Canada is in a much better position than most people realize. Most of what they export to the US are things the US doesn't have or can't produce enough themselves. Examples are aluminium, nickel, potash, high grade uranium, and softwood lumber (Canadian SPF lumber is stronger and easier to work with than US southern pine, thus preferred by US builders). Canadian heavy oil is what most US refineries are tooled for, but the US produces light sweet crude. Factor in electricity exports and a trade war with Canada will be severely damaging to the American economy.
Real nice "tell" at :50 , Ian. You know that you're not telling the whole truth. IIRC, Colombia has been accepting planes all along. They rejected the planes based on the mistreatment of the passengers and that the planes were military - not commercial - planes.
Colombia had approved two US military flights before abruptly rejecting them. Why aren’t they repatriating their illegal immigrants? The Colombian President cites “mistreatment,” specifically mentioning handcuffs and how they were treated as “criminals.” However, entering the United States illegally categorically makes them criminals. Moreover, these individuals are likely responsible for violent crimes, so their criminal status is undeniable. Regardless of whether they are handcuffed, it was likely a security measure to ensure the safety of the monitors on the plane.
