I am a lesbian and I reject this type of teaching. It is not age appropriate. Children should be taught to respect everyone, to share, to be kind, not to bully. No propaganda necessary. I also respect that parents are the ones who have authority for their children's education. Teachers work in loco parentis (on behalf of parents) but they can never over-rise the wishes of the parent.

Most practicing Jewish people live in close knit communities where they do have control over their schools and have significant community influence. There few Jewish religious leader on TH-cam who have been vocal but I do agree the majority and mainstream jewish public are not speaking up because I guess if they are not at least moderate or Orthodox Jew, they are mostly cultural/non-religious Jews. Israel is also a very very very veryyyy gay middle eastern country. The are massive pride events in many of the Israeli beach cities. So I guess they don’t see at as a problem / it’s normalized unless they are very orthodox in which case they are not partaking in public schooling or public life and relegate themselves to small close knit communities. Sorry for the super long winded reply!

I am Muslim and I have never once felt shamed for not celebrating Christmas nor will I ever shame others for not participating in Ramadan. To each his own and his family. When I was in elementary school, the big argument was centered around Sex Education and parent’s rights to choose what their kids learned. We’ve come a long way since the 80s, and I understand how parents feel now. I’m glad News Nation features opinions from both sides.
