BlackBull (Mayan | 1500) here, never been so excited for a game of Age of Empires. As a group of 10 friends playing and watching the game for over 15y, the amount of theorycrafting, discussion and hype that went into this dwarves that of any other game. Fun fact: we contemplated for weeks on the most optimal/complimentary strategies and civ combo's that would play into our individual styles/strengths, just to decide the last day to go all random. To be honest, I'm happy we did as it brought much more creativity and fun to an already dynamic (position wise) Nomad style map and matchmaking. It's one thing to see them play, it's a whole different story to play against them. The level of military control and map awareness while booming is amazing to experience at first hand. For anyone going up against these titans, if you don't want to be caught with your pants down, keep it basic. The more unorthodox/risky stuff you try the more you get punished. I like random tactics and chaotic plays (hence Dr. Chaos) but it just backfires, it's where they thrive. As the guy who always floods our group chat with War Elephant builds/tactics, my face was nothing but smiles from cheek to cheek when my inevitable end was approaching (Today I learned: Halbs X Monks ✓). Once again massive thanks to Hera & Yo for being such a cool sport. From rescheduling multiple times to joining us for a short chat afterwards in our discord, it was wholesome all the way through. This battle may be lost, but the war is not over...
nice bro, you gave Mr. Yo some trouble 1x1 he had to ask Hera for samurais and food. The problem was the purple player he went chinese with no food and no sheep, near Hera and Yo, he almost did'nt play, and yellow somehow got raided by Yo's cavalry. If purple was another civ like persian, he would have a better start.
What an awesome comment. I've been playing AoE2 casually (hard AI) on and off for like 20 years and only recently got into watching the pros play. My mind can't fathom how many actions they make in 5 seconds and how they multitask so many different things as once. Don't see me getting bored of watching 4-6 great players being caught with their pants down against 2 elites :D Good to hear you had fun and indeed it was great of them to have a chat afterwards! AoE2 seems to have a cool community 👍 I'ma watch the video now!
That was such a great game. Really enjoyed to see more team play as well, as your bases were much closer and you sent troops to each other to assist. The other 2v6 with Viper and DauT felt more like 2x 1v3 but this one was really a team game. Keep them coming!
I know Yo uses another streaming platform but I always like getting to see him pop up in vids and in tournaments. Also like whenever he gives his thoughts on the games. Great vid!
GG, great for the win. Yo does not get enough exposure. Hera good vid as usual, even though I don't play any AOE games. You and spirit of the law are top of my playlists.
its hilarious that someone knew that was about to be filmed, went to the twitch channel, saw it was offline and still chatted, and because hera uses the same layout for the recording we were all blessed with the chatmessage sticking around the whole video
@@LCH974 He was also the lowest rated player in the lobby and had unknowingly made his starting TC right next to the two literal pro players they were facing but yeah, let's make sure to single out and roast the guy for not making the perfect decisions at every stage of the game.
A real shame what happened to purple here. It really made it 2 v 3.5 or 3.25, despite their amazing efforts to stay in it anyway. Had they had a slightly better start I think this would have been a lot harder.
I have so much respect for Mr. Yo. I used to not like him but I love the fact that he is such a trouper. He continues to work and fight even though he is like #5 in the world and hasn't broken through.
Nice video as always this series is awesome! For the low elo scrubs such as myself any reason why you went for Horse Collar? Thought the general consensus right now was the payoff on that tech takes so long it's not worth it.
If I'm not mistaken it's only the last mill upgrade (crop rotation) you shouldnt take , since more food on farms is good in feud to save wood and heavy plough accelerates the food production of your vils on farms
Horse collar absolutely pays out. There is a balance of when to get it, but you do need it eventually. I'd argue Hera should have gotten heavy plow a lot sooner too. The key is, how many farms are you making? The upgrade benefits every farm after research, so if you want 3 farmers, it's definitely not worth it. But if you have 30, it's absolutely worth it (think, delaying an expense of 1800 wood for about 4 minutes, indefinitely). Also, heavy plow actually increases effective gather rate (because of the +1 carry capacity), so it pays out even more. As you say, the payout is delayed. If you're doing an extreme all-in play, probably don't bother with the farm upgrades. In such a strat, the key is to do damage as early as possible. Skipping those upgrades will move up your timeline and increase your chances of doing damage, and often times the outcome of such a game is decided before the farm upgrades would be paying out significantly. But if you're booming, as Hera was, you need those upgrades.
People say Horse Collar isn't worth it, but it's situational. They had a very good base setup in the corner of the map w/ one player really nearby that they could destroy easily. Hera was able to make Fast Castle with only six farms, and once he clicked up, it'd be silly not to get Horse Collar. His plan was to eco boom and defend with walls, some siege, and a couple monks, not even a Barracks until the end of Castle Age. When you're in an all out boom, Horse Collar is absolutely worth it. If he had to make a bunch of farms in Feudal to play out his strategy, he would have skipped Horse Collar for the first set of farms.
(It's also because Yo sent him all that food in the form of sheep, so he could delay farms. If he had to build lots of farms to make it to Castle Age, he probably would have skipped Horse Collar then, as he would have prioritized Fast Castle over saving wood later.)
Ok hear me out. A 2v4 series where you play against viewers, except your teammate is a beginner player that you have to carry to victory any way you can.
Okay 1500 elo is an insane level compared to most players, like top3000 out of 40000 ranked players, those 1500 elo guys know the game, their BOs, basic (or even advanced) micro...etc. How on earth could Hera and Yo win this game, that doesn't make sense you guys are just insane XD
Purple did a good job wasting their time and then just surviving, green and yellow were holding basically in a 2 vs 2 for a long time, when I saw that and cian just chilling behind making eco and preparing the army I thought it was over, then he showed up full paladins vs japanese halbs with no siege or backup range units, non the idea of the century, sorry bro, you kinda lost the game for the team
Good to see Mr.Yo. The guy doesn't get enough traction for how good he is.
dude he's big in China, they have their streaming platform
@@manen.1350 we'll he doesn't get enough traction for non Chinese then.
i mean hes definitely not underrated, generally people say hes 3rd or 4th rn, behind viper, hera and (arguably) jordan at times.
@jundies171 yeah not underrated at all just doesn't get enough screen time I guess is what I'm saying.
..? Who isn’t rating Yo??

Yo is such a charming dude, hope you'll have him on again soon
The people demand more mr yo!!! Love that guy
This was the best one of the series, it was like an arm wrestle and you guys kept pushing back, gg. Also Yo is a beast!
First time hearing mr yo speaking, he does not sound like the evil aoe2 enemy I thought he sounded, he sounds like a rlly nice guy to be honest
Hera: "Their solid, good competitive players."
Also Hera: Makes 1 magonel and 2 monks until Imperial Age to defend himself.
Awesome gameplay. For the first 25 minutes couldn't tell if you will suddenly lose or not. Very entertaining
It really felt like one about three occasions Hera was on the verge of being boxed in badly enough to really take him out of it!

So Viper was the problem lmao
Hahaha, but I'd like to watch him more though sounds like a fun guy.
This felt quite fair, very entertaining game. Also really liked to see Mr Yo, he is a beast!
best of the series!? We need Viper to come back to redeem himself.
I got dyslexic and read 4 pros vs 2 intermediates. Sounded like a beat down 11
"Let's see how good you are"
Yo: and i took that personally
It was great to see Mr. Yo. Appreciate what he does for the game, and I hope to see him in the future.
Thanks Hera for what you do for the game! Absolutely loved this video. You’re awesome!
Yo has absolutely no respect for us plebs..Savage gameplay tho
Yeah Hera's like "they're 1500 and 1300 that's solid!" Yo does not sound convinced at all.
@@j1g2w3 lol Yo said something like "did you say they are solid?"
I know Yo uses another streaming platform but I always like getting to see him pop up in vids and in tournaments. Also like whenever he gives his thoughts on the games. Great vid!
Mr yo: i need food.
Hera : buys food.
Mr yo: sell food 😂 "price was tempting"
You can really see the level increase in difficulty at 1500 ELO....This was so fun to watch...great synergy between you.. MORREEEEEE
xD
dude you were so happy interacting with another pro while playing you had such a good mood during that game .. :) love to see it
Yo is a class act haha great game guys
Hype! Collab with Yo?! Awesome!
That discord call sound man xD I rly thought that somebody called me :D
GG, great for the win. Yo does not get enough exposure.
Hera good vid as usual, even though I don't play any AOE games. You and spirit of the law are top of my playlists.
Love these collaborations!
I wish Yo was able to stream on Twitch or TH-cam as well :)
Yo: "Use your monk to do the thing." Lmfao
ngl the communication between you and yo is hilarious, good banter.
its hilarious that someone knew that was about to be filmed, went to the twitch channel, saw it was offline and still chatted, and because hera uses the same layout for the recording we were all blessed with the chatmessage sticking around the whole video
Man... you are so chill even with the pressure on. When I play with my friend we are always screaming and blaming each other for losing haha.
2v4 might be the right balanca
Purple trying to tower rush at feudal age when opponent already castle age for 5 min 😂
it was working if he sacrificied himself to deny hera eco it essentially becomes a 3v1 in castle
@@fukers2stop No it was useless and he wasted time and stone for nothing.

@@Nysyarcbro chill, that was no roost. Let's keep it nice
my two all time favorites 😮
This is such a great series, barbarians at the gates!
Whats insane is a 1500 would kick my ass yet you beat 4 on a map with no real advantage at the start for everyone.
Same thoughts here!! Indeed there is a lot to learn
Two of them were 1500, then another one was 1300 and the last one was 1150
with op civs too
It was fun watching you two play off each other in such a crazy situation, more with Mr. Yo please! And oof for no elite...
Awesome game @Hera and Yo!!
I enjoyed this! 2 of the best vs advanced players is fun to watch.
im glad you guys won this one, i think the war eles came in clutch because they have good population value
Mr. Yo is a hilarious.
Both of my favorite players teaming up is just massive! 😍
mr yo is a unit in this game and deserves more credit , ggwp
first time hearing Mr Yo talk, this was nice
The APM in that 25th minute 😵💫😵

Mass elephants and mass samurai, just the way it should be!
Yissh Mr Yo is such a good team player!
Great video, thank u❤❤❤
Great video!
Hera is so strong, he can do Yasama towers without actually getting the Yasama tech.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!
You should do Pro + noob vs 4 Intermediate. Basically just team up with a noob to fight 4 other noobs.
Just saw Mr Yo playing, but never herad him talking
He seems to be not just a great player but such a nice guy
We love Mr Yo❤️❤️🇨🇳🇨🇳

I did not knew Mr. Yo speaks English like this.
We missed an opportunity to ask mr yo why he choose this nickname.
I mean its not often to hear him in English.
What breed of sheep are those?
I was wondering for century why no elite samurai 11
Can you try another match teamed up with the Viper
Hera and 7-0 in the same team, hard to beat.
Making me want to play again. I dont know if my old ADHD ass has the ability to micromanage like that anymore.
