If it's three letters and the clue is "One ___ customer," and the answer is "TOA" instead of "PER," I'd be kind of mad.

I always fill out the ones I know first. Doesn't everyone?

Nope, I work from what I know outward. If I get stuck I jump to the lower right corner. I don't like just filling in randomly all that I know. I would just rather work through it geometrically.

A lot of NYT Sunday puzzles irritate me a lot because : A lot of proper names, which is complete bunkum. A legitimately famous person from history or currently, is acceptable. However, most television-related people ARE NOT! Why? because a good crossword oughht to edify and educate the solver. Television is 95% a low-brow B class medium. Those who become familiar with the boring regulars of such series as LA law, etc. don't deserve to be rewarded in any way - they are time wasters without much of a life.
Reason 2 is: The NYT puzzle clues/ answers are often are often parochial and not fair or interesting to anyone who is not a NY denizen. Who cares about a clue that refers to something that only can be familiar to a Bronx or Bedford-Stuyesant resident?
But generally the NYT puzzle is the most stimulating brain test around.
    Thanks.
