Here's a proper Christmas ghost story for you! Definitely worth pouring yourself a hot chocolate for and maybe adding a splash of something. Enjoy!
Sounds excellent! ❤Thank you so much! I was listening to the story (again! It’s that good) you did recently with the two children called blue eyes and the turkey with the character you did so well you had me laughing out loud, the girl in the village, “The new Mother” it was called Im almost sure, absolute genius and I think you deserve a Bafta or an Oscar at least for those performances! 😅🌟
You gift us a splendid performance, sir. The forlorn spirit was almost as shuddery as those dogskin gloves! WTF?
More common than you might think, and probably (then) quite a high value import if coming from China and the like, but I think the trade persists. I was reading that only very recently selling dog meat was banned in S. Korea.
@EnCryptedClassicHorror Animal welfare agencies are doing their best. We have the occasional victory & its significant however temporary it may be. Thanks for your thoughtful reply, Mr L.
Very romantic story for Christmas. I'm deeply romantic at the bottom of ny heart and this brought back warm, sentimental, happy tears.
Thank you for a poinant moment among much frustration and disappointment. Thank you, as always, for an island of civility in an ocean of increasing disregard, indifference and despair.
Hoping you're able to enjoy the season's finest moments. You've given me more than one. No small feat.
Thank you again, ❤
How many December evenings in years past have I searched on TH-cam for "Christmas ghost story" hoping to find something just like this? And now I've finally got it. And with extra hooty owls too!
That was a good un. I was enjoying the very unchristmassy tone of this tale, until the very Christmassy ending, which finished it off beautifully and made me smile. Thanks Jasper 🙏🏻
After a long week of childcare, I take care of my grandkids while their Mommy and Daddy are working, I always feel like this is one of my treats. Your Friday releases are my very fav. I am so thrilled that we still have your tales to give us thrills and chills! My needs and wants are simple but your eerie scare candy always help!
That's so nice to know, Stephanie. I always think it's lovely to be around children...and lovely when they go to bed 😄
Thank you, Jasper.........press like, my friends, or you're going straight on the naughty list 😂
Also , nearly forgot to add, I just listened to your guest narration on The Classic Detective Story podcast by Tony Walker and it was great fun. Well done.
Oh, has that gone out already? Where did you hear it? 🕵♂️
@@EnCryptedHorror I went to my podcasts and it was there on The Classic Detective Story podcast. Not on TH-cam yet. 👍
Beautiful, beguiing tale for Christmas. I love Victorian ghost stories. Thank you for reading to us in such a sensitive manner. Delightful. From Ruth xx
Rhian who is my other half and carer says “thanks jasp’ for a wonderful story Micky N London 😎🙏☯️
Ah, thank you Michael, and thank you Rhian 👍
Excellent - evoking great atmosphere and sense of time and place. For my money, Jasper is the very best story teller on YT.
Enjoyed this one, thank you - a proper Christmas tale, and so atmospheric.
You know, next time I'm having trouble finding a shop or a house or something, I'm going to try knocking on a random door to ask if they have 'a conveyance I might use'. If not, then I'm going to say, "well, I must stay here the night then. Can you bring me some supper?"
We really should keep some of these old customs alive.
The disfiguring face on the thumbnail was a great touch. ❤
The other tradition is to then complain about the appearance of the host, the lack of hospitality, and the quality of the food 😄
@@EnCryptedHorror
Can you imagine it?! 🤣
Please take a video of the reaction, including the police report😂.

Jasper, you are among my fav channels on TH-cam. My faves are you, Classic Ghost Stories, and Horror Babble ❤
what a great ending... superb stuff sir
Thank you kindly 👍
Wonderful! Your narrations are such a treat. Always know that they mean very much to your listeners. Thanks so much.
Loved this one. Has so (very loose) elements similar to "The Coffee Pot" by Theophile Gautier. Thanks Jasper
Good story! Thank you so much for taking the time to share it with us. It's a real treat to look forward to your weekly offerings!
I'm so pleased to be still be able to. And to still have an audience 😆
My eyes were closed while listening to this & when I opened them your thumbnail image had morphed ... wicked cool effect that is *Jasper* & proper piano score too
Yes you are subtle and the stories the most unusual I have EVER heard Jasper. Thank You for your highly immersive narrations
Creepy love story...but then, aren't they all?
Welcome back friend- as I spent too much miserable time in a hospital bed full of tubes, feeling a bit like Frankenstein's monster I can't stress how I lamented your absence! Even my cats missed your voice. I DID catch your reflection! I knew it and no, was not disappointed! I still want to know what else you do?! And you ARE a good writer, I envy your ability. Of late been binge watching Val McDermid's "Aspergeris" - sorry, my spelling! Profiler Tony Hill (Robson Green fan and my age!) and Lynda LaPlante. So damned dark but as I am "older and tetchy" too, I find much contemporary tv and novels wanting. I must agree with your assessment of Hugh Walpole too- is he a descendant of the eccentric architect of Strawberry Hill, the author of The Castle of Otranto? I wanted to wish you and yours a Happy Holiday Season. Let us all hope, especially for the children, they aren't responsible for all the conflicts, no childhood should be marred by THAT sort of horror. All the Best for 2024. May you find inspiration! Your narration- well acting, gets better and better and the production, music, sound effects likewise. Namaste from another "of an age"!
Oh Jasper! I loved this one!!! Beautifully told….as always! Thank you so much!🐙
Your changing image during the story gave me a bit of a turn. I wasn't paying attention, then I looked up to see it transform -- well done!
Ps
Love how the 🎞️image changes…you are so clever, subtle, strange. 🖤
Thank you! I was wondering who would spot it 😊
Ohhhh....fantastic
Incredible story. Well-written, chilling, and a fitting Christmas tale.
Fantastic narration. I love what you did with the graphic as the story progressed! I about came out of my recliner when I saw it and gave a fist pump.
Excellent stuff Jasper.
Thank you so much 🙏
Thankyou for a nice xmassy ghost tale. There was hope in the end and didn’t get too cheesy with the sentimentality.
Brilliant, loved it. Many thanks Jasper.
You're very welcome 🙏
Please consider making merch! At least for a limited time. I know you’re adverse to commercialization but, this is something we would like and not a self-agrandissement or sell-out or anything like that. We would sincerely appreciate it. If not, I do understand and won’t harp on it 🤍
P.S. I loved this - really appreciate your narration of lit by women authors who weren’t as recognized or respected in their time. Did you know Marjorie Gabrielle Vere Long aka Marjorie Bowen used no less than **four** masculine/male pseudonyms in her career as a writer?
So creative a narration with atmospheric realism and the portrait slowly morphing in the background. You really know how to immerse your audience and hold us, rapt to the very end.
Thanks Jasper.
That was an exceptional Christmas ghost story!!
Thank you, I very much enjoyed your reading of this story.
What a treat , thank you Jasper xx
You're very welcome 😊
I'm here as u were recommended by Classic Detective Stories podcast.....I've subscribed and I'm looking forward to a Christmas spent binge listening. Many thanks 👍

New subscriber. Came from Tony’s channel, I loved the story you narrated.
Welcome aboard! 👋
Ah, my friend, I did quite thoroughly enjoy this one. Here's hoping you and yours are having a delightful holiday season!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. Merry Christmas to you and yours too! 🎄
Thank you Jasper. Wonderful tale. Must listen to this one again on Christmas eve
Fantastic work as usual Jasper. Any chance we could get a reading of "Nackles" by Donald Westlake? A right proper story for the holiday season.
Westlake's stuff isn't out of copyright yet as far as I know (not dead long enough!) so I haven't dared.
@@EnCryptedHorror Ah, that's understandable. I've come across a few other recorings on here , but your production would really make for a wonderful adaptation.
What a lovely Christmas story! Thank you for reading it.
Thanks! Loved this!!
Thanks so much for the Super Thanks! 🙏

How sweet and creepy too!
Any port in a storm.
Poor Murdoch.
Another winner. 😂
I have noticed you have tendency or penchantn for selecting stories with "hot ghost ladies" in them. Very well done indeed. I enjoy the deceased Ladis as well. You might give Carmilla by J Sheridan Le Fanu
Good good lovely bittersweet spook love story
Thank you Bobby.

Some Christ Masses are a bit of a …breakdown;
however, one hopes
for angel’s wing’s move us
towards joy, wonder, magic-
light, merriments;
wholeness.
