I totally agree with your “Time heals the wounds” comment. When you lose someone you love, time doesn’t heals your wounds, you just learn to live with them because you have no choice. It is a tough lesson to learn but there is always light at the end of the tunnel ❤

I agree to a certain extent but I see it more like, time does heal the wound but it leaves behind scar tissue. You heal but you're never the same.

Thank you for addressing loss. Time doesn't heal, it does change. A new "normal." I miss my mom every day. And we all loved your dad so much. It is such a joy watching you and your brother and now your daughter grow up. I cried so hard the dad your dad died. The world cried. But I'm certain he is so proud of all of you. Your family is such an inspiration to us all.

I am SO proud of you guys for continuing to build on your Dad's dream and protect the animals of our world...and teaching your littlest Wildlife Warrior to do the same. Papa Steve would be absolutely tickled, but not surprised that her favorite animal is a crocodile. Of course it is, her being the Croc Hunter's granddaughter. I DO hope ya'll will be continuing Crikey Its the Irwin's. I love that show.

I couldn't agree more with your statement about time changing wounds, not healing them. I lost my dad 5 years ago, and then my mom passed a year later. (The mere concept of losing my parents was so foreign to me, so far out there, until it happened. It was like, I knew it would happen, but didn't actually expect it to happen, if that makes any sense.) I still tear up talking about them, thinking about them, etc, (and as I type this...). It amazes me that I live in a world they are no longer a part of. In the same way that your body will never be the same after you've had surgery, your heart, (emotionally, I mean), is never the same after you lose someone you truly love. 💕

Oh Bindi, you melt my heart. You are such a beautiful soul. I remember you growing up when I worked at AZWH and you are still the sweetest and most kind person. I love these sessions! Terri was my inspiration when my husband died 2 years ago. I remember her coming over to AZWH when we were trying to catalogue all the sympathy letters when Steve died, and she was so brave, even in the midst of her profound grief. I love your family. You are all such a legacy of Steve’s and he would be so proud. Take care. Rhonda. Xx 🥰🐨🐍

I'm 75 now, I still miss Steve, he was such huge world wide figure.
Many years ago, a lady teacher friend of mine was telling me about one of her
sons, about how he just wouldn't sit still. of all things, her son is there, I asked him how is school going for you, he chimes back, I'm doing practice sitting. good

Steve Irwin was the leader in educating people on creatures (almost any creature) in their natural settings, providing understanding of their characters and nature. Terri Irwin joined Steve as his wife whole heartedly and energetically, now Australia Zoo, with Robert, Bindi, Chandler and the staff at the Zoo provide hope for the future that nature may have protected complex ecological systems as human learn more--a lot more--as we struggle for the earth to be balanced ans survive.

You two are absolutely wonderful! My family was lucky to travel to Australia in July! My son is attending University of Sydney for his study abroad. My husband and I went to Australia zoo and then visited the hospital. We also had a fabulous behind-the-scenes tour! And fed a giraffe! It was magical and I think we were the last ones to leave! we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Warrior restaurant and I wish we were staying at the Crocodile Hunter Lodge! We loved looking at all of the wonderful artifacts at the zoo of your dad‘s legacy and the amazing pictures of all of you! You’re one of our favorites and visiting the zoo was definitely a bucketlist item for me! ❤

I was so fortunate to see a pangolin in Botswana. We were on a game drive and something ran across the road. Our driver was so excited he practically jumped out of the vehicle with it still moving. He had lived in Botswana all his life and had only seen a pangolin one other time. His excitement was contagious. At that moment I realized how incredibly lucky I was to see one in the wild. It was one of the most amazing moments and a memory I will never forget!

Not only that he was the greatest person on earth but I still grieve for him as our 40 wedding anniversary is coming up next week. So in our house we will NEVER forget him.

While you’re in Florida to visit Chandler’s family, you should take Grace to Disney World. Showing her what it will be like, everything she’ll get to do, & see all her favorite characters, that might be a big incentive for her, especially being only 3, & may be so exciting that she would tolerate the flight a little better, knowing she’s going somewhere magical. And it’ll be such a great family memory to make. Best wishes to you all ☺️

Thank you for sharing that about your dad. On June 29, 2024 my nephew was tragically taken from us as he was murdered by three suspects fleeing a robbery. He was 26 years and would have turn 27 years old on July 9, 2024. I wish i could help my sister through the grieving processes but we all grieve in our own ways. I wish she would talk about him but she won’t. Maybe someday she will be able to. She is expecting her first grandchild next year. I hope that she does what you do with your father and show that grandchild videos and pictures of their uncle because he was so wonderful.

  • @FernCurtis

So correct when it comes to grief and how time simply changes things and the saying about “time healing all wounds”. My Dad has been gone almost 47 years, my Mum has been gone 14 years. I have found that time softens the blow, but the holes left by their passing will never heal 100% because they aren’t here and no matter how long they have been gone, you will find that something will trigger the tears, from time to time. I haven’t gotten teary eyed about Daddy for a while now. The question about how to handle losing a father, didn’t trigger me. Bindi’s quiet, gentle response did though and I felt those tears start forming because I still miss him. When you love someone and that person is no longer with us, it is just normal, to miss them and get teary eyed or even bawl, even years later.

  • @lynnenicholson6968
    @lynnenicholson6968 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Sending love and hugs to you and your family Bindi, and to the person who asked the question, and to all of us who mourn after the death of our father, mother, or any other loved ones.
Time doesn’t heal. I lost my dad out of the blue a little over a month before my 21st birthday. As luck, fate, or karma would have it the Saturday we’d gone to a jeweller and I’d chosen a ring as was our family tradition (established with my older sister). Dad died on the Monday. In between he’d returned to get the ring and I was given it on my birthday (unfortunately I married a wrong ‘un who destroyed it out of jealousy and became an ex).
I have what I call Hell Month because after losing dad a whole load of other rubbish anniversaries happened in September. It’s 42 years later this year and I still feel raw around the anniversary.
My way to remember him is to continue to be stubbornly independent as he taught me the skills I needed for DIY. It’s only been becoming blind (8 years ago) that has made me limit my DIY to smaller scale projects.
Every one finds their own ways of mourning, commemorating, and honouring their loved ones memories. I hope you all find your way… but remember it’s okay to allow yourself the emotions.
I can attest they are never far away and if you stay open you’ll see/ feel the signs.

A virtual tour of the zoo would be amazing for people who cannot visit. I'm in the uk and will never get to come to Australia as my body wouldn't be able to handle the flight. I have 2 damaged vertebrae in my spine, Psoriatic Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.

I agree. They could do a virtual map with 3D views of the exhibits (think like Street View on Google Maps), or something similar. However, in the meantime, for those who don’t know, a person can kinda do a virtual, free tour of AZ on Google Earth. It is a 3D rendering, of course, so it’s not detailed pics/videos of the place, including the animals. But you can get a good idea of what the layout of the park is like, etc.

Florida man in Australia… makes sense hahaha💞.
I lost the love of my life 6 years ago. I lost my heart when he went. He was 24. I’m almost 30 now. I agree with everything you said. Time doesn’t heal all wounds. In my opinion and experience it’s gotten more difficult with time because it feels like I’m slowly losing my memory of him. So keeping those memories alive is so important. Write them down. Talk about them. There’s been times where I felt hopeless and so lost. I was hospitalized recently because the emotional pain felt too much in that moment. People say “they would want you to be happy and live your life”. No kidding! It’s not helpful at all. The cliche comfort phrases don’t change anything. At the end of the day they’re still gone. However, it’s out of love when people say those things so I don’t hold it against anyone. Everyone grieves differently because every relationship is unique. I also feel him with me, too. I find comfort in talking to him like he is here. Our time here isn’t promised, but I believe I’ll see him again when it’s my time. Anyway. If anyone is reading this and is living with grief I’m sending you a big hug and a some love. Remember this: it only hurts like it does because you loved so big. If I could relive my life and couldn’t change anything or even know I would lose him, I’d do it over and over. The pain is as deep as the love was and is worth every sad moment I’ve experienced. Rest in peace to my Nick. To Steve. And to anyone’s loved ones who have passed away.
Much, much love and big, big hugs from Alabama💞

Anyone who has ever seen a wild polar bear, it was the last thing they've ever seen. They are VERY dangerous.

A virtual tour would be amazing. I'm in the uk and will never get to go to Australia as my body wouldn't be able to handle the flight. I have 2 damaged vertebrae in my spine, Psoriatic Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.
