The first game I played on my friend's C64 (circa 1983) and the game that made me want to own a computer. I didn't know the story behind it and had no idea it was originally an arcade game, so thanks for sharing that info. "Hunchback II: Quasimodo's Revenge" was one of the first games I owned for the ZX Spectrum and was my favourite game for a while (didn't complete it, until I played it on the emulator 15 years later). The theme tune was William Tell, which is considered the Swiss version of Robin Hood. The C64 version of the original game seemed to run a lot faster than the arcade version, although the graphics weren't quite as good. I started playing it on the C64 emulator a year or two ago and to this day, have never completed it. This video has made me want to give it another attempt.
@@jaethemanchild The music in some of the ZX Spectrum games sounded pretty good when played through my dad's guitar amp. The Hunchback II theme tune (William Tell Overture) was one I listened to a lot, along with A Hard Day's Night from the game Mikie (another former arcade game). A few months ago, I was looking up the Monty Python computer game because I remembered hearing the show's theme tune in a game on my ZX Spectrum. I found out a few weeks ago that it was actually from the game Brian Bloodaxe, which had nothing to do with Monty Python. The Monty Python game was released five years later, which means I never owned it. I found out two years ago that Monty Python was born in my mum & dad's hometown of Peckham, at Terry Jones' house. I was shown the house while visiting the allotments next to it in May 2022. I was also shown a small playground behind the house where the cast used to play five-a-side football during script writing breaks.
@@jaethemanchild I was sad about it too. I think I may have seen him at a radio recording at BBC Broadcasting House in the 1990s. His house is at the end of Chadwick Road/Grove Park, but it can't be viewed on Google Earth for some reason. Two of my aunts lived in a house at the Chadwick Road end. The Grove Park end is full of posh houses. His house really stands out.
I've only ever played the Speccy port and had no idea it had an Arcade root! I'm going to have to try that bubble blowing technique the next opportunity I get 😂😂

It looks like with enough practise you could well finish it. It certainly seems achievable! Good luck with your attempt!

@@TheAlienInterview Terry Jones death genuinely made me sad. He seemed such a kind hearted individual, and was a hero of mine growing up

I've had a quick play, and the double arrow level seems bugged.
It’s certainly bloody tricky, if not!

It’s a noble art!
Don't think I had this for the Spectrum. It's not one I remember
It was quite a biggun too
@jaethemanchild When I eventually find my box of Spectrum games I'll check and see what I actually had
Some very cheap deaths are to be had on this game. Especially when you are trying to jump spikey men and dodge arrows at the same time.
So very tricky
Hate this game with a burning passion 💩.
I can see why it was popular in 83, but it’s not aged incredibly well.
