    A: "To scare cats, birds, smaller dogs and delivery people"

    I remember that we had like 8~10 games as normal, with 12 round games are special. These days most of my games are barely 5, 6 round, maybe 8 for a "good" round where both players had fun. A 10 turn game is like a magical 14 round game in the past. Ultra rare ...
    Or those fun card drops, where somebody goes ball and get the extended range ball card ... yay for what, 120m+ ranged balls. So many games are even from the start a issue, with opening units that can be ultra beneficial for you vs your opponent or ultra detrimental for you ... Or the fun ranged badger firewall.
    I kind of miss the old games more... So much these days is random, that i simply do not like it. You can build up a strategy and all it takes is one good card drop for the opponent and your entire game falls.
    Even worse is how much a impact Cheese tactics have like Level 5/6 Saber with regen to eat large amount of damage, or level 7 Rhino in a corner, and so many others. And then we have the most "fun", fire ... that just kills all chaff or acid for pushing you going anything giant. Both with no real counter, especially acid. So rounds get even shorter as a simply 200 credit can turn all your chaff into tinder, forcing multiple economic investment to counter and shorter rounds again. And oil only makes it worse because now you can not have one oil, but two, three!
    And that matchmaker need to go home! Nothing more fun as being 1450 mmr, and getting 3 people in a row with 1300 mmr, you lose to all 3 (because, say it with me, they are not noob players with 100k base experience), well, here is 90 points drop. But then you need to craw this point back at 12 a 17 points, with people on your level. I noticed often that at the 1400 mmr, there is a lack of people higher then 1400, what results in a barrier, and where lower ranked mmr player where you lose to, have such a big impact. Just frustrating... If people are spread around even, but these days ...
    Its a shame how random and short the games have become.

      Yea games we a little bit longer before. Also you felt something when you could assemble a high level unit by yourself or use some crazy card combinations to build something different. Certainly a big impact also when you see less cards because of unit drops and the economy cards for example are nerfed to the ground that they dont provide a new path for the game anymore but they are more like "can i get this 50-100 extra value this card provides"

    Rat: Do you think we should have harder counter against wraith? Currently it seems like many of the mechs that should counter wraith can be teched in a way these counters struggle. For example overlord should counter it but if wraith is ahead either in levels or tech (or worse: both) then overlord doesn't really deliver. And the other unites that should counter wraiths have glaring weaknesses (such as phoenixes - if wraith user has forretress with anti air barrage it might not be able to reach wraiths). Or would nerfing wraith further eventually fix the issue?

      Great video btw, i think i have learned a lot about positioning and decision making in your past few videos like these where there are 1 or 2 matches with some live commentary where you explain your thought process and answer twitch chat questions.

      I think the wraith might have a little bit too much HP. Getting a lucky early level or some health item early on reduces the counters a lot. I still lose a lot with the wraith but it's so strong I try to force build it to boards against which it isn't good. But if you are disciplined with it, it's just so strong. And there's a lot of situations where this applies. It's not a niche unit at all

    Im trying to climb up to 1300 mmr now and your videos are very helpful. Could you please advise, why do you choose repear for wraith, but not the armor against mustangs? I feel like it would my choice

    • @SurreyEZ
      @SurreyEZ  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      you mean why i have field maintenance over armor equipped or? the armor is only against mustangs, field maintenance workd very well against underleveled phoenix, marksmen and it wins the wraith mirror matchup. And most of the time with the wraith unit drops the field maintenance is enough to block mustangs. So armor has only 1 use case in the game while field maintenance have multiple

    Genuine question though, what do you believe makes oil so bad for the game? I don’t disagree, in fact as an agro player I’m pretty inclined to agree, but I’d like to hear your thoughts on that matter.

      I recall him mentioning somewhere along the line that oil used to be OK before the unit drop patch because there counterplaying was possible. Since the unit drop was introduced, however, the game became shorter and very decisive in much fewer turns, so an oil turn could decide the game right there.

    • @SurreyEZ
      @SurreyEZ  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I think because it's always available and so strong it makes many later rounds too random. For example if there's 2 good spells for the enemy to choose from or 2 completely different good free units to choose from and on top of that you have the oil. There's so many good plays the opponent (or you) can make it just becomes random because you cannot play around all of them. You have to randomly counter one out of 3 good plays the opponent can make because you dont have resources to cover all angles. So it's not about "predicting" it just becomes random. And this happens on a later round where you take 3k damage when you lose the round and instantly the game is over.

      That makes complete sense, you really can’t predict when it comes down at a point. And there’s nothing you can do about it either way. Thanks for elaborating
