A friend of mine told me I was part of this video (I’m the first guy) and I was really shocked as I only found out I was here by pure chance. Not offended or anything of the sort, in fact I’m flattered and it is great content. It was more like the surprise and the unawareness…
Since the military, I’ve been loving my beard. Felt good to finally grow it out! At first it’s hard, due to that itchy stage and then the awkward stage. You go around looking a bit rough, but in the end, it all works out. I’m just ever so slightly weak when it comes to my beard connecting to the very top of my mustache, when compared to the rest of my beard, but it’s barely noticeable. At first, I didn’t like how wavy my beard was getting, so I tried straightening my beard and I just did NOT like the look. I like how my beard naturally curls and gets wavy at some parts and now, actually prefer it’s natural state. Beard oil, not the cheap stuff, really does help. Don’t skimp out. I bought some cheap $20 beard kit and the oil just made my face feel oily. I stepped up to a different beard kit, slight more expensive, and I was able to tell the difference right away. My *beard* felt moisturized and not my face feeling greasy or oily. I’m still growing it, to see what length I like it at and to get it to a point to where I can have a barber shape it how I want. Just grow your beard out, it takes some time, you might like what you see. If it’s not you, then cut it off. You’ll never know until you try!
@@mpat8462 Right now, I’m using Bossman. It’s only the second oil I’ve tried so far, besides that cheap generic brand. So I don’t have much experience with a bunch of oils. So far, I do like Bossman much better. Don’t know if I’m gonna try another brand or stick with it, since I like it so far. If you do opt for Bossman, just know that their beard oil is more like a liquid petroleum jelly. I like it because it doesn’t make my face feel oily and it does a good job at softening my beard. I got their “starter pack”, I guess that’s what it’s called. It comes with Beard Jelly (oil), Beard Balm, and a conditioner for the shower. They do sell a beard shampoo, in the form of a soap bar, but it’s fairly expensive. And some people say it’s pretty small for the amount you pay, though most say it’s good. Personally, I would just get their starter pack/ 3-in-1 combo pack. It’s cheaper overall, than buying the exact 3 items individually.
Guys who don't think their beard is good enough because of the underlip patch, are like guys who feel small because they compare their muscles to elite bodybuilders, not having a dense underlip growth is the norm, and not an inferior beard.
It seems like whoever selected the pictures was trying to drop a hint that they want Greg to try the bald or at least buzzed and bearded look. It could make a fun future video where Greg shaved his head for real this time and get all his family reactions on camera.
I have medium blonde hair but my beard is brown with some red in it , totally wouldn’t think I’d have a beard as dark as I do. I’m super glad it didn’t end up blonde tbh
I have sandy blonde hair on my head and I have a dark beard. If you have a light colored beard, just grow it out thicket and longer and it will look great. No need to darken it, be yourself, believe it or not, you are more unique, because there are a lot of guys with dark beards, mainly due to their race, but your beard is a heritage thing that you should always be proud of.
I had blonde hair when I was young now it’s gone dark brown and my beard is an orange Amber especially with some beard oil in there it gives it an awesome shine, I’ve been so proud of my red beard for the longest time because I find it a very unique colour on a beard
Yea i can relate a little. My beard was always dark black but last couple years its almost completely changed to a shade of orange. I have scottish and irish blood so i think thats why.
My beard started going gray/white in my mid-20s and is now mostly white. However, my head hair is still mostly dark brown and I'm now 41. I also have the bald spots under my bottom lip, with the soul patch area covered in hair, and I'm happy with that. I would not like having hair there.
Greg, what do you ask to determine a barber does a better trim than I can do ( I do a basic hedge trimming)? Received a bad trim yesterday...too short, razor burn, etc. Thanks, Rob.
I would typically go with a referral. When you seen a good beard out and about, politely ask when who his barber is--otherwise there is no way to know. Barbers are trained to do beards, but sometimes its not their best suite.
Well, there are some people who have bad beard genetics like me. Is not like i can't grow a beard, i can. But is not that good. Some people really look better without a beard. If you don't have a beard that has enough coverage in 3,4 months then your beard will do more bad than good. I think a beard is more like a hairstyle, if long hair is not for you then is not for you.
I've been trying to grow my beard and it's a little rough. My mustache grows out and not down and my mustache, neck, and chin area grow significantly faster then my sides. On top of that I have a horizontal patch line in both my cheeks right above my jaw line that doesn't really get covered. Not sure if using a derma roller with beard products would help or not. The longest I've grown it was for about 45 days before the wife couldn't handle it anymore lol. Maybe when she's on deployment I'll grow it out for the 9 months she's gone
I don't know why but when I was in my late teens early 20's I had ginger hairs in my goatee area on the sides of my goatee although I have dark brown hair , now in my 30's it's all black, no more ginger hairs but it was so visible that people would point it out like " hey man, you know you have ginger hairs in your beard, right?" 😅 Back then I couldn't grow a proper beard but had good growth in my goatee so I was rocking a big goatee with a thick chin strap , that was back when chin straps were still popular 😅

If you have a weak chin or a chin that juts out too much, a beard can fix or hide that. If you have a handsome jaw line, you'll probably be better off going clean-shaven or a light beard. If you have a long head/face, you'll want to maybe focus on the stache and sides but keep the under chin growth to a minimum.
My beard is mostly dark brown like the hair on my head. But I have some grays, blondes, redish browns hiding in there as well. Im only 26 so the grays in my beard bothers my girlfriend but I personally love them.
Some people should really shave their face. Not all people have good beard genetics and not all people look good with a beard. If you don't have enough coverage to make you look better then there is no reason for you to have a beard. If you really want a beard go get a hair implant or use minoxidil. Some people have good face genetics like me and if you don't have a good beard then most likely your beard will cover your traits and you will look uglier than you actually are. Some people really need to embrace the fact that they don't have a good beard and that is all right. You don't need a beard to look mature. You can be mature without a beard.
