Thats some setup ya have there, proper silage outfit the digger is a tidy job. We would have a similar setup as we to cut with a single chop but with a trauup 54 inch on a 5455 massy only we use a 135 and buckrake on our pit ..... thought we where the only lads left in cavan that cut single chop :P
Hey question, I notice you guys are using an excavator for laying out the silage in the pit/bunker. In California over here I've always seen just big solid blades on large tractors & never seen the spike style before. Is it more benefit to use spikes over the solid blades? Same with excavator over a tractor, just preference of choice?
tell me if im wrong but the buckrake os mainly used for grass and some other crops but some places use blades for things like maize and /or wholecrop And then i just think the digger thing is what this faremer uses most farmer /contractors use tractors . Although the digger way does seem a good way to do it
Lovely to see the single chop working..we had one back in the eighties.

what is the use of the big gap seen in 0:10?
... and the moral of the story.. never give a woman the video camera. True story.

Like a big lawnmower ! :D
If there was no gap, the tailboard would bend when fully tipped
