I had the same reaction when I first starting villaging. I said to my mother “where are all the brown people?” I knew from that moment, I would have to create my own. 😂😂😂. I agree, as the years go on, hopefully we won’t have to do this much longer. FYI- Try going online to ehobbytools.com. They sell all Lemax products and I have found more of a selection of brown people on this site.

They sell all Lemax products and if you go through their list of figurines, they have more of a selection of brown figurines than the stores do.

So far, they have been the best source I've found; however, it still left me wanting more representation, and that led me into wanting to learn how to paint my own figurines (and wanting to know if or not it could be done). I love how your painting turned out, and I enjoyed watching the transformation process, and I wouldn't mind watching more videos of you diversifying your village because I know that there are so many others out there just like us that are also feeling underrepresented. Hello Lynda, Thank you! Truthfully speaking, Lemax offers the most black and brown figurines that I have been able to find. Dept56 and some other brands don’t offer hardly any.
Love this! I contacted Lemax recently about the lack of diversity, particularly in the Caddington Village range, and it lead me to get some Luville figurines. I’d been thinking about painting some myself but was nervous about messing them up- thanks for this video, I’m certainly going to give it a go!

When I first started villaging, I used to only buy my figurines from Michael’s and they do not have good representation in the stores. I then found ehobbytools.com and they sell all Lemax products. I was able to find a lot more black and brown figurines in this website that were not in the stores. If you haven’t already, check them out too. I will also check into the Luville figurines. caddington village was based on victorian england, very few coloured folks in uk at that time, so youre really changing history for sake of poitical correctness, i wonder if figures were all coloured and folks painted them white would there be an outroar just like there is when white people black up for musical shows, plus there is a pub not far from me named after a black female dog, that is changing its name because its deemed offensive to both coloured people and women given its name is the black bitch...

Hello Mary, thank you so much. I’m glad you are enjoying my channel. I don’t use expensive paint when painting my figurines. There is a brand from Walmart called Apple barrel that I typically buy for that. They are about 2 dollars a bottle.

The question I am wondering if I can repaint the signage on some pieces as an example there is the peppermint day care sign and the building is similar to Stedman's five and dime. Can I change the lettering to the later? I would have a professional do it as this isn't my craft.

Love your villages. I am in a building process as I have collected lighted churches for years but have started to add other buildings, people and accessories. Of course, a lot of the buildings take to repainting well.
