Love the S&B tank on my Stealth. I have found that I can use the "Hey, Mercedes" feature to ask the van how many more miles I can drive. I then double that number. It's been a fairly accurate system over the past year or so. I also save up grocery store point and then will fill the tank at 50-60 cents off per gallon (or at least up to $125 worth of fuel). When filled, that gauge will "hang high".
I love my ARB 49 gallon tank. I had installed during the build. Agile Offroad has a module add-on so that your sprinter will accurately read the larger tank level and mileage estimate (instead of having to do math).
A large fuel tank gives the freedom of long distance traveling. I live in frankfurt, germany and my new sprinter-tourer came with a 53 gallon (200 Liter) fuel tank, that gives me 1750 miles of range on the paper and 1400 miles in reality, incl. having sometimes the webasto diesel heater running. 😊
We’ve got a 170L / 45 gallon fuel tank and it’s awesome! Our PR is a $210 refill which wasn’t so awesome. We reset the odometer each time and use 600 miles as our benchmark to start looking for fuel. I’ve learned to appreciate the GasBuddy app!
Can you install a longer pickup for the diesel heater? It would suck to rub out of heat if you were in a situation where you were forced to burn your tank down
This will be an epic upgrade for off highway excursions too. I’m located really close to the WA / ID border. I work even closer to the border (5 miles). I’ve started fueling up in Idaho. Gas and diesel are both about 30 cents cheaper in Idaho.
I had the same heater issue on my Revel 40 gallon tank. Spent a cold night before I figured out that I had driven too far. Couldn’t S&B come up with a small side tank for the Espar heater to run off which is filled up whenever the main tank is filled up. I’m thinking as small as 2 gallons which would give you heater fuel for days and not limit how low you can run the main tank down before the heater stops.
@@TalonSei I’ll look into extending the pickup down a little. I figured that mine cut off fuel at about 15 gallons out of the 40 gallons which is a huge cushion since the heater may use a quart of fuel a night to heat the van. FYI, I figured that at some point you would switch to the storyteller after your review of the two campers side by side. My Revel is great when I travel by myself, but with the wife it (she) has issues with space. I’m sure the two of you will find the storyteller a better setup, especially on long trips. Great channel, thanks for doing it.
Thanks for the update. I’m going to have to learn more about the details. Was sitting in a STO at La Mesa and had a lot of quality time to sit in it alone. I found the original Mercedes window sticker and it finally dawned on my that “J51” is a MB option code for auxiliary fuel tank support. So this raises several questions for me… Clearly MB has prepped the Sprinter for a larger tank. Do they sell an MB branded higher capacity tank? Or do they simply allow for third party vendors to supply them? What I don’t understand is that if you have J51 on your van, why don’t all of the fuel related functions work? Seems like the fuel gauge does, but something more is required for the trip computer range calculation. And what is exactly involved to get range to empty to work if your van has the J51 option? Is it simply configuration an option somewhere? Is this a configuration accessible by users? Or do you need some special tooling/computer to enable the configuration?
I've been away from the channel for a bit I didn't even know you sold your other one Can you link the video to that I'm interested in how that process went
What size tires are currently on your build? Pretty amazing how much potential it opens up just to simply have more range. Totally worth it in my opinion 🤙
Talon. I missed it. I’ve been watching all of these Storyteller vids but I haven’t seen what you’ve done with the SatVan? Did you trade it? Sell it? Keep it? Hmm???
I’m sure it does in a technical sense but I doubt it’s significant, at least compared to other factors. The difference in volume between this larger tank and the stock tank is (iirc) a bit less than 20 gallons. The weight of that additional fluid would be around 160 lbs; so roughly the difference between having a passenger in the van or not. A passenger who gets progressively lighter over the course of the trip :).
What If I told you that you could sell shitty energy drinks and if you rope your friends into doing the same then the company will give ME a rental bmw to use and flex with!? Interested? 😂
Need to keep in mind to ALWAYS maintain at least a 1/4 tank of fuel at all times and no less. Once the vehicle is either in a steep decent or uphill climb, you may run out of fuel. Happened to me. Best to leave the original alone and go with an auxiliary one instead.
I never imagined I'd watch a video about a fuel tank but here we are. 👍🏻
Super useful upgrade for those extra long trips through no man's land. Thanks for sharing.
That's a bad ass upgrade. Almost big enough to make it across Texas the long way
Anything to get me through drives like that faster 😂
Talon glad hear how your mod is going, the info is well received.

Dang. Too bad I missed you passing through AZ! Maybe next time. Keep up the dope content bro I’ve been watching every upload!
Thanks man! I passed through quick but I’ll be back April 17-19

It’s a little different for the new AWD platform. S&B will release an update so the miles til empty will read it correctly soon

Wow that’s pretty crazy haha

Agile installed the 47 fuel tank in my Storyteller. It’s truly a great addition. Unfortunately my diesel heater did not work under 1/4 tank.
Great upgrade!

That goes a long way especially when you can hold so much.
Awesome cool video
Seems well worth it.
How much was the cost with installation? I just made a whole in mine when putting in the flooring L track. I might as well Upgrade the tank. Thanks.
Muy buena idea, necesito algo asi para ir a dar la vuelta en Cali, asi no tengo que pagar tanta lana por gas o diesel en California.

You could extend the pick up a little, it’s really like that for a reason tho. Don’t want to wake up on E after running the heater for a long time.

Talent sei do you deliver to the United Kingdom, please advise
Sorry only USA right now

You can find my full build list on my website now 🤘🏼 seiproductions.com/seigarage
@@TalonSei BAM! Even better, thanks! 🤙
How much did it cost to install and how long was the install?
45min to an hour at any competent shop. Install will depend on their rate 👍🏻
What do you mean they release update? Who releases update? How to release the update? Is it a manual process?
S&B it will be a computer update
Sheeeeesh that gas bill made my credit card run away 😂😂
Talon. I missed it. I’ve been watching all of these Storyteller vids but I haven’t seen what you’ve done with the SatVan? Did you trade it? Sell it? Keep it? Hmm???
Haven’t done anything with it yet. Might rent it, if not… sell it.
Nice range! I see you're wearing a new watch. Bail on the Apple Watch Ultra already?
I like to mix it up
Epic
does the added weight effect the MPG at all?
Any weight added to a vehicle will effect it slightly, not enough in this case to notice much of a difference
@@TalonSei seeet! looking into a long range tank for my taco now…

The added weight is roughly equivalent to adding a teenager to your van, but without any extra stress.
Could you do it yourself? (large tank mod)
If you have the tools, yes.
That opening sounded like a pyramid scheme. 😂😂😂

Agiles ACGB alum 48.9 gallon tank is also a contender plus a 28 gaLLON TANK IN PLACE OF THE SPARE TIRE.....THAT WILL GET YOU OVER 1,000 MILES PLUS.
"Distance to Empty calculation, not /quite/ as accurate..." 😄
Contact renntech they can upgrade the ECU to reflect the new tank.
Mail me some gas please, it's too expensive here.
bro why aren't you on rumble. youtube is woke and clearly halting your growth.
My understanding is you know range is 2x what dash says. Any comments?
it's sad to see how cheap and basic the undercarriage of that van is when you know you paid 175K for it.
What is cheap about it?
American fuel is so cheap 😭
700 Miles / 45 gallons = 15.5 miles/gallon on your AWD? My 4x4 storyteller gives 12 miles/gallon, wtf
I wouldn't own a van without a shower. Just me.....
This van has a full shower.
