Great video. I owned an occasion/holiday website and ETSY shop for years and brought in 6 figures each year. Owned it back in 2012 until 2019. This was before I knew anything about POD. I got out of it for the same reason you mentioned in this video. Although I made 6 figures each year. It was so draining. As soon as one holiday ended. I had to scramble to make new designs to go with what was trending that year for the next holiday. Needless to say, I no longer own that website/shop.
As always, great advice and tips. Anyone just starting out definitely needs to sign up for Joe's free POD for dummies course. Well worth every second. Thanks Joe
I second this! Joe Robert is a national treasure and the amount of high quality free training that he provides is a fabulous resource for anyone looking to get started with Print On Demand. I'm a print-on-demand seller and I recommend Joe Robert/POD Ninjas.
Hey Joe! I am learning so much from your videos. I am sort of new to them. I have about 40 listings and it’s taken me a few months to get the hang of all this and yikes I’m a bit of an over thinker so I start to get in my on way . I’m kind of carving out my niche as of now. I realized what brings me joy and inspo as I’m designing. I feel like I’m learning so much about myself through this journey. I am one Etsy for now but my plan is definitely to build my website. It’s a lot more spending monthly to have Shopify and I needed to build some trust in myself lol. I just had no idea I could love this even though I have had no success or visibility yet. I need to learn about ads and marketing. Sorry for my ramble. I’ll end here.
Really helpful to know what strategies are outdated-especially for anyone looking to start fresh in 2024! Great insights, thanks for keeping us up to date.
i wanted to design for special occasions. but your advice is great. I should try selling products that have appeal all year long not just for a time being
hi joe, If you are joining amplified event next week can you please ask printify owners why their are not offering pop up store iin canada? when and why. please update us with your finding. they have offered it in so many countries why not Canada
@@RealJoeRobert Thank you for the feedback. Am really interested in a legitimate paid course that really teaches what it takes to grow a successful print on demand business...soup to nuts.
If you don't do free shipping, how do you handle being charged shipping for each item for different print providers? Like, what if someone orders a t-shirt and a mug? You will have to pay shipping on both. If you only charge, say 7 dollars flat, you would be losing money on shipping that would cut into your profit.
Price your products to cover the cost of shipping. Offer free shipping only for orders over a certain amount. I use flat-rate shipping for all other orders based on the total order amount.
If you have your own Shopify print on demand store, you can set your own rates for shipping. I use a flat rate based on the total order amount, and sometimes offer free shipping over a certain dollar amount. I figure the cost of shipping into the price I ask for the product. You also have to factor in not only the production and shipping costs, but offering discounts to customers and the other expenses of running a business, so add some padding into your profit margin. When you design a product with Printify, they tell you up front what the production cost and shipping cost will be, so you can do the math. They suggest a selling price, but I always change it.

Hi Joe, I'd like to join your University. Can you please send me the sign-up link? I have 2 months to get ready and I'm not a beginner, I've been selling POD on Etsy for 2 years now. Do you think I could make a few bucks in Nov and Dec? Thanks!
What do you think about incorporating shipping cost into the product and then offering all items FREE shipping. I should think it simplifies things for the customer, and the store owner, ensures that the store owner isn't losing out on shipping costs and the customer doesn't get sticker shock when ordering two shirts and paying$7 -$8 shipping.
It's always amazing how many people want their stores reviewed and they have not followed any of the strategies you promote. People, do your research!
lol right?
Thanks for watching 😊

For those who want to design their own products, and not contract out, using the All-in-one shops seems like it could make sense to learn.
Thanks Joe for reviewing my store! I still have a lot to learn and improve

I have a whole store created but not one organic sale in a year. Marketing… my ADHD brain does NOT want to do it. How can this task be made to be fun?
Tell me about it

Is self help a good niche?
What is the cost to acquire a customer for your Shopify print on demand store?
It varies based on many factors. For me between $10-$20

Don’t overthink it.
You are in control of all of your prices you would need to price things accordingly based on what you were charging for shipping

Is a floral/plants designs and patterns a good niche?
In most cases, kind of broad I would assume
@@RealJoeRobert what would be better then
