There is a test you can take to confirm that. I tested and got tetrachromats (4cones) which apparently a quarter of the population has. Again not sure how accurate these tests are but fun to try

Gotta speak up as an classic LA old home owner (mine is an early cape cod) Rounding the arches changes the era and timeline of the design. I believe making them rounded makes them more Spanish rather than the French look you are going for and/or the original design of the house. Do what makes you happy but maybe research more if you want to stay true to the time and design of the home.

When Romeo's gone for the day, grab a ladder (buy one if you need to and store it in the garage, you'll be using it 100x), get a furniture scraper and see if you can scrape off a chunk of the paint on one the beams. If it comes off easy, you'll know you a can start scraping one beam at time (then use paint stripper to get off the rest). If it doesn't come off easy, you can repaint what you've done and you'll know if you need to have beams professionally stripped.😉

Macenna, roses sort of "breath in" when you cut them creating an "air pocket" at the tip of the cut end which prevents water from getting up the stem. To prevent this, cut from the bush, and then when arranging in a vase, snip about 1 more inch off, but do it under water. When you move them from the "cutting bowl" to the vase, they should have a drop of water stuck to the end of the stem. This will indicate that you did it correctly. This way they'll "breath in" water instead of air, and it won't prevent them from drinking up water. This will allow them to last longer. Also you can get cut flower food which will allow them to last longer too

Your house has probably gone through phases of renovation and extension which is why you've got some parts with trim and some with no trim and different flooring. My last home was built in 1921 and it had major renovations in the 50s and 90s and it was so interesting to work out what had been added and altered. It was almost like modern archeology figuring out the different phases of my home

As time as gone on, I've found myself saving your videos to be the "special moments" where I can really sit and watch, not just listen.
I've just finished eating a Pittsburgh chicken salad on my patio in the unusually cool 72° early evening of the Charleston, SC metro. From my poolside Adirondack chair I'm admiring my hydrangeas very intense blue blooms, the red sunset peeking through our magnolia tree leaves, with a cappuccino in hand. My gardenia, named after the former owner of the land I live on, is blooming and greets me with its scent when I walk out my front door and from my nightstand.
You so often have been my reminder to "keep moving forward" in making our house our home, but I thank you for the recent reminders to live slow and take in the moment. Slainté! To the moments we've worked for to make the present we've created.

I love your little green outfit--that's my favorite shade of green! I once painted an accent wall that color. On the subject of archways--years ago my then-husband and I had to put in an arch. We used doorskins, which bend very easily. But the difference in our case was no wood trim; we scored drywall and overlaid the arches with that. So I can see why you used regular wood, since you wanted a wood framework all around.

I know you love to cut flowers from your garden to have in your home, but when they start to wilt and can't go back, dry them upside down in a shady spot with open air 😊 you can hang them up as what I think they call a wall "swag" or just put them right side up again if you wanted. If you use the seam from the waist band (front to back) you shorten the waist height. If you use the seam of the legs (side to side) it brings up the inseam. Wash and dry them first in case of shrinkage tho.

I have followed you for several years and everything you have done has been amazing ❤❤❤❤. I am in awe at your talent and skills in so many different facets of remodeling. This home is so beautiful almost like it should be in a country side in England or France because of the gardens ❤❤❤❤can’t wait till next Sunday 😊

I love seeing your comments!!! I always recognize you from your thumbnail! Thank you so much!!!! && I totally agree it also feels that way too like I’m not in the city like I’m at peace in the countryside … but I can also go down the street to the hardware store easily hahah 🥰

Mark my words this girl is going to be a full fledged Gardner as soon as she starts planting. Especially if/ when she discovers David Austin roses. I caught the bug in my mid 30s and everything inside became secondary. I found this channel to relearn how to make the inside pretty again.

I'm glad you are not changing dramaticly your archways, just slightly fixing the angle because I think they are more unique being a soft arch. It will look gorgeous. I love the black brown for the fireplace. I hope you do the door as well. It will look moody and sophisticated and balanced with the fireplace. I would go with the first paint color. Although I looove haven of coziness I agree it will read too dark. I still don't like the scale of the swivel chairs 😅

“Light Sabre…!”… MaCenna, your very being brings ‘perfect lighting’ into all of our lives throughout each of your videos from start to finish & I am profoundly grateful! ~Love that you are literally taking time to smell the flowers! Though these two powerful words seem so inadequate as I try to convey my gratitude, it is with pure joy that I…,
    ‘thank you!’

There is nothing better than a beautiful garden. I have live in my home for a full year and the previous owner was so smart in their plantings so there is colour and interest all year round. I love my old legacy garden. It’s winter in Australia and cold where I live so I can see the bulbs starting to poke up through the earth.

Have you looked up your homes renovation history? It seems to me like the rooms with brick were added on. Usually homes built in the 1920’s were a smaller footprint.

Thanks for explaining about some people being able to see tones in color and some can't. My husband ( a designer) drives me nuts when picking out colors. He sees all these tones in things that I can't. When looking for a white paint for the kitchen in our first home (years ago) he literally brought a suitcase of white paint samples home. Now I understand! I do know that the colors on the walls in our homes always flow. Love how you are so willing to tackle jobs!

I also love Sherwin Williams sealskin, it's gorgeous and it's a blackish brown. I'm painting my kitchen lower cabinets in that color and all interior doors too on the exterior sides. I'm going to paint our post on the kitchen the same shade, later I want to cover the post in stone or faux stone wrap. Some day.

You will need to order a flexible radius trim for your doorways, it would be nice if it is similar in style to the existing door & window trims in your house.

I would wait until you wash the waffle pants before ordering more. Sometimes after washing a few times it fits better. If you get the medium and wash it you may not have the loose comfortable fit anymore. It does not look bad . They are cute!

I love the color you chose for the fireplace and haven of coziness together. That room would look great with board and batten all around to make it cottage style and tone down the California style. (Some day, a big, handsome guy is going to be very blessed to have you in his life.)
