Hey! Thanks for checking out this video! I spent a lot of time gathering this info, putting it together, and editing the video. I've heard the complaints about the sound effects. While I was editing with my headphones on it didn't sound too loud. However, now I know that I need to check it out with other speakers/headphones before finishing up. Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate it 💖
I don't even need cars but I desperately want Preteens as a base game update and maybe Fairies and Hotels as DLCs. It's so weird when kids grow up into teens who look exactly like young adults.
It’s a blessing and a curse 😂 I remember in my Sims 2 & 3 days, I thought the teens were too short, but now they’re too tall! They look more like 17-19 year olds; I miss when they were more like 14-16 year olds. Edit: And I miss how in Sims 2, they had their own wardrobe.
Personally I think adding pre-teens as a separate life stage this late in the game would be disastrous. They would have no content... their cas would be more bare bones than toddlers. And then each new pack that would be expected to include stuff for them which realistically would just take away from the content for all other life stages. Adding infants wasn't a big deal because they don't need that much stuff, but it would be weird for pre-teens to have less options than children. I wish that teens had been shorter and younger from the beginning but it's too late for that.
@@explorationgmer1336 also if a sim makes a family portion, picks up a plate and you tell them to call everyone to the meal and they pick up another plate (and start eating it even when you cancel it) so someone goes without 😭
Oh yeah. Just recently had a reminder of this annoyance, when I send my four-member family to eat and three of them went to eat on the living room, instead of the dining room, that is right next the kitchen. One Sim went to the dining room, though 😁 And, another time, when one of my Sims was doing dishes, I ordered him to go sleep. Instead of queing the sleep interaction after finishing dishes, he quit it, put the dishes on a toilet (of all places 😅) and went to the bed. Just great 😜

Truth is The Sims went full-greedy mode after TS3, in my opinion. The Sims 2 is still one of the best - if not THE best - of Sims series and that's because there's a lot of attention to the details.
Totally agree. Sims 3 really opened the door to even heavier monetization. It's a shame, and I'm afraid of what a "Sims 5" would look like with the current landscape of game monetization
@@CatchyCher I honestly think that the real problem isn't the in-game monetizatiom and the HUGE amount of DLCs and expansions EA released over the years. The Sims actually always had expansions and it was great for it's quality of life, bringing new mechanics and different experiences, but the problem is that as it is now they are what should have been in the base game from the start. If they were releasing new stuff with lower prices (since they have what? 100 dlcs now?) and the base game was complete enough, then we'd probably have a sweet experience with all of it. But well... Who knows what Ts5 will bring us, right? (And all the possibilities are terrifying.)
I think the sims four would’ve had the chance to be considered the best if they just put the same love into it, the base game of the sims four is nothing but eat, swim in a pool, go to work (can’t even go to work w ur sim) and repeat, the other three actually feel like they put love and soul into it and it isn’t just a “please give us money if you want something that has more than 6 hours worth of play value” and sure sims 3 had a similar money issue, but the base game is still actually worth it and can be enjoyable, the stuff in the store wasn’t a need but a “heyyyy u want some of this???” kind of like those guys that have balloons at every function for no reason
100% agree. I'm hoping that if there ever is a Sims 5, that they put the same amount of love and detail as they did for Sims 2 and then some. I miss a lot of the old interactions sims 2 had
12:53 The lack of toddlers was why when the game first came out I took one look at it and noped all the way back to my TS2 saves and mostly forgot TS4 existed for years.
I think this must have been the same for me. I remember looking into purchasing Sims 4 long before I did. I wish I'd waited about 6 months before I finally got it, as the base game became free then. 😅 Anyway, yeah, cash grabby game. Haven't updated it in years, and will not be returning to the franchise. I do enjoy playing still (no mods) and videos concerning it.
same, and I even got the base game for free back then. It was a promotional thing for a very limited amount of time. Tried it, and went back to TS3, which is still better than 4 imo.
Unpopular opinion: I actually am not eager for the next generation of the Sims. I want the Sims 4 to get the improvements and stability we deserve. I’m always so surprised by how much the Sim 4 didn’t have. I was an avid sims 2 player then didn’t play much of sims 3 and then I got into sims 4 after toddlers were added. Great video!
We've certainly invested enough money into it to deserve those improvements and stability 😂 I don't think that's too unpopular. It's kind of a trust issue at this point. Are we gonna have to go through what we have with Sims 4 with Sims 5? Are we just gonna get nickel and dimed to death all over again? Are we gonna pay them to be their beta testers again? Are we gonna have to wait another 10 years for them to finally assemble a bug team to fix all the issues EA never gave them the time, budget or QA team to catch and fix? Will it take that same 10 years to finally be able to say the base game is complete? EA did everyone SO dirty when they made them retool the base game without changing the launch date. We coulda had that completed base game and a team that wasn't constantly behind. So absolutely, they can take their sweet bippy time. None of us - players and the team alike - should have to do this all over again.
It's too late, sadly. It *has* to be a new game. Why? Because of the game engine itself. Why do you think that after *10 years,* we still have to go into that goddamn loading screen whenever we want to visit our apartment neighbor that's *literally next door to us?* Every, single, time.
4:36 Maxis aren’t the greedy ones, It’s EA. Can we stop confusing the game dev team to the most greedy publishing company please! I don’t even think Maxis would even want those monetary features. But EA process to milk them dry since 1999 after acquiring them.
yeah the thing is modern Maxis is literally not the studio they used to be. Almost no one works in Maxis that used to work on The Sims 1 and 2. Not many from The Sims 3 dev team got opportunity to work on The Sims 4 as well. Maxis and EA are equally responsible for the overall poor condition of The Sims 4 and its dlcs. It's not the same quality as The Sims 1, 2 and 3 used to be.
the game only adding a WHOLE MISSING life stage only THREE YEARS INTO the game's lifespan is the most outrageous to me. Like, that sent the game all the way back to Sims 1! Only two heights: children and adult (teens are just slightly thinner adults, same height) and NO toddlers. Actually, sims 1 had pools and cars since release!
Yeah, missing that life stage is shocking to me. It's bizarre how many things integral to the Sims experience (life stages, POOLS, etc) were just missing
@@AnywhereMiami that was on release tho, no supporting there... we were all doe eyed, still hopeful of the seemingly bright future for the franchise...
God how I wish could go have the "open neighbourhoods" thing. Like, I think everyone knows that a full open world would be impossible, and it was fairly controversial in TS3 in the first place due to how laggy it could be (not to mention kinda non-practical imo), but not having to see a loading screen to go the house RIGHT NEXT TO YOURS that is already loaded from the outside is not too much to ask. I think we should keep talking about it until one day EA manages to add it.
@@JELea-wc6re I'm pretty sure it's this. Part of the reason TS4 is so popular is that you can play it on a MacBook or something so they try to avoid adding really resource-intensive features
Coming exclusively from ts2, I thought I wouldn't be this bothered by the loading screen for every lot thing. I was wrong. Mostly because noticing there can be?? Up to THREE?? Loading phases?? Drives me nuts. It takes too long to load for what it is (basegame + console) and it's severely impacted my patience when I know that once it loads, I'll still have to deal with all the lag and regular ts4 shenanigans and lackluster everything. Additionally the minimalistic menu artstyle is just so plain and corporate and gross for it, I hate looking at it any second longer than I have to.
I could be wrong but I remember it being a lot easier to keep Sims on track in 2014. Now whenever I have a Sim leave the house they're immediately bombarded by conversations with random strangers they've never interacted with. Sometimes they'll walk across the entire zone to talk to someone I never told them to talk to. Every community lot is just unbridled mayhem, to the point where it's nearly impossible sometimes to do something as simple as order a drink at the bar because random strangers keep trying to inject themselves into my life and override my command to order a drink.
FR! I first started playing in 2017 and was pretty satisfied with being able to manage all my sims without going crazy. I came back to the game around 2023 and it's a mess of having to cancel dozens of interactions. They're constantly picking up house decorations, walking across the whole house just to turn on music or start working out. They seem to be prioritizing they're actions over mine. And dont even get me started on any interactions with toddlers or infants...
@@name3lesskatttti cannot tell u how insanely frustrated i feel when both my adult sims absolutely trip over themselves to tend to their crying infant. just completely overriding whatever i’ve told them to do... getting out of bed in the middle of the night, stopping cooking mid-way thru, completely running away from conversations. it’s the most infuriating thing and makes me half-dread having infants/toddlers in the household

10:39 the hair swatch update frustrates me so much! randomly some hairs don’t have the same colours, and when i choose a newer one and use an older hair on a different outfit, it always makes them blonde! it’s so weird
I'd love removal of loading screens too, but the game still chugs the FPS for the silliest thing's. I'd like them to fix the performance above all else.
10 years later, the game performs even worse than it did at launch. I recorded the 2014 footage on an old laptop, and the game ran shockingly better on there than it does on my gaming PC. This game needs some serious optimization!
@@CatchyCher Who do you optimise it for? It's a simple thing to say, but there are plenty of different perspectives. The Sims has always been an interesting franchise because it attracts atypical gamers. If you try too hard to target the gaming audience, it might make the game worse for the older PCs that many people play on
@@CatchyCherMy game runs locked at 165fps and it is usually right at that, but random things like notification popups will cause the fps to tank for a second. Very bizarre. Sometimes scrolling around the world will feel super choppy, but the games fps counter will say it's at 165, which makes no sense.
@@journeytreeLiterally. My game runs the same amount of FPS without shaders and with, which isn’t the case for ANY game, which runs much better in vanilla. The VANILLA core of the Sims 4 is lag-filled and buggy.
@@neilbiggs1353 1. At this point there's no reason a game should be held back because Simone's 2015 computer can't play it. It's never been the case for the Sims either (Sims 2 and 3 weren't really for low spec commuters) But there no Reason why the next Sims game can't be open world with minimal loading screens.
Infants and toddlers are still so bugged. I had 4 infants and it was impossible becuase of how often interactions would just cancel. It took 6 in game hours to change one diaper. Its terrible. Replayed the sims 2 - easy, big household worked out well
The reason why the game was missing core features was because it was planned to be online kind of like the sims online but due to the failure of that they decided to scrap the idea and remade the sims 4 from scratch Due to the deadline being around the time they scrapped the original idea they had to rush it out Thats also the reason why there is not a open world as it would have taken time to program it, thats also why the map wasn't fully done on launch and was gray until you hovered over the neighborhood (This info comes from tons of videos but if there false let me know and I will edit it)
Actually the online aspect was scrapped because of SimCity 2013's failure, not the Sims online. But it's just crazy to think that after THREE SEPERATE FAILED ATTEMPTS to bring the sims online they're trying a FOURTH time with Project Rene by making it an online multiplayer. Like do they not learn?
Watching a Let's Play by James Turner about 8 years ago, there were so many things he wished were in the game that we now can do. You couldn't lock doors to keep Sims out of a space. Removing the door wasn't a perfect substitute.

It's so crazy to me to see how much Sims 4 has changed in 10 years. And at the same time it hurts how long it's been running with never truly feeling complete. With every dlc for the past installments they improved the features or added new ones. Sims 4 simply improves old features while doing the least amount of work. Like how many animations or meshes have been reused? At this time us players have funded that game more than EA itself
15:20 this advertisement has me imagining the sims team picking out poc with the most basic hairstyles just so they could look inclusive when really poc hairstyles are still severely lacking lmao
It’s good to remember how far we’ve come since 2014, but we still have some glaring issues left. I’ve been yearning for the ability to choose the secondary dye color/hair accessory color independent from hair color for YEARS. Why do I have to have black hair if I want my sim to have blue dye in their hair? Why can’t I choose a silver hair clip if my sim has blonde hair? I miss you, sims 3 color wheels… but honestly mostly on this and bb objects like beds where I want a different bedspread with a different frame
firefighters are buggy as hell too. my sim would catch on fire and theyd just STAND OUTSIDE? and when my sim takes the fire out themselves theyd either say “my job here is done” or smth or “you look like you dont need help” or smth.. YOU DIDNT DO ANYTHING?
I get it. I didn't play it really for so long but you still have some kind of attachment to your creations and their stories...😅 Well, with the new dlc we can have funerals and move on 😂 jk
@@CatchyCher I wishhh I played sims 3 from like 7yrs old after watching my brother play it and moved onto sims 4 after it came out (with my bros guidance ofc bc I didn’t quite understand it on my own)
This was a lot of fun to watch, especially since I only started the game in 2020 and missed a lot of the early bare-bones days. Though I have a little constructive criticism. As someone with sensory issues the loud clack every time you mentioned an item on a list was jarring and a little painful.
Thank you so much for telling me that! I noticed I may have gone a little overboard with the sound effects on this one. I've been hearing from other people the same feedback, and knowing that it could be causing sensory issues is something I will keep in the back of my mind going forward!
10:22 you know honestly it’s really great that they finally added this because do you know how people complain about the same thing with Netflix that you spend hours looking for something and you just end up not watching anything or for a really short period? I always felt the same thing with the Sims in cas. Sometimes it will be so exhausting to just create a Sim because of these issues and it will take me hours to create a family because I had to copy certain things to other outfits without the copy mode so everything will take so long in total, then finally when I was finished, I would not even be motivated enough to actually play the live mode game. Mind you when I say that it will take hours I wasn’t even creating any fantasy Sims or special character characters for a fantasy game. It will just be regular normal looking Sims that will take hours.
The 2014 game and the 2024 game feel so disconnected from each other, like, theres no comparing on how different they are. It's sad coz the older games def feel like a step back to the time where all the old stuff was new and relevant. But the sims 4 is just on different universes, CC, community and gameplay wise comparing it with early era to recent era.
Sims 4 is simultaneously the most stable and unstable game, imo. On one hand, it loads pretty well and performance-wise I have so little issues. When I played TS3 I only had like 2 or 3 Expansion Packs but the loading would take somewhere between 5-7 minutes! On TS4 it loads in about 1m30s on a bad day. On the other hand, the current build of TS4 has an issue where you can just have save issues and you HAVE to create a brand new save file completely everytime you want to save.
Wait wait, Sims 4 came out on September 2nd? Oh my. I just started playing The Sims 4 a little after midnight on September 2nd 2024, which was last night as of this writing. I had no idea I started playing it on the exact 10th anniversary date, that’s wild :O I never played any of the other games except some from the My Sims series. The Sims was never a series on my radar until a bit recently, when I saw it floating around. I saw it was free to play and decided to give it a try. I’ve slowly been learning about all the differences and how TS2/TS3 are vastly superior. Watching videos of all the differences is really interesting. It truly has been evolving backwards but I’m glad I could at least try TS4 for free.
That's wild! Let me start off by welcoming you to the Sims 4 community. While we may complain a lot, and have a lot of suggestions and wants for the franchise, it's only because we want what's best for it. There is a lot to love for the franchise, especially for a newcomer. I hope that you're enjoying your experience so far and I highly recommend giving TS2 or TS3 a shot in the future!
@@CatchyCher Thank you for the welcome! I am enjoying quite a bit so far (I played 4-5 hours straight already on my first session, haha). I’ll definitely try out the past installments in the future too ;) and yes it does seem like this community is very critical about TS4 but it is done out of passion, not just unnecessary whining. That’s good to see.
in less than one minute ( 0:50 - 1:50 ) you used, what i counted was, 20 DIFFERENT sound effects, all the random effects make it really difficult its like ASMR loud in ear effects like the page turning when a book pops up, a keyboard click when a pc shows up, the little ding noises, a click noise when text shows up? like it's SO much editing and it's so much louder than your mic 😰as someone with misophonia i can't watch this at all
I don't want Sims 5, so I'm not ready for something new. There is so much to Sims 4 that I haven't played, so I'm not ready for them to quit updating 4 and move on to another more expensive gaming experience. I'm good with it the way it is. I'm not interested in starting over buying one pack at a time and not being able to do much. Everything I have heard about Sims 5 makes me not want it. You might want that, but I wouldn't say that everyone does.
I went back to sims 3 and it genuinely makes me so sad we don’t have an open world anymore. It was really fun to scroll around see your friends houses and some venues would have events going on you could participate in. I’m sure that would be way more complicated with the sims 4 in some way but idk feels like they just skimped out on that Though I do remember the sims 3 not performing very well FPS wise but I think that’s just my computer
I hate the social wheel. It changes more the seconds hand on a clock. I don't want to keep looking for conversation choices while it changes positions during a conversation. The gardening wheel is just as bad. Even the interactions for babies and infants keep changing positions. Baby care is on the first page one time and on the second page the second time I access it. What's the point of these things jumping all over the place? Is this a message from Maxis that they are unstable, by showing us that this is unstable? Not only do I need to deal with this insanity, but my sim can't sit still for one second while I engage them in a conversation. I thought that I was supposed to build a life through them, not them jumping all over the place like nervous people in an insane asylum. It's frustrating enough dealing with a sim that needs to urinate every five minutes. I barely have enough time to build a portion of a skill in one day. LOL. This game used to be very enjoyable, not it's more like a broken insane asylum where the patiences are running the asylum. Then add in the bugs and glitches, and forget about it. LOL.
i really appreciate the research put into this video! one thing though. for future videos i would advise to not abuse the 'click' sound effect. it becomes really grating when it happens almost every second 8:53
as far as the main menu is concerned, the most recent one is my favorite by far. as a ps4 player with a lot of packs, it can take a really long time to load in, so being able to click resume is sooo convenient
I was always a sims hardcore player but I remember when the sims 4 came out, a girl at my job was telling me you couldn’t have toddlers or ghost or pools, I didn’t play it for 3 years after I heard that lol but I do enjoy it now but holy crap this video shows how bad the sims was on launch smh
The last game my mom bought me was Sims 4 in 2014 on our last chirstmas together. I begged her for it🤣😭 She took her life in January of 2015, but I still have her sim 😔.
The difference between a baby and an infant is only a few months to a year, but it is a real life stage, so okay. But even the infants are broken. The parents will get stuck in a loop where they pick up the infant and put them down, over and over. It's a cute life stage, and it exists in real life, but it's broken. LOL.
They are for sure greedy, but the game in 2024 compared to the game in 2014 is a HUGE improvement. There is obviously still issues and things I want improved, and of course not everyone can get all the packs. (You can literally just pirate them all for like 20 bucks using various websites online btw) But if you have all of them, the game really is fun and addicting to me in the current version.
I don’t know if because I’ve only really played the sims 4 but I prefer it to the others and definitely don’t see a much difference. And things like loading screen don’t bother me that much. I do play sims 3 and feel like they have similar amount of things to do and stuff, I get quite overwhelmed in sims 3 tbh
The Day of the Dead and Plant Sim challenges should be brought back as seasonal scenarios. Day of the Dead from October 1 - November 2. Plant Sim challenge from April 1 - May 31.
I feel like all i need is a preteen life stage, get rid of loading screens when youre literally going to the lot next door , and a romance/friendship bar that dosent have to be mutual
Omg 😳 I grew up playing sims2 and 3 and I only started playing sims4 in 2023 and seeing this video is a shocker to me 😭 how the hell was the game missing so much stuff ? 😭 I'm actually glad that I didn't play the game in the early or in progress stages lmao 😂
You forgot the DX11 option they added recently for Windows players. And it still doesn't work right. But it's there and hopefully, they will improve it and eventually, it will be better than DX9 which was already outdated even back in 2014.
Best main menu scene 2017 frfr. Maybe I’m biased because I got the game legally in 2017 with the toddlers update (used to pirate it before), but the 2017 main menu just hits different.
Recently I've tried to move lots and it's broken again. The different shaped roof don't really fit the rooms below them. There's still more broken stuff than enjoyable features. Saying that Maxis is greedy is an understatement. Now that I think of it? It's seems like desperation. But they are burying themselves, because they keep creating new content, but not really fixing or listening to the fans. Then add things that distract the players from enjoying the game, like the selling button in the top right corner. If they are trying to get me to purchase stuff, I haven't purchased anything since I saw the mess that they were turning the game into. LOL.
I could care less about how the main looks. I only want the game play to work consistently and make sense. Some examples are When playing a household in the cooking or military career, and I move the household, the game doesn't take away my rewards. Like the special counters and medals. When in the doctor career, my gets the ability to tell the gender of a pregnant sims baby, but it can only be used at the hospital while being on duty. What pregnant sim is going to care about the gender of their baby while in labor. I've seen real women in labor, and they could care less about the baby's gender. How about the Wedding Stories DLC? Pre-order a wedding cake from the store and it doesn't show at the wedding, sims come dressed in their underwear, sims won't watch the ceremony, cutting of the cake. And there's always another sim hitting on one of the newlyweds. It can be funny once in a while, but not every time. How about the fabrication machine that constantly eats my sim so much that my sim can't build the skill. It's more frustrating than fun. I could go on for days, but I posted my frustration on EA Games Answers HQ, and they didn't listen so there's no point to continue my rant. LOL. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the Sims 4, it's has beautiful artwork, but it's broken and badly thought-out.
I hope they got Official Sim Height Sliders and Animations expansion which is super crucial , Needs decay speed slowers (I'm Ok with the decay but the decay speed compare to real world is insanely fast) and NPC Appearance Modifiers (Most NPC is utterly unsatisfying)
I miss the main menu from 2017, where you could immediately see all the packs you owned, which I found quite appealing :) Sims 4 has disappointed me on many levels and is now just a placeholder until Paralives comes out. Hopefully, EA realizes with Inzoi and Paralives what their players truly want.

I think the sims four would’ve had the chance to be considered the best if they just put the same love into it, the base game of the sims four is nothing but eat, swim in a pool, go to work (can’t even go to work w ur sim) and repeat, the other three actually feel like they put love and soul into it and it isn’t just a “please give us money if you want something that has more than 6 hours worth of play value”
and sure sims 3 had a similar money issue, but the base game is still actually worth it and can be enjoyable, the stuff in the store wasn’t a need but a “heyyyy u want some of this???” kind of like those guys that have balloons at every function for no reason
Me too, I bought it 3 years later 😅
@@libera7161 Six for me. I bought the base game in July 2020.
We've certainly invested enough money into it to deserve those improvements and stability 😂
I don't think that's too unpopular.
Yeah, same. I dont want them to milk the franchise more. They have proven their interests
It's too late, sadly. It *has* to be a new game.
Why? Because of the game engine itself.
Why do you think that after *10 years,* we still have to go into that goddamn loading screen whenever we want to visit our apartment neighbor that's *literally next door to us?* Every, single, time.
wellllllll now you don’t have to wait for the next gen Sims game……
@@theyoutubersfromdenmark8143 things changed fast 😂
4:36 Maxis aren’t the greedy ones, It’s EA. Can we stop confusing the game dev team to the most greedy publishing company please! I don’t even think Maxis would even want those monetary features. But EA process to milk them dry since 1999 after acquiring them.
I don't think it's as clear cut as that. Maxis (the higher ups at least) chose to sell their company to EA.
Maxis is trash.
The original Maxis employees are long gone, they've left or got fired and have been replace by EA shills, so yes its now Maxis too
yeah the thing is modern Maxis is literally not the studio they used to be.
@@CatchyCherits not really bizarre, you guys are supporting such system, you put up with whatever they do and spend hundreds on each game
Sims 1 did have pools but cars was Sims 2
it also had ambition, quality and quantity of content, spice and love.
This could also have something to do with system requirements. Not sure of course, but possible it isn't just a coding related thing.
@@Depressed_Dandelionright!! I don’t mind the loading screens in TS2 because they’re usually pretty quick, TS4 seems to take FOREVER to load.
I miss the 2019 menu so bad. It was nice to be able to see all of the dlcs in one spot and not be bombarded with all sorts of icons
It's never been the case for the Sims either (Sims 2 and 3 weren't really for low spec commuters)
But there no Reason why the next Sims game can't be open world with minimal loading screens.
Infants and toddlers are still so bugged. I had 4 infants and it was impossible becuase of how often interactions would just cancel. It took 6 in game hours to change one diaper. Its terrible. Replayed the sims 2 - easy, big household worked out well
I stopped playing because of that. The game doesn't recognize toddlers'wants. So they cannot be fulfilled.
The reason why the game was missing core features was because it was planned to be online kind of like the sims online
but due to the failure of that they decided to scrap the idea and remade the sims 4 from scratch
Due to the deadline being around the time they scrapped the original idea they had to rush it out
Thats also the reason why there is not a open world as it would have taken time to program it, thats also why the map wasn't fully done on launch and was gray until you hovered over the neighborhood
(This info comes from tons of videos but if there false let me know and I will edit it)
I heard it was scrapped because of SimCity’s failure!
I dont understand why they dont make animations for example when you cook like in sims 2 and 3 in 10 years, its so crazy to me
15:20 this advertisement has me imagining the sims team picking out poc with the most basic hairstyles just so they could look inclusive when really poc hairstyles are still severely lacking lmao

Bottom line: There was only going up, yet the mountain keeps getting taller because the sea level keeps dropping
2017 and 2019 main menus were my favorite. Able to see all of the packs without changing screens
firefighters are buggy as hell too. my sim would catch on fire and theyd just STAND OUTSIDE? and when my sim takes the fire out themselves theyd either say “my job here is done” or smth or “you look like you dont need help” or smth.. YOU DIDNT DO ANYTHING?
This has been the longest run a Sims game has had. We should’ve already been on Sims 5.
unfortunately, the sims 5 will never exist.
I’m not ready for Sims 4 to go yet I’m still waiting on it to be fixed.
Lol 😂
I get it. I didn't play it really for so long but you still have some kind of attachment to your creations and their stories...😅
Well, with the new dlc we can have funerals and move on 😂 jk
this video makes me feel so old as I started playing on xbox as soon as it came out and it feels like the updates were yesterday
I felt so old making this video. It was rough 😔
I played The Sims 1 few months after premiere and you feel old?😂
I was nearly 3 years old when Sims 1 came out so perhaps you have a few more years on me 🤣🤣
@@CatchyCher I wishhh I played sims 3 from like 7yrs old after watching my brother play it and moved onto sims 4 after it came out (with my bros guidance ofc bc I didn’t quite understand it on my own)

I like the 2019 menu the most, it felt satisfying seeing all those little pack icons
I totally agree!!
@@CatchyCher Thanks, I appreciate it!
You know what would have been crazy? Having added thieves and cars 🤭
It is insane to me that so many things that should have been base game weren't!! but i do love seeing all the changes, esp the tinier changes !!
I agree. It is insane. It makes me wonder what they'll leave out of Sims 5 and add in with DLC
As someone who started playing this game a few months after the release (I remember there weren't pools yet lol), damn this hits
2017 main menu is my jam.. I kinda stopped playing post 2022 aside from build challenges.
So cool! It's so much better now. 😂😊
in less than one minute ( 0:50 - 1:50 ) you used, what i counted was, 20 DIFFERENT sound effects, all the random effects make it really difficult its like ASMR loud in ear effects like the page turning when a book pops up, a keyboard click when a pc shows up, the little ding noises, a click noise when text shows up? like it's SO much editing and it's so much louder than your mic 😰as someone with misophonia i can't watch this at all
I don't want Sims 5, so I'm not ready for something new.
2:45 I stared playing sims in 2020 but remember the loading screen from 2019 cause I started playing it like march
wow this game is old yet still glitchy
i come from the future
“the ghosts aren’t really anything special”
they heard you
and they’re fixing it
02:47 the 2019 was the best possible menu for me
I went back to sims 3 and it genuinely makes me so sad we don’t have an open world anymore. It was really fun to scroll around see your friends houses and some venues would have events going on you could participate in. I’m sure that would be way more complicated with the sims 4 in some way but idk feels like they just skimped out on that
Though I do remember the sims 3 not performing very well FPS wise but I think that’s just my computer
LOL.
you can turn off the social wheel in settings
With the main menu, I think my favorite was either 2017 or 2019 but that might be because that's when I still enjoyed playing the game lol.
All the added careers, go to work, and work at home options
i really appreciate the research put into this video! one thing though. for future videos i would advise to not abuse the 'click' sound effect. it becomes really grating when it happens almost every second 8:53
as far as the main menu is concerned, the most recent one is my favorite by far. as a ps4 player with a lot of packs, it can take a really long time to load in, so being able to click resume is sooo convenient
i kinda like 2019 and 2020 the most
hearing that some of these updates were like 3-4 years ago is INSANE!!!!!
The colourless map screen was wow, no wonder people get disappointed. Looks unfinished. Not sure if it's intentional.
adding Castiel when you would say 'cas' was genius 😭
The last game my mom bought me was Sims 4 in 2014 on our last chirstmas together.
I begged her for it🤣😭
She took her life in January of 2015, but I still have her sim 😔.
Damn bro
why does castiel make me laugh every time 😭
Dam my first time ever playing the Sims was a decade in exactly
oh my goodness, the main menu for 2015 and especially 2017 brought back so many memories!
The sims 3 didn’t include a base game diving board until it was patched in with the seasons expansion, actually
I just started playing this year. I had noooo idea how bare this game was on release
I love how you put up a picture of Castiel every time you said CAS 😭😭😭
I don’t know if because I’ve only really played the sims 4 but I prefer it to the others and definitely don’t see a much difference. And things like loading screen don’t bother me that much. I do play sims 3 and feel like they have similar amount of things to do and stuff, I get quite overwhelmed in sims 3 tbh
The game is lacking…. Without burglars sims would not be the sims
Agree!! Burglars need to always be in The Sims base games
Yes, childhood memories are coming back ❤@CatchyCher hoping sims 5 would be more realistic
I loved the 2020 menu screen, simply because I spent so much time on Sims 4 during the lockdown
The 2015 loading screen was so iconic
We have come a long way and it's still not right!! thank you for what you do!!👏👏🌹🌹❤❤
You forgot the DX11 option they added recently for Windows players. And it still doesn't work right. But it's there and hopefully, they will improve it and eventually, it will be better than DX9 which was already outdated even back in 2014.
Am I the only one who loves how the world selection looked in 2014? It looked interesting
I wasn't a big fan of that, but I do miss how all the expansions and packs looked on the older menus 😕
@@CatchyCher Same here! It had some personality, now the menu looks cheap :/
Best main menu scene 2017 frfr. Maybe I’m biased because I got the game legally in 2017 with the toddlers update (used to pirate it before), but the 2017 main menu just hits different.
Catchy, Youre gonna blow up!

They also added repo man!

I hope they got Official Sim Height Sliders and Animations expansion which is super crucial , Needs decay speed slowers (I'm Ok with the decay but the decay speed compare to real world is insanely fast) and NPC Appearance Modifiers (Most NPC is utterly unsatisfying)
I liked the menus that didn't desperately try to sell you everything and clutter up the space with dull-as-rocks scenarios.
A new thing they have added is DirectX 11 API Graphics, It's made my moded game run faster 👍
You can kind interact with the map more walking around.
i experienced all main menu iterations and 2019 was the best imo
I miss the main menu from 2017, where you could immediately see all the packs you owned, which I found quite appealing :) Sims 4 has disappointed me on many levels and is now just a placeholder until Paralives comes out. Hopefully, EA realizes with Inzoi and Paralives what their players truly want.
