@@MarkoSharko69 I was playing trumpet with a sax player on a gig a few years back and it was so much fun. People came up to us after and asked how long we had been playing together and it blew their mind when we told them we met that morning lol.

The A Train Battle took years of studying and translation, but I am happy to finally say that Collier, myself, Mozart and other 'greats' have finally been able translate, the beauty of what happened. So that now mere mortals may now also try replicate the legacy left behind by the sax god's...
Revisiting this video several years later made me realize: they were using the magic of the Blues scale! The scale works with every chord so naturally each player wouldn't have to worry about harmony too much
You can tell that at this moment, these guys both recognized the power of the other player. And as acknowledgement, they had turned it from a duel to a duet.

This is one of my favorite videos on the internet and I knew it would only be a matter of time until it was transcribed. So glad you manage to keep a semi-regular upload schedule even amid school!
Damn, it’s about time this legendary video was transcribed! Just wish we had the whole thing, but seeing the length of it, I think that’s asking for too much lol
Was waiting for this! Thank you for posting it to your channel! This one shows so much give and take that at times you can't tell who is playing what! Ideas thrown, grabbed, borrowed, blended and accepted back and then accentuated in split seconds. It's harmony at all times when both are conducting and being conducted. This was a pleasure to watch, and a pleasure to see on your channel.
Look at the faces of the passengers! Man, you guys need to do this more often, waayy more often! We need more of this in this messed up world - to lift people's spirits, put a spring in their steps, make them go on again with a smile on their faces!
I feel like I'm getting outcasted from music by being in the Mojave desert... (no trains to be on, I haven't even seen what a passenger train is like in America since I lived in Japan during early childhood...)
The end was what made me think these two guys were Moon Hooch at first lol. The ridiculously strong altissimo and the honked out harmonics on the bari was so reminiscent of them
Is this a song they both knew and seen each other and began playing it together or was this all improve upon seeing each other like a freestyle Saxophone battle?!? Absolutely beautiful regardless
The guy on the bari sax is playing some Michael Jackson song which the guy picks up on. Since it’s, relatively speaking, pretty uncomplicated a song, it makes it easy to improv over. They just happen to be right place right time :-)
There is a video called "The A train sac battle : directors supercut" which puts a lot of clips together and shows the entire battle lasting 6 minutes long

Yeah it is especially trained in jazz. I kinda get upset that my ears are so sensitive tho. It’s like a super power….so I can’t complain 😂😂

The 16th notes on the bass line are so crispy clean 🤩🤩🤩🤩
That one moment where the audience harmonized sounded amazing
Their claps sound like a sick beat tho
That bari line at 1:10 🥵
