  • This video is the third of three videos about a methodology to choose selected parameters for a jammer to counter naval anti-ship drones, guided by an operator using a video link.
    The video illustrates how to use the methodology to choose only two parameters, to illustrate the process: jammer Tx antenna height, and jammer Effective Radiated Power (ERP). For different or more parameters, the process is the same.

    A fascinating approach. I imagine that the adoption of satellite based communication with VSAT equipment changes the model somewhat as the narrower beam width and indirect signal path makes the range from the control station to the drone almost constant. With good (low) side lobes on the VSAT terminal you can imagine that the jammer power would have to be both much higher and carefully directed. I guess the natural countermeasure (from the drone’s perspective), is to adopt a multi-element array where a null can be placed specially on the location of the jammer, further increasing the immunity.

    All you need to do is get close enough to identify the target and engage an auto-pilot software.
