I am starting to believe that Tom is a sleeper agent sent out to play cool indie games that aren't on the Yog's radar and then they extract the information from him in a deep underground facility so they can support and help publish these indie games
Whether intentional or not, that's absolutely something that probably happens. I wouldn't be surprised if the Yogs saw the success of Balatro and asked around the office if anyone knew of anything like it. Tom could then have mentioned this game, and so they reached out.

The fool is a perfect card for Tom. He can use it to give most of his deck of dubious decisions to his opponent, and use something actually playable instead!
5:40 You want cards as small as possible, that still add up to 22.
That allows you to cycle through special cards, avoids busting, but still leaves you enough for a blackjack.

Im still making a real-life deck of this game with blank playing cards and sharpies. The live play during Camp Yog was great. Play this game now and then during coffee breaks.
Pretty sure that 8 getting decreased to 7 was a bug. You clicked Increase, and the tooltip said the card value would be increased by 1.

It really sounded like Lewis but I heard "doing" as in the end of him shouting 'what are you doing'

Having watched the older video, this is definitely a deja vu in many aspects. Even down to the comments; you know who you are. However, it's clear the game has improved visually and mechanically.

Does anyone know why at 4:15, Tom took 3 damage, but at 11:11 he took 13 damage? The cards played were the exact same
