Thank you for reply! Yes, for the pivoting, absolutely, the same practice here. What i'm talking about is: once i pivot i put the nonpivoting leg behind me (which you do very fine, in straight line, rather than the circle that sole make). This foot that goes behind (here they teach) should not receive the body weight, the weight should stay on the front leg. The front leg received the body weight just after/during the pivot.i used to plant my weight on the hind leg and it took much more time and inertia effort to respring. When i do tenkan by keeping the weight on the front leg, my body stays in space in the axis of the pivoting point. If i put my weight on the hind leg after the pivot my body withdraws backwards in space. Such a withdrawal will prevent me to do ikkyo ura or any technique using tenkan correctly because of such a withdrawal messing up my good positioning. All this is said in exploratory mood, not at all as if i correct you in a superior way :D i don't even say you do it incorrectly, mostly asking how things are there. Best

Here they teach us when we put the leg behind in the tenkan, to keep the weight more on the front leg. I cannot get from the vid if you guys do it this way. I can feel how from doing it this way i can respring into new direction immediately, while, if my weight is on the leg behind i feel 'planted'. Cheers!

The bottom line is, do what your teacher says. I encourage students to avoid pivoting with their weight commited to the front foot to avoid torquing the knee, which can damage the meniscus. Happy training

There are many ways to do all of this. Koichi Tohei picked up the front let. Each style has value.
