- Here I will be running through the steps on how to make a smoke house. Perfect for smoking fish, meat and anything else you want to infuse for a smokey flavour. Making a homemade smoker has never been easier. Also a perfect feature to add to the garden. Update (Don't use OSB in the build)

Great video, it looks awesome. I’d be a little worried about the glue in the OSB.
Thanks for the comment. Do you think it will burn off after a while?
Have you used it yet? If not I would run a couple hot fires in there to seal it in with smoke. I would hope that works cause you did a great job and I wouldn’t want to see it wasted.
I thought the same thing
The glue used within the chipboard I would be worried about tainting the taste of the meat as well as possibly being toxic when heated
Right! Or the chemicals in the fire board. I wouldn’t eat out of that. Cancer factory right there. 🏭
The glues in the plywood are taste incredible
That lead flashing gonna add great flavor
Everything about it is wrong 😂
How? It is on the outside, and there is no heat to it?
Have you heard about formaldehyde in these plates, when heated it will pass into the meat. It had to be made of just wood, nothing else. Advice for future contractors not to use glued boards.
Fantastic vid, enjoyed watching this immensely. Just bought my dad a basic smoker off eBay but may have to try building one for myself now. In Croatia I had smoked chicken out of some little village smokehouse, definitely something to try as was the best chicken I've ever eaten. Cheers gents!
Im glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully you can get some pointers and make your own one now. Okay great I will have to give that a try, it sounds amazing. Thanks for the comment!
Lol
Nice build
I made a DIY smoke maker no pump and use very little pallets or wood.
very good for smoking cold recipe
Awesome build thanks for sharing.
No problem 👍
Awesome Build
I'm glad you like it
awesome content as usual!
Thank you. Much appreciated
I'm coming over for supper!👍🇺🇸
Right on!
That is absolutely brilliant! Beautiful little project, fantastic attention to detail, I’d be massively happy if I’d built that. Those mackerel fillets looked lovely. Top work mate! 👌🏼
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it. It fits in quite well in the garden
Cool 👍🏽
Good work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome
Thanks
Holy mackerel!
Nice. I built my own also. My brother purchased a bx 50 and prefers mine.😂
cool!!!
Thank you 👍👍
Nice
Kippers coming right up
Haha thanks
Well congrats on saving yourself $3,000 - $6,000, haha. Awesome. Loved it.
Yes! Thank you!
Why in the good holy hell are you spending 3-6k on a smoker? A very nice smoker can be had for 500 brand new. And I mean very nice. It will definitely outlast this and won’t poison you with osb glue
You got a smoker that works in the end. I cringe at your planning abilities, tool selection, masonry and carpentry skills. But hey, it smokes and the fish looks like it’s delicious. So there it is… 🤘🏻🤘🏻it rocks.
cool vid but cringed slightly when you used a masonry drill bit on wood 1:53
My bad, thanks for watching
Came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed. I wondered why the drill wasn't just melting through the OSB, then realized what kind of bit it was.
Cracking project. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it 😁
We did not enjoy. You are teaching. How to make toxic food ??
@@katjafalla8249 I did enjoy it very much. In the UK when we say "Cracking" we mean its fantastic.
unrelated, but could you do a quick walk-through video on the Salvimar Deeper diving watch i saw you had on in earlier videos. im new to freediving and just bought the watch and it didnt work on my last dive :)
It's happening, I'm in the process of making one. It will be out in the next couple of weeks 👍👍
@@spearfin you rock buddy!
I probably wouldn't use lead on my smokehouse, just in case
Cool project, what kind of fireboard have you used? thought about using glasroc or supalux but saw many advising against it. I've recently seen vermiculite fire bricks (1 inch thich, pretty cheap). Also saw vermiculite sheets but very expensive. But the stuff you used ain't vermiculite, what's that?
I will have to get back to you on this one. My father picked these up for me so I will have to ask him
I just hope it’s not AiB
I'm liking your choice of music, not some stupid electro thing
Thanks
This video makes it looks so easy to build a smoker which I've gotten a sudden crave to do. Only problem is that I am not a DIY man at all! Would be much appreciated if you could tell me how much it cost to build.
Apart from the screws, hinges and a few other bits I got the rest for free as i had it laying around at home. But if you were to add all of the materials up i would reckon it would cost roughly £200
@@spearfin that's pretty damn cheap! Might just give it a go if I get a chance.
@@spearfin but cheers for your response.
@@redbaron1001 Just don't use OSB, use natural wood. Thats something I have changed on mine. The osb is toxic
@@spearfin thanks for letting me know!
Awesome job👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
good build! Seems like it could be too hot, how do you regulate temp?
Thank you. It was at first, i just make sure not to put too much wood on at once, it took a couple of goes to get it right. Thanks for the comment.
Holy Mackerel!
Haaa
How do you control the drip from the meat
I just put a tray on a raised platform
How you get draft from the stove without chimney ??
It just happens ahha. I nearly installed a small valve on the side allowing some air flow but there wasn't any need, it works fine without it.
I used to eat the glue in kindergarden and I turned out great ???
When its a fish eye lense but no really some people just suck at cutting
Your English sucks 👍
thats a drill for concrete
Seen. The only one i had at the time. Did the though didn't it
Lmao 🤣 That’s what I thought
Haha noooo. The glue. Awesome design though
As I scroll down threw the comments No one seems to criticize anything.... As a former Architectural student, no criticizing no growth... That being said, why did you use concrete board or sheet rock on the inside? I see a lot of people NOT insulating their smoke houses, Why? It seems common sense to me to insulate a smoke house so you use less wood/charcoal... If anyone has an answer, please let me know...
I am guessing that they wanted to be able to use it for cold smoking as well as hot smoking
Great, but have you thought that the OSB board is glued and that harmful substances will be released during smoking? Probably better made of real wood. Of course, that's just my opinion.
Will it all burn off after time and a lot of heat? Ive had the smoker going with nothing inside in hopes it will burn most of the glue out
@@spearfin In my experience it will be rather difficult because even if you make a smoker from wood, wood likes to "cry" after many years. Warm greetings for U.
Lead, formaldehyde and god knows what else. This is a good store for kindling. As for food - not on your Nellie. Bleurgh 🤒
I see you're not very skilled with your handy work
Yeah cheers mate. Great comment
Looks good to me .
You gotta take this shit video down. Is this a troll or what. People use food safe materials when you are making food handling and cooking devices.
