Hey, Co-Editor here. My first real time editing something like this. Felt I had alot of expectations placed upon me. Thank you for givng me this opportunity Fawful. Hope to work again soon. Would appreciate any and all feedback so I can improve going forward
Just keep on doing what you're doing! The editing in this video was wonderful. All the footage, clips, and visuals were accurately related to what was being described, and with excellent cuts and timing, too!
I love how Nintendo can take concepts as basic as "Dark Samus" and "Dark Pit" and turn them in into multilayered, well-written characters in their own respective rights. Dark Samus alone goes through more development and growth than most modern day protagonists from the biggest AAA companies.
One of my favorite parts of Minion’s general content, especially Unmasked and Halloween lists, is how he’s not afraid to lean into a lot of speculation and theorization. It adds a lot of creative freedom and captures a real primal kind of feeling for playing games, only accentuated by his writing and delivery. It doesn’t ever feel like he’s forcing us think like that, it feels more like an invitation to ponder all the what ifs, even if they don’t have any ground or merit outside of our own belief. That level of creative boldness is one of the reasons he’s stuck with me as a top-tier top-tenner for so long. Keep up the good work
The fact that Dark Samus went from acting on survival-instinct to grand plans of galactic domination and sport, is even more terrifying after remembering that during the final battle against her in MP3, after a certain mechanic, she has does an actual demonic EVIL LAUGH
Dark Samus has one more massive feat that wasn’t mentioned: as shown in Metroid Prime 2’s 100% completion, even if her physical body is destroyed, so long as Phaaze is still alive she can regenerate infinitely. Let me reiterate: the only way we theorize to PERMANENTLY kill her is to DESTROY A PLANET. Keep in mind the sheer concept of Metroid Prime 4 might mean that Dark Samus’ mortality being tied to Phaaze isn’t even true and DS might just have straight up IMMORTALITY.
I figured that Prime 4 might have the Metroid Prime husks on Phaaze come into play. Imagine a legion of Dark Samus' "offspring" taking up their "mother's" cause after her demise.
It might be something like a saw in a fanfic, where Dark Samus revived from the random Phazon particles and debris left in space, which is why it took her so long to regenerate this time, and means she is made of the last Phazon in the galaxy.
@@johncronk8867 that’s the other main theory on her immortality being linked to a factor. The thing is that Phazon isn’t like a a small breed of animals you could put down in a kennel; it’s a naturally occurring substance that’s spread to various planets throughout the galaxy in Metroid. Trying to destroy every trace of Phazon would be like trying to eradicate every single trace of gold on Earth. It’d be like if Voldemort made sand-not just one grain, but the entire substance-a horcrux. It may not technically be outright immortality, but it functionally basically is.
A lot of theories are floating around Prime 4... for one.. we might not encounter dark samus at all. They are dead.. but knowing of *sigh* Metroid Prime Federation Force and Metriod Prime Hunters... It's kinda obivious who a certain "Sylux" truely is. An unknown being in a prototype suit and hates the federation, follows Samus and fights like her even using it's ship. It's alt form is faster and can chain bombs. It's main weapon DRAINS ENERGY?! And at the end of Prime 3 an unknown ship chases Samus who speculated to be Sylux's ship... I think we can confirm that part of the Federation may have tried to make their "own" Prime. The Evidence is in Fusion. The outcome in Dread. The Clues in Hunters and Federation Force. Phaaze, Phazon and Dark Samus maybe gone, but it's corruption never left. Also let's be real.. Metroid Baby DNA + Phazon samples to make a suit to hold off phazon = "Let's make our own phazon metroid"
@@kotlolish *facepalms and mutters* Somehow considering they were willing to mess with the X parasite and try to use it, that rogue corrupt faction in the Federation being arrogant enough to want a Metroid Prime of their own and think that they can control it and making one wouldn't surprise me. Seriously, who's at the corrupt faction's head, Metroid's version of Masayoshi Shido? That unnamed rogue corrupt faction in the Federation is like the Weyland-Yutani of Metroid at this point!
It's crazy at just how much Dark Samus and Phazon as a whole managed to achieve in only three games thus far. To think that a substance like Phazon turn what was basically a simple alien creature into one of the most powerful and vile villains to exist is nuts. I also consider it to be more terrifying than the SA-X. Whereas the SA-X was going mostly by instinct, Dark Samus chose to be a monster in both outside and within. How fitting that the being that nearly corrupted the whole universe is a dark mirror of it's greatest protector.
It says a lot about how OP Dark Samus is when she has good odds against SUPERMAN if she can adjust her Phazon’s radiation to mimic the radiation of a red sun.
IIRC, there was a comic issue where Superman found himself near a melting-down Nuclear Reactor, causing hit to INSTANTLY shrivel up and almost die. I think his powers have to do with him being able to absorb Non-ionizing radiation from stars like the Sun, hence why Red Dwarves make him so weak (And, in theory, Blue Giants would make him even more powerful than on Earth). If his body absorbs Ionizing Radiation the same way, Dark Samus doesn't need to adjust her Phazon's radiation output. Keep it on full blast and he'll either die to Phazon Radiation Poisoning, or worse mutate and become yet another pawn of the Phazon Corruption. The fact that he CAN'T use Phazon against Phazon without harming himself seals his fate.
@@chazon1780 Oh, Yod. Imagine Phazon Kal-El! Heck, Phazon Omni-Man! Phazon Kakarot! Phazon Beerus! Phazon Doomsday! The possibilities, no. The certainty is endless and dreadful! @@uzumazin5099I think the most truly horrifying Phazon-corrupted character to think about would be the Thing from the movie of the same name. Vader would stand *ZERO* chance. I don’t care HOW OP the Force is, if Dark Samus merely *existing* can cause such massive damage to entire planets to the point that one literally split into two completely identical yet somehow more monstrous copies of itself, one side of which is basically in it’s own *dimension.* I don’t think Vader can do much.
It only took someone like Fawful's Minion to make it hit; Yeah, Dark Samus doesnt have any actual combat experience. She was born like, 3-5 years between Prime 2 and 3. Phazon was all she had going for her and it did the job just fine...until it came to Samus herself. A legendary bounty hunter KNOWN for her extensive combat experience and overwhelming adaptability. Dark Samus sighed her death wavier the instant she corrupted Samus with Phazon.

@@aidanhammans9337 No. I don't know if that "Phazon Seed" had Phaaze DNA in it, not to mention Samus only gets Metroid DNA in Metroid Fusion, which take place after Metroid Prime 3.
I find myself curious as to your thoughts on Phazon in a separate video. It's nature as a corruptive force is rather fascinating. Though, one wonders how the Metroid Prime shells ended up on Phaaze. Dark Samus is not the only enigma. Creatures like Gorea from Prime: Hunters comes to mind. The various Hunters. Then there's Sylux. Even though it's no way my call or anything, if there's one villain I'd like to see covered in Unmasked!, that would be Eobard Thawne, also known as Professor Zoom, Reverse-Flash and man in the yellow suit: scientist from a distant future obsessed with Barry Allen, the Flash, finds a time capsule containing his hero's suit, experiments on it and gets powers. Flash by a sheer coincidence arrives in Thawne's time and then he begins to fabricate crimes just so he could fight crime alongside his hero, gets busted from what he did and then decided to try again, legitimately and when he was ready, he travelled back in time to go see his hero again, but found out that he didn't matter to Barry's life in any way... except that in Flash Museum he found out that he was destined to be Scarlet Speedster's greatest enemy, and so he did become just that, doing ANYTHING he could to make Barry's life as miserable as possible by being as petty and cruel as humanly possible. And thanks to the fact he was in the timestream when Flash created Flashpoint timeline, Thawne became a living paradox, meaning that he can do ANYTHING in whatever time period without the fear of concequence and can come back to terrorize Barry no matter how many times he gets killed. And ALL OF Thawne's ridicilously circutious schemes are just means to spend time with Barry, because, as Thawne's yellow costume says, from the very beginning, he wanted to be Kid Flash, Barry's sidekick, but fate is a cruel mistress, and cheats at cards, so Thawne had to be his hero's enemy and one of the most broken AF villains in DC Comics. Not just with how powerful and fast he is, he's broken, literally, figuratively, mentally, physically, temporally. Easily my favourite evil copy in all of fiction. Sorry Dark Samus.
...oh my god what if in metroid prime 4 we played as dark samus, on the brink of death, having to regain several of their phazon powers over time, while the samus part of her starts taking more influence, making her a dark hero, reflecting how modern samuss metroid piece has started taking more influence of her, in dread, with the ending being saving samus from that bounty hunter that made a cameo at the end of 3, and the two of them taking a moment, with samus recognizing dark samus, but shes become...something more, something...better, in a good way We could even finally maybe get a shot of helmetless dark samus, potentially, as the speedrunner ending secret, to show how much shes evolved internally, her body now becoming a sort of biological exosuit, akin to samuss metroid suit Holy fuck thatd be sick, that literally came to me out of nowhere Edit: welp, so much for this idea lol
I somewhat doubt Sylux could fill the boots of a final boss main antagonist, but I do also like the idea of ‘Metroid Prime’ itself having a distinctly different role in Prime 4. It occurs to me that rather than revealing OG Dark Samus to have somehow survived Prime 3, it would tie up the loose ends with Sylux if the Metroid hatchling he has as of the ending scene of Federation Force is the key to Prime’s revival.
@@welshlout3400 i completely forgot about this theory I made Anyways, as for the response, I think he could fill the boots of a final boss, he just has to be built up to appropriately Like, being the only hunter to capture samus is a big deal on its own, but we could also, through scans throughout the game, uncover the details that led to it, additionally, samus had a chozo equal in raven beak, sylux could be a bounty hunter equal, showing its all of Samus factors combined that make her what she is, not just the different pieces Maybe working alongside the pirates to train for her tech, maybe an exchange was planned but sylux bailed on it to keep Samus as a personal trophy, inviting the presence of the space pirates searching for syluxs whereabouts (which also enables use of the pirate troopers from prime 1) Maybe, as a VERY cool detail (considering we play dark Samus in this scenario), sylux utilizes aspects of the space pirates tech and Samus own suit to become a pseudo Samus bossfight wise (think metroid prime phase 1, with the shifting colors and weapon arsenal), where the only primary weakness he retains is volatile phazon, the stuff dark samus is comprised of As for character stuff, it would be insanely interesting to play as something with two strong personalities, the apex predator Metroid prime instincts vs the inherited Samus mental aspects, and seeing that conflict over the course of the story, additionally, since phaaze was destroyed, dark samus is no longer connected to the internal phazon hivemind in any capacity, allowing some expression of free will Like, dark Samus encounters an imprisoned Metroid, furiously destroys its containment like Metroid prime, but then afterwards, displaying a maternal affection for it, ala samus and the baby metroid, with no words necessary, perfectly in line with Samus silent protagonist approach and simultaneously with dark samus lacking a voice and thus showing its personality split through it's subtle actions Maybe even something as small as it making a claw hand aggressively in response to something, taking a breath, and it's hand resting to a more determined, almost mechanical pose, like a determined and focused samus ...they're probably not going to do this but I think it's an insanely good idea to try
soo now i wonder, Sai-X at full power. (max stats as samus was in the prime trilogy w all samus upgrades and skills) or dark samus if she succeeded in absorbing a whole planet of phazon? (assuming she got her goal at the end of prime 3)
Since you already did Bill Cipher not too long ago. Perhaps you should do either The Core (Amphibia) or Emperor Belos (The Owl House). Whichever you prefer really.
@Fawful’s Minion would you ever consider doing an unmasked on the Lich from adventure time he is such a deep, complex and lovecraftian type villain who is truthfully terrifying I think he would be amazing for an unmasked if you see this tell me what you think and please let me know how I can make this happen

It occurs to me that rather than revealing OG Dark Samus to have somehow survived Prime 3, it would tie up the loose ends with Sylux if the Metroid hatchling he has as of the ending scene of Federation Force is the key to Prime’s revival.
@@welshlout3400 i completely forgot about this theory I made
Anyways, as for the response, I think he could fill the boots of a final boss, he just has to be built up to appropriately
Like, being the only hunter to capture samus is a big deal on its own, but we could also, through scans throughout the game, uncover the details that led to it, additionally, samus had a chozo equal in raven beak, sylux could be a bounty hunter equal, showing its all of Samus factors combined that make her what she is, not just the different pieces
Maybe working alongside the pirates to train for her tech, maybe an exchange was planned but sylux bailed on it to keep Samus as a personal trophy, inviting the presence of the space pirates searching for syluxs whereabouts (which also enables use of the pirate troopers from prime 1)
Maybe, as a VERY cool detail (considering we play dark Samus in this scenario), sylux utilizes aspects of the space pirates tech and Samus own suit to become a pseudo Samus bossfight wise (think metroid prime phase 1, with the shifting colors and weapon arsenal), where the only primary weakness he retains is volatile phazon, the stuff dark samus is comprised of
As for character stuff, it would be insanely interesting to play as something with two strong personalities, the apex predator Metroid prime instincts vs the inherited Samus mental aspects, and seeing that conflict over the course of the story, additionally, since phaaze was destroyed, dark samus is no longer connected to the internal phazon hivemind in any capacity, allowing some expression of free will
Like, dark Samus encounters an imprisoned Metroid, furiously destroys its containment like Metroid prime, but then afterwards, displaying a maternal affection for it, ala samus and the baby metroid, with no words necessary, perfectly in line with Samus silent protagonist approach and simultaneously with dark samus lacking a voice and thus showing its personality split through it's subtle actions
Maybe even something as small as it making a claw hand aggressively in response to something, taking a breath, and it's hand resting to a more determined, almost mechanical pose, like a determined and focused samus
...they're probably not going to do this but I think it's an insanely good idea to try
0:09 bench me! bench me!! IM TASTY!!!😂😂😂😂
soo now i wonder, Sai-X at full power. (max stats as samus was in the prime trilogy w all samus upgrades and skills) or dark samus if she succeeded in absorbing a whole planet of phazon? (assuming she got her goal at the end of prime 3)
500 views after nearly an hour is catastrophic! I thought this video was really well put together.
Glad to be back on the High-Tier Patrons and on a Metroid video no less!
Let us manifest Metroid Prime 4, together!
Damn good vid. Love the censors, they add so much fun to this. Prime 2 was my first metroid game so Dark Samus holds a special place in my heart 😃
Can we get an Unmasked on a Final Fantasy villain, like Sephiroth or Kefka?
Metroid prime looked at ridleys persistent of going after Samus and said "bet"
Your best option against Dark Samus is plot armor? Shooooot, where can I get some of that stuff?
Dark Samus is Pennywise from IT.
Well this video is pointless, I mean Dark Samus already WAS unmasked in the thumbnail
Holy fuck I needed this. Thanks bean man!
"I defy you to look away from Dark Samus."
Since you already did Bill Cipher not too long ago.
Perhaps you should do either The Core (Amphibia)
or Emperor Belos (The Owl House). Whichever you prefer
really.
Mr. Minion I think you just turned me into a Metroid fan.
Are you gonna cover live action villains on Unmasked, Fawful? If so, I think you'd have a field day covering OZ's Vern Schillinger.
This should be fun
Finally philly's episode, 1000000/10 video
I have never played any metroid games, where do I start if I want to
Metroid Zero Mission.
@@FawfulsMinionCountdowns Always the best option
@Fawful’s Minion would you ever consider doing an unmasked on the Lich from adventure time he is such a deep, complex and lovecraftian type villain who is truthfully terrifying I think he would be amazing for an unmasked if you see this tell me what you think and please let me know how I can make this happen
Probably never happen but would love to see Giygas
If we're looking at Villains of all Types.
Then let's take a gander at Cell from Dragon Ball Z.
the bean's back with a bang
14:30 how is that UNFORTUNATE that they’re easy to find?
7:34 did it have that attack in the original?
17:44 Call me the contrarian to all the contrarians lately, but I’m already sick of the “PURE evil” narrative. Dark Samus was literally set up for madness, what makes you think it WOULDN’T end up turning irreversibly horrifically evil?
Damn bro went crazy
I still wanna see Plankton
💜‼️🤠 Double feature!!
yoooo
Metroid Prime is possibly the SCARIEST villain in video games I’ve ever seen other than Dark Matter!
i just going to say dark samus it's female
