Glad you like that. However, I do still use cups for some measurements, and those are the US cups, which are bigger than Japanese cups - not sure about German cups. The cups I use are 16 tablespoons - if that helps.
I never put cream cheese in soup before isn’t that bad for diabetics ?I do like cream soups however. My doctor wants me to watch carbs at this point I am confused. I dread my next visit. Your opinion please.
Cream cheese has a low glycemic index (10) so it is not bad for diabetics (note, I'm not a doctor, just studied a lot of natural health). The carbs to watch in this soup are the potatoes.
I am sure the five of us actually living in the area (assuming a random number) would even pay to have a humble dinner party prepared by you. If John talks about it maybe even some of tourists will show up.
@@AhidoMikaro That would be fun, but my studio is quite cramped and we'd have to eat the dinner in the nearby park. Better would be for us all to get together and have dinner at Chiyo Okonomiyaki.
Sounds good to me. Now if only you can have it in late April or later, so I would have actually moved to Osaka first, it would be even more awesome. Of course, no pressure. It is your choice at the end of the day. If you would rather not have such an event, no hard feelings.
But where is the seasoning? Pepper and salt are just the start...what about garlic or dried onion or celery salt or smoked paprika and nutmeg? Cabbage is always complimented by nutmeg. No red or white pepper? Not even chives or parsley? Bland for sure.
In this soup, I don't want to overpower the natural flavours. Bland? I don't think so. Rather, a comforting soup. But please, feel free to add your desired condiments.
That bacon does the business for this dish! A nice bread would be a good pairing. 😋👍🥓
Definitely. A dense rye bread goes great with it.
So hearty and delicious! Thank you Kevin! I love the use of cabbage, an ingredient i many times overlook...
We eat a lot of cabbage raw, as coleslaw with my blue cheese dressing. Great for you.
Omg this is amazing! Thank you so much 😊
You're welcome. I'm glad you like it.
looks amazin. by the way i like how you add the "grams" since i´m from germany it´s hard to figure out what cups or ounzes are

@@KumasKitchen ok thanks, I guess I can convert those 16 tablespoons into my metric system
Looks delicious Lord Kevin. 😋
Thank ye, Sir Newton.

Great recipe. I plan to substitute beer for water.
Great idea!
Thanks for another great recipe, Kevin. Which cream cheese brand did you buy? I haven't been able to find an authentic tasting one in Japan so far.
Can't remember the name right now, but the Seijoishii stores carry it in a 1kg box.
Have you considered a fan meet up at Osaka, or do you think it is too early for that?
Osaka is a bit of a long swim for many of KK fans.

@@AhidoMikaro I will consider it. Let me know when you've moved here.
Is soup a meal?
With a couple slabs of heavy rye bread it certainly is.
mmmmm, bacon
Say no more! Bacon makes everything delish.
