Superb series Guy and well worth putting some time aside and binge watch all three videos. Super interesting historical facts along the way. Great work as always. 👏👌
One of the reason's I've just moved to the Montgomery area is the emptiness and unspoilt nature of Shropshire and the Marches. I look forward to the book coming out and setting off on sections of the route from home. Excellent videos, really informative and entertaining. Thank you.
Congratulations on a superb piece of work, introducing a challenging cycle route and an area of outstanding cultural interest, which you did extremely well. Good luck with the guide: far more here to visit than can be fitted into three days. Chapeau.
Thanks very much Sebastian. Inevitably the video and guidebook are only really introductions to each of the many stories this area has written across it. Hopefully they're enough to get people interested in digging deeper into all the historical and geological tales this fantastic area can tell though
Thank you and Cycling UK for all the work developing these routes. As I commented on Part One of these three films, I’m unable to ride them for the most part as I have road going bikes (Brompton and a Pashley) BUT by listing the villages and towns you go through on this and other routes, I am able to plot my own road going routes following your off road routes as best I can. Some off road bits are doable on even my little Brompton, particularly when dried out in summer and I’ve never minded walking beside the bike for rougher stretches. Thanks again for your work - I’m off now to look at other films you’ve made and their possibilities for my own, slightly adjusted, use 🤗
Absolutely fantastic, it's definitely on the to-do list, thanks for all the effort and time you put into making the 3 videos....need a bigger cassette and tyres now me thinks 👍
A great series of videos Guy. I've only ever watched your bike test videos and Dyfi etc, so this was a nice addition for me! From Wrexham and me and my mate are getting a little chubby in our later years so we're trying to get thinner and fitter and this might be a good thing to do when the time is right - probably over more days than 3 though!
Glad you enjoyed it Bob. Yep even with some great bakeries and pubs along the way and a more relaxed pace this should still burn plenty of calories for you!
Lucky you. If they ever clear the bridleway just south of the Wrekin can you let me know please as it was a real shame not to be able to include that as it was so overgrown.
Another great video. Really appreciate you doing the recce ride. There are so many overgrown paths where I been attacked by nettles or brambles in the area, so many thanks for enduring that so that we don't have to. I'm glad you changed the route from the trail down into Carding Mill valley. It is the only really busy part of the Shropshire hills, with it being a National trust site, and there are many other great downhill trails off the Mynd. I'm really looking forward to riding the whole route with my son next year.
Yup, I came back pretty shredded from this one. A shame as there were some potentially great paths that we just couldn't use. The Carding Mill switch is definitely a sensible one, especially for people doing the trip on gravel bikes. Hopefully people who want to spice it up will grab a map and spot the obvious alternatives. Hope you have a great trip with your son anyway
You think that’s quiet!…try the routes around north west Shropshire (Oswestry area) and the Berwyns…just as lumpy and even more castles for you to explore 😅. Seriously I’ve really enjoyed your 3 episodes and learnt a lot from your commentary. Being local, I have cycled much of the route over the years and I think you’ve done a great job of linking it all together…you certainly need low gears, fat tyres and climbing legs though!
Thanks, binge watched all three episodes, really entertaining and informative, recognised some spots I've ridden as I'm fairly local to Ludlow, but many are new to me. This third section seems a mismatched length, if parts 1 and 2 were 38 and 43 miles respectively, this last leg is 100 miles - is it half as hard🤣?
Great series Guy, live not far from this lot, look forward to the route. You should do another one with MTB routes as there's so many places you went past with seriously good trails.
Thanks for pointers on the route I downloaded into Komoot to compare with the West Country way we did the other year fully loaded across Dartmoor and Exmoor and it compares very well. That was 130 m ( our version 145) with approx 14,000 ft of climbing so I think gravel bike with right gears will work okay. I just about coped with 11- 46 so I might go with this unless I feel flush anyway great work looking forward to the book.
Great route and very good informative videos, just binged all 3! I was thinking of doing the route in April 25. A lot of the off road looks likes lovely gravel, so even with a wet winter would it be ridable? Keep up the good work👍
Really glad you enjoyed the videos. Some of the southern bits from Ludlow to Knighton can get soggy but most of it should hopefully be good by April. There’s a really good Facebook group/page for up to the minute conditions info and other resources
@@hicky62 absolutely, just pop open a map and there are plenty of quiet road options. As I said in the captions we’ve already taken out the really rough descent off Long Mynd anyway.
The knarly downhill into Church Stretton is bad enough on a full suspension MTB. I've cycled up it a couple of times too, well halfway then walked tge rest. Definitely one to avoid for anyone not on MTB or not confident.
Well done, learned some history , and enjoyed every minute.
Really glad you enjoyed it Dennis

What a fantastic route, I did cycle around Clun and up to stiperstones etc. Hard work!!
Think that route would be 4/5 days for me!
four or five days would be a great way to do it and really appreciate the area
@@GuyKesTV yes lots of history you have no time to absorb if you pike through it. I did the Rebellion way, this looks slightly hillier 😉
