Glad you got something out of it. I post videos where I see a gap in TH-cam content because I get so much out of these types of videos. I haven't worked on my XJS for a few years now but will get back to it very soon... Improving and preserving.
A really helpful and insightful video. I have used this to take my dash out and change all my lights to LED. The covers over the 5 bulbs for the speedo and rev counter were that discoloured I unscrewed them and took them off. It transforms the dash, I went for amber orange glow bulbs. Am now trying to solve the fibre optic lighting, the two interior light switches, I have a feeling the fibre optic might have been cut thinking its a radio cable. Again, thank you.
Glad you found it useful. I consider making these videos payback for all the great content available that has helped me. Good tip about removing those covers, I may go back in and do that.... After my 15+ other important projects on my xjs. :-)
I am breaking a 1989 XJS V12 Jag .. 128,000miles Engine and Gearbox 100% can be heard running .. all parts are available if anybody needs parts - I am based in Ireland
To clean any copper...just sap some steak sauce/brown sauce with a Q tip wait 5 mins depending how bad it was ...dap off with clean Q tip and rince with 91+% rubbing alcohol let dry and done...try it on a penny🙂
I really like your videos and find them helpful. I am wondering if you can make a video on how to remove the center console for the purpose of carpeting the floor.
Thank you. I know my camera work is awful, but i just make them as I go hoping they'll help somebody. I also only make videos on work that I'm doing....and i don't have plans to do the carpets or remove the center console. However, I have removed the ski slope a few times and (on the 1986 - not wood) it's 2 or 3 screws just under the center console lid at the top of the slope. Remove those, and sorta work it out as you go. good luck. Perhaps make a video? ;-)
👍 If I want to just change the warning strip of lights to LED does the cover just pull off or are there screws? it looked like the corner screws had nothing to do with the cover for the bulbs!! Thanks for the video.
Tbh, Ken, is have to watch the video again to check. It was quite a while ago. Give me a couple of days to have another look. Glad you learnt something ....
Hi Peter. Love the video, very informative. I have a 1984 XJS SC and I have removed the cluster and found a white wire that come up from fuse 4 in the main fuse box which I believe is the main power for cluster. Before the white wire gets to the connector (smaller of the 2 cluster connector's) there appears to be what looks like a bulb holder, which has burnt out badly, the center of whatever it is that goes into it (bulb/fuse?) Seems to be fibrous with a winding of fine wire. Do you have any idea what that be so I can buy a new one. I have looked on service manual and spoke to David Manners rep but no joy on what it can be. Any ideas? Cheers
Would this be the fibre optic cable going to the heater controls, Brad? Just a guess. If it looks like it's fibre optic, shine a light down it to see if something on the center cluster lights up?
I'm fixing up my 96 xjs but i need bulbs for the dash and warning cluster...anyone know what bulbs I need and where to get them?..also where did you get that print out at?..TIA
Hello Sid, The bulbs came through Amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014FBGKLC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EJB6V30/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have the print out you mention and I'm happy to send that to you if you give me your email address or other way i can send it. It seems I can't paste it here. Regards Peter
I have the technical repair manuals, and Haynes. Booth are a must, to my mind. All are also posted on the XJ-S Owners FB group , under the files section (tbh not sure how to get to that). But they are all there thanks to one contributor, Paul Kobres. Take a look. The FB groups are an amazing source of info, and a very supportive group. I've learnt so much from that group.
Yes, I know. I'm sorry. I'll give it a go. I only post if nobody else has posted anything on the subject. tbh the videos are not my favourite part... I only do it to help out others a little.. .like i said, if others have posted on th subject, I dont'. But i will try to get better at it.
Really appreciate your in-depth jaguar repairs. Love these old cars
Pro tip : you can watch series at flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Maxwell Graysen yea, been watching on flixzone} for years myself =)
Brilliant - thanks so much for posting this; all my bulbs are so low in brightness I can hardly see any of them, even at night..!

VERY helpful! Thank you!!
Creating videos is a pain. I really appreciate that you made this one.
Thanks.
Thank you for another great videos. I have to replace the wiper motor on mine.
Thanks. I'm glad it helped. One of better ones in terms of camera work....I really must improve that side of things.

WOW! Now I know why English cars are known for their bad electrical.. that soft plastic "circuit board" is CRAZY!

Hi great video, thanks. I notive it looks like your coolant temp gauge doesn't work, neither does mine, is this something you've had to fix?
Hello, Warwick, my coolant temp gauge does work, but rises very slowly after a cold start.

How do you access the rear of the cluster to replace the bulbs? I'm working on a 1991 XJ6.
I hope the video would show that. I'm not sure about XJ , though. Try Adam Clemenson (sp?)..living with a classic. He works on XJs

Where did get the brand new stalk? Great video!
I don't actually remember now, tbh. It wasn't hard - search around.
good luck.
Can you tell us where you found the wiring diagram?

Cheers mate...just DL it..again...thank you!!!!
Can is send my cluster so you can fix mine (-:
hahaha. it's amazing that when you've done these tasks once, taking it on again feel so easy. Give it a go.
Is there any way you can plan out your videos a little better in advance? Your subject matter is useful but your presentation is incoherent.
