  • Philosopher and author Charles Eisenstein comes to Campfire Stories founder Mattias Olsson’s hometown of Järna, Sweden, to give a talk at the Youth Initiative Program. Mattias had read Eisenstein’s book ”The Ascent of Humanity”, which made him leave his "regular filmmaking career" behind, and create Campfire Stories - a gift economy based platform, creating films that inspire change. In this film, the two sit down in Mattias’ kitchen, and Charles explains his theory of The Story of Separation, and The Story of Interbeing.
    This film serves well as an introduction to Eisenstein's philosophy, for anyone who wants to get the basics in just 20 minutes.

    Profound thanks for this, Mattias and the Campfire team. We need nore people who can discern where we strayed from the path of goodness, of people who can think differently without being scared of being labeled as bizarre or anti-conformist which is what social media is leading us. It's also a good reminder that Charles say that separation is an illusion. For a long time, mankind has been in denial, separating ourselves from nature, from other sentient beings, from each other.

    Tusen tack! No coincidences, a friend forwarded a video from Charles (who I never heard of) , which led to your video. The friend is in Portugal (so am I) and we moved here from Sweden 2 years ago (I'm not Swedish but my husband & son are and I lived there 12 years, I feel Swedish enough) Thank you for the inspiration, the message of living with the heart by the heart resonates)
    Who is responsible for the quote at the end, is it yours? It's magic.
    Ta hand om dig och lycka till ❤

    Nice words. Have you heard Charles talk about ways people come together on a larger scale, rather than fight their little corners? Often protecting things locally is not enough because haven't enough support. We only come together to talk but then we are divided in a million directions when it comes to fighting a cause. I believe we need to come together to talk more so that we can make plans to cooperate together. There is nothing we cannot protect if we learn rationally together and win one battle at a. If we fight millions of battles at once, we are diminishing our forces. If you have a different perspective, I'm open to hearing

      @campfire-stories  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't know. It's a tricky one. But maybe we're not diminishing but spreading our forces? It seems to me that however good the intentions are, whenever some movement becomes too big it ends up corrupted. So maybe, just maybe we need thousands of smaller forces to spread love and kindness in the world? But, yeah, I'm with you: also open to hearing different perspectives. Thanks for your comment.

      Nice to receive your reply. I have given it some thought but would like to spend more time on it. For now, what i can say is I believe in the intentional rebirth of a wisdom tradition which extends into action by continuing more of these conversations. Corruptibility is always more likely when we are too proud to let go & learn. Some things, in spirit or action, have stood the test of time, even if they were subdued physically by apparent power
