I think even if you're an experienced pilot, Heathrow must be daunting and exciting in equal measure. Great video and exceptional professionalism from the crew. Thanks JP!
Heathrow is very busy, requiring holding at times. It is first and foremost a busy place where pilots must pay attention so as to not need a go around. After one has landed and taxied to their gate, perhaps then a pilot could reflect on properly flown his approach, made a safe landing, and used taxiways to move about the field. Recently, some truly foolish voters rejected constructing a third runway north side of the airport. Short sighted and short of reality were those officials and voters.
What a fantastic flight, with a fantastic view of what happens in the cockpit. Nothing but total professionals it is amazing the training you go through. And I definitely have to add you don't get paid enough. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.
This is what aviation has evolved into during the first 100 years since the Wright brothers. Imagine what a plane will look like in a hundred years from now.
Looks like the Concorde or a replica @13.45 out off the rightside nose of the plane... Nice landing what a buzz... Why didn't I follow my little boy dreams of becoming a pilot when I was a young laddy. Bloody hell London Heathrow... I hope I get to see you one day.
Come on, Uber drivers have to earn their tips!! At least Icelandair haven't got the Concorde worry of "Breakfast in London...Lunch in New York...baggage in Bahrain" like some airlines!
@@inwithsliminwithjim3416 I agree too. Why can't you show us the runway in final approach instead of showing the face of the co-pilot and then changing to the back of the pilots without any sight out of the windows at all. Useless video... Appreciating your efforts though...
Nitin SR suppose I’m the only passenger on a 747 and the entire crew goes on strike. We only have enough fuel for one attempt at Heathrow. Ever think of that?
@@dudley5658 I think of it often, between counting the Lottery jackpots I've won using the numbers found in a pot at the end of a rainbow, and giving my acceptance speeches at the award of my third Nobel Peace Prize in a row!!

They didn't need documents or vaccinations or visas. They just set sail following the stars and landmarks here and there. May be dolphins guide them too.
I'll tell you what happened, the plane glided onto the runway, and the wheels touched down, followed by taxing to the main terminal, dinner at Max Maximum Steakhouse, sleepover at the Hilton, and then Takeoff the next day, so you didn't really miss anything...
Off-topic question: are there many airlines or other companies that hire pilots with well-groomed (short) beards? I'm on my way to take my first into becoming a pilot, but before I get too deep into it I want to know what the chances of keeping my facial hair are. Again, I don't necessarily want to fly with airlines, but it'd be my preference.
It indicates, presumably to maintenance, that that type of brake is installed on the aircraft. Carbon brakes are those constructed out of carbon fiber materials and can be up to 40% lighter than conventional brakes, allowing for increased fuel efficiency. In this example too this is a relatively old aircraft, the 767, so there likely has been some process of retrofitting and replacing the older, more traditional steel brakes.
Carbon brakes have more effectiveness and wear a lot less when they’re hot (350C) vs cooler brake temperatures. To optimize carbon brake life different pilot techniques are needed.
virtually no technical information from this channel. no idea what direction or altitude that this plane is flying at. they don't show where they are relating to the airport either.
@@owenfitzpatrick2727 I have landed there as a pax a few times and also seen the long queue on finals, but when you see it from the pilot's perspective, it's amazing. Those ATC guys earn their money.

What an absolute OG that Captain is, talking about the Viking ship builders. Would love you fly with him, bet he's full of awesome stories 👍
Yes super cool pilot! 👍
If only the Vikings had had power tools !
Man I went to London in July and I cannot wait to go back in May. I love London

Loved the viking ship builders reference from the captain at the end! Thank you for the video.
excellent poise and touch to controls.Confidently greased in and great boost for the rapid exit.Well done ya Vikings!
JFK controllers take note - this is how you manage busy and complex airspace without having a tantrum every 5 minutes!
LOL
they're fine as long as you don't take their snark and impatience personally 😂
What an airport !! ... I'm guessing that landing there might not be the biggest challenge . My god ... so much respect for these pilots .

That FO is SMOKING HOT!
Agree 100%
Smoking is no longer allowed on board!
Beautiful after landing observations by flight officer. 👍😍
What skill - just amazing!
That was a great view of the runway 13.51, would love to have seen the full landing from this viewpoint
Beautiful landing! Excellent video JP

Brilliant video . . . . thank you Vikings! 😎👍✔😎👍✔

These videos are super cool - I always wonder what the view looks like from the cockpit whilst sat in the back as a passenger!
First class landing, absolutely first class 👏👍

Of course they will not show you the landings. They want you to buy the full version.
I wonder if that aircraft has carbon brakes installed?
Yes it did, was labeled so on the cockpit display.
Excellent video very enjoyable
Nice view. I thought he pulled the throttles back quite a bit early in the video!
the vectoring on this arrival is interesting
As a Norwegian by ancestry thanks for the Viking history lesson Capt’
They would not " land " their boats. They might have to take smaller boats to take them to the shore.

Why did the EGPWS only call out at 10 AGL?
Fascinating
Were throttles auto write up to minimums?
No, he turned off both the autopilot and autothrottle at 500ft (radio altitude), just as the Germanwings aircraft vacated the runway.

Much respect for the Vikings, Scandinavia and Iceland. Glad I’ve got some Viking heritage!
If co pilot aka first officer lands the plane why does the pilot always take over to bring it to the gate?
Often the tiller to steer on the ground is only on the left side.
