Singapore split across 17 families of otters. It’s not actually that many. I know people who live in Singapore for 4 years now and have still never seen the otters. I also didn’t see any when i visited.
@@pentestical8265given the total land area we have of about 730 square km, spotting an otter is fairly common. Spotted them in Pandan reservoir, Clementi canals, Botanic Garden, Sentosa, Bishan Ang Mo Kio park, Singapore River, Garden by the Bay, Sungei Buloh quite a number of times. Other areas like Sentosa, P.Ubin also known for having them. Would be a little unusual to hear of people not seeing them despite living here. They are fairly fearless of human and unfortunately even have reports of aggressive interaction with people.
That is really fun to watch, otters and crows living in harmony... Crows pulling tails and otters don't seem to mind it & casually left the fish carcass ... Real patience & hard work by the BBC EARTH team
trust me crows are nothing to be favored. I'm pakistani/indian from pakistan (indian subcontinent) and trust me. even tho I have had a good relationship with crows (not so much with kites, I hate kites. Kite is abird related to the eagles), but my family mebers and neighbors absolutely hate them. Whereas a kite is an open enemy, attacking chickens, snatching meat etc, crows are devious and very smart. They'll purposefully poop on your car if you are their enemy. you park your car in another spot they'll poop there aswell. You park your car in the open, they'll dive-bomb (a term we pakistanis use for target-pooping while the crow is flying) and these house crows originated in indian subcontinent, so they know these areas very well. They are so smart and evolutionarily inetlligent that even tho our areas were native to many other species other than the crow, like vultures e.g, other animals all became extinct, while the crow still survives and actually thrives. When you live this, and you grow up with them, you'll realize they're nothing to like. The crow almost taunts their prey while killing it, it has a sadistic nature, research on youtube. In all the other birds, animals, wild dogs in our area, I've only seen the crow do this
I once befriended a crow and it REALLY liked my shoelaces. We used to play tug of war with these and once I let it win it completely lost the interest, when I started to pull back again it vigorously started pulling back . Fascinating birds, they do like pulling and claiming things for themselves 😂
I have seen four little black birds (those with yellow beaks and white edge wings) pranking a monitor lizard the same way with no food involved on the floating platform in the same marina Bay Area during F1. It shows birds too like games, even if it involves a little danger
They are simply adorable and totally at home in Singapore. Have seen them wonder around the estate several times and came close to their pack in Sentosa to realise they can be quite fishy smelling. Until they ate the koi at a nearby church, did we realise how super rich the church was to even keep such expensive and costly pets. The same also happened to a much disliked unit in the neighbourhood😊😊 who kept infringing on public space by even building a fish pond outside his public housing unit -same fate to the fishes. That silly man actually complained to the local press and photos of his illegal structure and story came out in the MSM. Thanks to the otters for exposing such social malaise. Unknown to that resident, the otters actually came back to look for fish a few weeks after that during daytime. 😊
Commentator: Crows seem to have an instinctive understanding that pulling tails is an excellent distraction, and helps them swipe the otters' food. Crows: WE ARE DINOSAURS WITH WINGS GET OUTTA OUR BOSS WAY SILLY NOOB FURSNAKES
Crows and ravens have long graced the skies of the United States, their presence intertwined with the fabric of American landscapes. While I can't confirm if they're specifically house crows, they've certainly left their mark on American Indian lore, becoming symbols of wisdom, mystery, and cunning. Their ancient presence suggests they could have arrived on these shores as early as the Mayflower, their enigmatic flight tracing a history as rich and storied as the land itself.
These crows are an invasive species which came over from Malaysia. Over at Johor Bahru their population are out of control and squawking everywhere contributing much to the filth and uncleanliness of the place.
The US has always had crows and ravens. I'm not sure if they are house crows. American Indian lore has crows in them. So they have been here for some time. Could have come over on the Mayflower as far as I know. 😊
Different species. Notice the brown patch on the back of the neck, unlike the carrion crow (European) and American crow which are all black. They certainly could have made it clearer in the video, though!
Beautiful creatures too bad they live in the body of water. We decide to throw all of our garbage in the last documentary I saw them was talking about how many of them are getting sick because of the pollution in the water.
When, oh, when, are the producers of this and other wonderful programs, going to listen to their older and deafer audience and reduce the volume of the mood music while someone is speaking???????? We, who love watching these programs CAN'T HEAR THE DIALOGUE!!!! Myself and a lot of other viewers have been saying this in our comments now for a few years, but it seems that our cries are falling on DEAFER EARS THAN OUR OWN!!!!! This trend is so bad now that I don't even try to watch any of the new productions and go and look for the older and more sensibly produced programs. People with good hearing just don't understand the problem.

It's cus their also a national icon in a way, they are too cute to be harmed 😂

I'm not sure I would call it harmony!

LOVED visiting Singapore...from Africa ❤❤❤
💯💯
Awaiting your next visit 😊
Singapore is on my bucket list, both my brothers rave about it. 😊

Singapore, never fail to amaze me❤
I'm in love. They are very cute. 🥰
Unbelievable, amazing success in harmony! Where there's a will, there's a way. Hopefully, may my home country in Asia follow suit!
Singapore 🇸🇬
Otters are our real Singaporeans.
@@tangt4860😂🤣🤣

This video should have much more views!
Silly cawcaw friends!

Crows with a sense of humor😂😂😂! This great. Considering all the other things researchers have determined about the crow it just fits perfectly!
...Open to all things gastronomic 😂
I otter go see those otters !
“Avian Marauders.” 😆😆😆
In Singapore, the largest predator is the Water Monitor Lizard that eats everything 🙂
Nope. There are river crocodiles.
It's so funy how little the otters care
Cute!
Crows are very very clever
Go Otters, get past the feathers and there's a good source of protein.
Hahaha I'm just pullin your tail
I found out my work has contracts in Singapore 🤩🤩😍🤩😍😍🤩😍
I totally am signing up to go!
Visit Pandan River, next to Clementi and stretch of Holland Road, in the morning.
Thanks for meaningful and valuable video as always ❤❤❤

Crows kinda seem like flying cats
So cute ! I'm so fascinated by those cute otters . I gotta go chasing after them ~
Amazing animals 😊
It doesn't say who the narrator is, but it sounds like Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery to me.
Very Informative.🎉 Spinal Nerve Checking
Thanks.
Real life ossawott❤
wonderful ❤

Good for you
Gelungenes Video. Gruss Jürgen 🤠
Otter attacks!!
These crows are terrible 🐦⬛ 🐦⬛ 😂

No house crow did not hitch a ride...Singapore is not even half a mild away in sea from the main asia land mass as a crow flies! Yes the crow flies!
Love the video, those otters are adorable! ❤We explore topics like Singapore's hidden gems too, swing by for more!
They are trying to play and make friends! Like some do with wolves and become hunting buddies❤
its all cute and game until you realized the otters are on a civil war for territory across the river
It have to be in their DNA because I see crows doing it to all kind of animals
❤

Around 1:32 there is a brief shot of hooded crows, not house crows. Wrong species in this context.
So cheeky crows everywhere pull on tails. Cats, dogs, other birds, and even otters are harassed by these intelligent birds, sometimes just for fun.

Que lindas lontras!! Adoráveis ...mas os corvos estragaram a refeição, são incómodos!!
Antes del COVID, en Sentosa, los cuervos ya estaban haciendo daño a toda una familia de nutrias y había que ahuyentarlos.
👏

😍 - although I would prefer Sir David as the narrator. Hopefully we'll have an AI voice soon!
Atleast Crows only pulling their tails, not making furr stuffs from their skin like Humans
Não tem o vídeo só de ariranhas não criançada?
I think the crows pull the tales of the otters because they think it’s a worm
Crows pull the tail feathers of larger birds too to annoy them .
Now , u might wanna update ur thesis !
a lifetime ahead of getting your tail pulled!? i wish
Dangerous animal even tigers do not attack when otters are in group .
Honey badgers of the east ?
Haha
Narrator: “The otters have made the city their home”
It was their’s to begin with
It's not pranking; It's a strategy for stealing food.
" they'll even do it when there isn't food involved ... "

Hi
Is this on Netflix?😭
Love the video but is the loud music really necessary? It competes and sometimes wins against the soft spoken narrator.

I HATE CROWS
Where is Sir. David? Is in unacceptable.
Terrible audio mixing.
The narration is weak sounding and often drowned out by the music.
Also, the music is overly patronising.
go vegan for a life 💕
WHAT THE HELL?!!!WHY WOULD ANYONE THINK THIS IS OK!!!!!ITS HORRIBLE AND SICKING THEY DON'T BELONG OUT THERE.I CANT EVEN WATCH THIS 😭😭😭😭🤬🤬🤬🤬
