Talk about a blast from the past! At one season of my life I swallowed Victoria Holt books in great gulps. Phyllis Whitney, Mary Stewart, and, um-Helen McInnes for some extra suspense. I was so young then…
Your comments about Dover Books reminded me that in 1979 I picked up their edition of Anson’s voyage around the world and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it.
Hi Steve, I just filmed my video on my list of books I was thinking about reading in the next two months, and I noticed one of my books was blurred by you. I don't know if you even remember the book, but it's called The Revolution of Marina M. by Janet Fitch.
This incoming storm could be like the one we "got" last month, when we were told to expect a foot of snow, and we ended up getting zippity-do-dah-day. Still, I borrowed three new-to-me books from our local public library today. Just in case.
What an assortment! & how perspicacious of you to stock up in case a deluge of a water drop should hit. ps- I love that Berberova book. Would have been my find of the day hands down...with the Bertrice Small HC resplendent in 2nd place.
@@saintdonoghue Exactly! I liked their response to the final line in the Silver Surfer story about the answers being within oneself - ‘Tell us more oh great one!’ 😂
My mother noticed a random loose female (alien?) breast in a copy of Epic Magazine and absolutely forbid me to ever read it again. Hence it became my life's mission to round up every issue of Epic I could...
Steve, after being alerted of potentially apocalypctic weather conditions: "Food? Water? Other essentials? No... I must visit the Brattle!"
Great issue of Savage Sword (and Saga)! You found Epic at the Brattle? Score.
In addition to innumerable sff books from this buy, the shop got SO much stuff like this, comics, magazines, even old issues of TV Guide -
I’ve used that Amis letter collection for shoulder exercises.
hah! I much, much prefer my e-book, for just that reason!

Well, you literally can't go wrong adding Helen McInnes to any mix ...
I loved all those as well!
re Howells; Library of America publishes a two edition collection. That's something!

Yes - that's exactly the kind of incredible thing they used to do!

Amazing haul! That Book of the Month find is particularly great ❤
Formidable! Conan stuff!
Excellent haul! Thank you for the video. 😀
Take a Girl Like You is one of Amis' more serious things. I also remember hearing you say you like Jake's Thing.
Dover...I like the Dover musical scores. To follow along on symphonies and operas.
Oh my, yes - their EPIC music scores!
Had a great Brattle haul on Friday: Arenas, The Ill-Fated Peregrinations of Frey Servando; Arreola, The Fair; and Llosa, War of the End of the World.
you went to the Brattle without me???
Have you read Edward Whittemore - The Jerusalem Quartet: Sinai Tapestry, etc.? I think you would like his books.
Letters definitely count for #PeopleApril. Ros has been discussing them in the discord, and recommended the book and website of Letters of Note.
There's a Discord? Which Steve can infest?
@@saintdonoghue There sure is!
I think Agatha Christie's is the best thing she wrote.
I have those early issues of Epic Illustrated. And I can remember The Comics Journal review. Oddly, they didn’t seem to like it. 🤔
Comics Journal! FAH! What would THEY know? More importantly, what did the sexy folks at Amazing Heroes have to say?

There are all kinds of random alien breasts in this issue! Heck, the Silver Surfer's got a glossy pair of 'em!
